HTC Rezound Pre-Production Model Gets Some Video Hands-on Time

by: | posted 10.31.11 | News, Videos

Mmmhmm, the HTC Rezound just got “unboxed” by a tester who clearly doesn’t mind showing his mug to the entire internet. This is a “pre-production” model that looks pretty finished for the most part. I was told to expect a big Beats audio logo on the back of the device at launch, but after seeing this one with both “Verizon” and “4G LTE” on the back instead of “with HTC Sense,” I’m not sure that will happen.

The tester doesn’t discover anything shocking in this video, but is able to confirm the 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3″ 720p HD screen, 1GB of RAM, and Sense 3.5 – all specs we reported back in early August. We also get to see under the battery cover for the first time, which appears to be some sort of see-through red plastic. It’s one fine lookin’ machine.

Can it compete with the Galaxy Nexus and DROID RAZR? We might know this Thursday when HTC takes the stage in NYC to announce it.

Video: Ice Cream Sandwich Hands-on and Overview

by: | posted 10.27.11 | News, Videos

The Ice Cream Sandwich port that was made for the Nexus S has been awesome to play with to say the least. After doing that massive gallery from it though, we noticed that many of you wanted video evidence of it running and decided to put something together. Keep in mind that this is an SDK port and can be slow at times, but it is still one heck of an accomplishment by Drew Garen. Been running this for almost 2 days now and have enjoyed every bit of it.

So without further ado, Android 4.0 running on a Nexus S in video.

I’mWatch Might Exist After All, the Colorful Android Watch Gets an Official U.S. Unveiling

by: | posted 10.26.11 | News, Videos

The world was first introduced to the concept of having Android on a watch some time early this year from a company called i’mWatch. Most of what we saw was a bunch of renders leaving skeptics in the room (that would be us) to assume this product would never actually makes its way to the market. We may have been proven wrong, as the i’mWatch team has introduced their product officially in the states. From what we can tell though, the product won’t be available any time soon in the U.S., but with their announcement coming at the ARM conference this past weekend, we are at least getting closer.

So what is i’mWatch? It’s Android on your wrist. The MotoActv product that Motorola introduced will probably end up being much more polished and stable as they are a mega-company, but the i’mWatch team appears to be at least focusing on more than just the OS. These watches actually look pretty nice. They have a variety of colors, plus luxury versions to fit almost anyone’s price needs. Speaking of the OS though, it’s a custom version of Android that has its own app and music store that will be on display at CES in January.

A video has been released that details the product, starting with the foundation and going all the way through the team itself. If you want to get straight to the watch, just to the 2:30 mark.

This may sound odd, but as someone who has grown to love the Blackberry Playbook, I can’t help but get excited at the video we have for you below. During their hands-on time, you get see how seamlessly these apps that have been ported over, work. The Kindle, WordPress, TweetCaster and IMDB apps all fire up without much hesitation. The future of this tablet could be bright after all.

Transformer Prime Landing Page Goes Live, Video From Its AsiaD Unveiling As Well

by: | posted 10.20.11 | News, Videos

The new Transformer Prime from Asus made a brief appearance on stage last night at the AsiaD conference. It looks ultra-thin, will run NVIDIA’s new quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and dock into a keyboard just like its predecessor. The landing page for it on Asus’ site is already live with the unveiling of the device coming in just a couple of weeks on November 9.

And if you would like to see it in video from the conference last night, we have included it below. Skip to the 6:10 mark to see it in action. “Crazy thin” doesn’t do it justice.

DROID RAZR to See Ice Cream Sandwich in Early 2012, Other Android 2.3 Devices “Should” as Well

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News, Videos

It was pretty obvious that during Motorola’s DROID RAZR event yesterday that many of our minds were already looking toward the Ice Cream Sandwich event that would happen just hours later. And when the press release dropped with “Android 2.3.5″ on it, we all immediately wanted to know if and when this newly announced phone would receive an update to Android 4.0. According to Moto senior VP of product management Alain Mutricy, we should see it some time in early 2012. That’s soon…like couple of months away soon. You may remember that it took 8 months for some of their products to receive Gingerbread this year after it was announced, so this should make future RAZR owners smile. We should also point out that Moto is easily the quickest when it comes to updating their handsets – they may just make this “start of 2012″ deadline.

Asus Releases Transformer 2 Teaser, Will We See It This Week?

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News, Videos

YouTube Preview Image

With the promo video for NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 leaking last night, plus the fact that head honchos from both NVIDIA and Asus will be speaking at AsiaD this week, we have been sort of expecting the Transformer 2 to be announced. To add to that theory, this new teaser video was just uploaded to Asus’ Youtube page, giving us a ultra-metallic preview of what may be. Their every-popular dock is featured along with the words “The next Transformation” – could they drop any bigger hints? No mention of the processor, specs or release, but they certainly want us to know that “it’s coming.”

Cheers Jacob!
