Vic Gundotra “Previews” What We Can Expect at Google I/O

by: | posted 05.09.11 | News, Videos

We’ll leaving for San Fran in about 5 hours so that we can absorb all that is Google I/O 2011, but beforehand, we wanted to point out this little preview that Google VP of Engineering, Vic Gundotra just sent out.  It doesn’t include any specific details, but it definitely re-iterates the fact that we’ll see more Chrome and Android than we can probably handle.

Google engineers from Andy Rubin and Sundar Pichai’s teams will unveil new features, preview upcoming updates, and provide new insights into the growing momentum behind these platforms.

So we get new features and a preview of upcoming updates?  Exactly what we expected, right?  Now to start speculating as to what those will be.  In our Friday poll we asked everyone what they wanted to see – here’s to hoping we hit at least half of that list.  And even though we’ll be there blogging the entire thing, you can still watch almost every second of it live right here.

And just because it was so much fun last year, we dropped the day 2 keynote below so that you can relive some of the Android history that was made which included a first look at Google Music.

We had yet to find out what the theme of the new Angry Birds Rio update for next week would be, but thanks to a preview video uploaded to Rovio’s Youtube account today, we get a full 48 second look.  Beach Volley is the title, and as you can see is set on a sunny beach with loads of monkeys.  Should be another wild addition that I’m sure many of you will pound through in less than 20 minutes.

Who isn’t giddy as a school girl after watching that video?  Bang Bang Racing is like Reckless Racing only with mini cars and ridiculously good graphics.  There is a chance it’ll pop up in the Tegra Zone tomorrow for your Tegra 2 device (which we’re hoping includes the XOOM), but we have been unable to confirm that.  There are reports floating around that it was announced by NVIDIA and @BBR_THD, except those tweets seem to have been pulled or are for some reason invisible to us.  Either way, we’ll be following this game closely.
