<p>Google began pushing an update to the <a href="/tag/nexus-4">Nexus 4</a> and <a href="/tag/nexus-10">Nexus 10</a> last night as Android build 4.2.1 (JOP40D). It&#8217;s a tiny file at 1.1MB. So far, the only real change that has been found is a fix to the People app, which means that December has returned <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/20/google-to-fix-overblown-december-birthday-issue-in-android-4-2/">after last week&#8217;s debacle</a>. <del>No word yet on a Nexus 7 update, but it can&#8217;t be far behind</del>.<span id="more-90217"></span></p>

<p>If you happen to have either device, you can <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/13/download-android-4-2-update-for-nexus-7-and-gsm-galaxy-nexus/">install via custom recovery</a>, adb sideload it, or try to stop and clear Google Services Framework.</p>

Go figure. For anyone who doesn&#8217;t know, these toolkits will help either beginners who are learning about their tablets or the seasoned pros who simply don&#8217;t want to do any heavy lifting. They will help with unlocking your bootloader, rooting the device, installing a custom recovery, and a whole lot more with hardly any effort on your part.</p>
<p>You will need a PC, but once you download and install the drivers and software, you&#8217;re pretty much good to go. If you&#8217;re ready to get your hands dirty, head on over to the <em>XDA</em> thread and check it out.</p>
