Good news for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE owners! If you accept the latest 351MB update that includes TouchWiz, you can root it with the exact same root patch that you applied after initially purchasing the tablet and also after receiving the last update. It’s as simple as downloading a .zip file, dropping it onto your device’s storage, booting into recovery and then applying it. Thanks for keeping that wide open, Samsung.

Behind closed doors last week, Samsung made an offer to Apple that many thought would bring the long awaited Galaxy Tabs to Australia. In the offer, Sammy promised an expedited court hearing as long as the tech giant was able to launch the long delayed tablet. Apple wasn’t amused and released the following statement through their lawyer.

“It is one we don’t accept and there is no surprise. The main reason we are here is to prevent the launch (of the Galaxy 10.1) and maintain the status quo.”

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has earned rave reviews across the globe, and may be the one true competitor to Apple’s iPad. Samsung is cooperating with the big A and has already agreed to remove two features from the Aussie Galaxy Tab, which brings the number of alleged infringed Apple patents down to 1 — touch screen display technology.

However, until the courts make a decision the fine folks of Australia will be left with a limited tablet choice. Then again, they could always pick up a Kindle Fire?

An update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE (our review) is starting to roll out to users at this time.  While it may not be Android 3.2 or have TouchWiz over the top, it does have another thing for you to all look forward to.  It’s rooted just as easily as it was before the update.  All you have to do is apply the update and then re-apply the same root patch that you did before updating.  Fun.

One of our readers who purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE has already found a way to root it using the same file and method that was used to root the WiFi-only version.  It actually doesn’t get any easier than this, folks.  It’s a simple file download followed by a boot into recovery and a quick flashing.  I guess a big “Thanks!” to Samsung is needed for making this so simple.

And if you want Netflix, there is a patch that has been working on the Asus Transformer that will also work on the Tab.  Everything is included at the source link below.
