Running the program is extremely simple as it is completely automated and just takes a couple of clicks if you are running Windows 7. It is also available for Windows 8, Linux and Mac users, so it should be a fun and easy process.

Welcome to Custom ROM Friday. Today, we are featuring CleanROM for the Galaxy Note 2 from developer scrosler. There is only so many ways to describe a custom ROM, so who better to sum up their work than the developer themselves? Here is the basic idea behind the ROM - “CleanROM is targeted to the towards the user that wants a stock ROM experience with the ability to choose the features and functions they want, demand performance and expect stability!”

Seems, legit, right? On top of having a completely stable and performance-enhanced build, users are able to choose which add-ons and modifications they want to use. For example, features such as Samsung’s multi-window are beefed up to allow any app to be compatible, as well as the unlocked ability to WiFi tether. As a cherry on top, the developer also threw in some additional ringtones and fonts for the device.

Below we have placed some features that should certainly get some excited, as well as a link to where you can download the ROM.

Notable Features:

International N7105XXDMB6 Jellybean 4.1.2 Base

Multi Window Control to add or remove any app you want!

WiFi Tether Unlocked!

Unsecure boot image with init.d support!

Samsung Find My Mobile capable!

Long Press to skip music tracks with screen off!

Additional Ringtones and Fonts!

Performance and Stability that is nothing short of Legendary!

To download CleanROM, head to the full XDA thread here.

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta flash ROM’s on Friday! Well, now that you all hate me for getting that stuck in your head, let’s start talking geeky ROM goodness. Today, we are featuring custom ROM’s for the Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon and the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.

The two ROM’s are Jelly’Beans’ and MMuzzyROM. Both are heavily based in the stock look of Android, which we here at DL can greatly appreciate. So, what makes these ROM’s noteworthy? Let’s start with Jelly’Beans’ for the Note 2. As I mentioned, the ROM gives the look and feel of Jelly Bean, while still retaining the functionality of certain software that Samsung includes on their devices, such as multi-window. By taking it a step further, the developer has enabled all apps to work with that feature, successfully bringing the best of AOSP and TouchWiz together and in perfect unity. You may now kiss the bride.

In terms of other features, there are the popular statusbar customization options for toggles and mods, the developer has removed the annoying location icon from the top bar (thank you!), and a long list of other goodies. To see the full list of ROM features and to download this ROM, check out the thread on XDA here.

Now, onto MMuzzyROM for the Galaxy Nexus toro. We all know there is a countless amount of custom ROMs available for this device – it’s the beauty of owning a “Nexus.” What makes people different is that some want features upon features, while others want a more pure Android, smooth experience without all of the bells and whistles. If you recall Bugless Beast, that ROM was well known for being pure Android with just a few tweaks to make it run very smooth, stable, and fast. And now with Pete gone from the development game, in comes MMuzzyROM.

With this ROM, users can take advantage of an enhanced power menu, quick setting modifications, and native data tethering. In essence, it is a bare bones ROM that brings minimal changes to the device, but plenty of performance tweaks and other small mods. If you are looking for speed and performance, try out MMuzzyROM. You can check out the full list of features and get downloads right on their thread here.

When Verizon released a surprise update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that was listed as nothing more than a “security patch,” we knew it meant only one thing – they had locked the bootloader again. Since then, users who updated early have been waiting patiently for some of the Samsung devs to work a little magic. That time has now come.

Adam Outler and his crew over at XDA released a new “jailbreak” for the VZW Note 2 this weekend, one that works over the new VRALL4 update. At this time, it’s only available to Linux and Windows users, though there is talk of a Mac version on the way.

As you had to with the last bootloader unlock, you need to download CASUAL (Cross-platform ADB Scripting, Univeral Android Loader), Odin, BAV Baseline (prepares device for root), and the Back Atcha Verizon Bootloader file, which is the “jailbroken” bootloader plus recovery.

You can find it all at the link below.

On a related note, we should point out that this is bootloader unlocking, which has absolutely nothing to do with the “unlocking” ban that the Librarian of Congress issued on Saturday.

The Galaxy Note 2 bootloader has been unlocked. Thanks to Adam Outler and the folks at XDA, Verizon’s version of this oversized phone has “gone from the most secure device on the market, to the least secure device publically available.”

The process itself, to unlock the bootloader, doesn’t look all that intense after you watch the video tutorial, but there are enough warnings in there that you should definitely proceed with caution. Know what you are doing, folks. You’ll need Odin to flash most of it, the Revision ROM (a base platform to work from), a PIT file, CASUAL (an adb script loader), and my favorite file name of all time, the “Suck It Verizon Odin Package.”

Once you’ve completed this, you really do have one of the most open devices on the planet. The team that worked on this did some brilliant work here.

Full instructions at the source link and in the video above. ROMs await you.

No custom recovery is available, to my knowledge, but that will likely change. Hit up the source link below to get the step-by-step guide and files.
