Here is Your Verizon 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Nexus

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News

Remember the impressive time lapse video samples shown off last night that were taken with a Galaxy Nexus? Who knew that each of them was shot with the Verizon 4G LTE version of the device? We know now thanks to Romain Guy, the Google engineer that was in charge of the footage. As you can see in the shot above, Big Red’s 4G LTE logo is plastered square in the back underneath the camera. And for those of you thinking, “But but, that could be AT&T!” It’s not. AT&T’s 4G LTE logo is ugly and has flames on it. This is most definitely Verizon’s.

We still are not sure exactly when this version will be available (tentative date set of November 10), but we do get a look at the thickeness in this shot. You may recall a story from this morning which suggested that the LTE version would be a “little” thicker – I’m OK with thickness I’m seeing in this photo. You?

Download: Roboto Font from Ice Cream Sandwich

by: | posted 10.19.11 | Downloads, News

During last night’s Ice Cream Sandwich event, a new font was introduced into the lives of tech geeks everywhere. Roboto is what Google wants to call it. Supposedly built with the mindset of being “modern, yet approachable.” All we know, is it looks nice on a small screen and also blown up big like you are seeing up top. The folks over at XDA have done with it as they always do by making it available to all of you.

We have a flashable Clockwork zip, along with the font files for your PC. An added bonus has also been tossed in for Samsung phone owners that know about FlipFont.

Files and screenshots of the new font in action after the break.

DROID RAZR to See Ice Cream Sandwich in Early 2012, Other Android 2.3 Devices “Should” as Well

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News, Videos

It was pretty obvious that during Motorola’s DROID RAZR event yesterday that many of our minds were already looking toward the Ice Cream Sandwich event that would happen just hours later. And when the press release dropped with “Android 2.3.5″ on it, we all immediately wanted to know if and when this newly announced phone would receive an update to Android 4.0. According to Moto senior VP of product management Alain Mutricy, we should see it some time in early 2012. That’s soon…like couple of months away soon. You may remember that it took 8 months for some of their products to receive Gingerbread this year after it was announced, so this should make future RAZR owners smile. We should also point out that Moto is easily the quickest when it comes to updating their handsets – they may just make this “start of 2012″ deadline.

Motorola Looking For XOOM 3G Owners to Test New Software “from Google” – Could It Be Ice Cream Sandwich?

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News

When Motorola sends out invites to their feedback network members to join in on the testing of update, we normally just look at it as a bug fixer or something not incredibly important. But when the invite comes out on the day that Ice Cream Sandwich is announced to the world, we take notice. And that’s exactly what happened yesterday for Verizon XOOM owners.

In the invite (which we have pasted below), Moto refers to it as a “small test”, but we get the feeling it may not be so small. The interesting thing here, is that when you actually jump into their survey to see if you would be a good candidate for this test, they are very specific as to who they need.

LTE Version of the Galaxy Nexus Will Be Slightly Thicker Than the HSPA Version, Anyone Surprised by that?

by: | posted 10.19.11 | News

Such a beauty, isn’t it? According to reports this morning, the 4G LTE version that you see on Verizon may not look exactly like that. Well, that’s probably not fair. Let us just say that it won’t be quite as thin as the version you saw on stage last night at the Galaxy Nexus event. And the reason for that is? We have to assume that the LTE radio’s girth is to blame. Probably should not freak out though, as “a little” thicker does not mean it will be anywhere near the thickness of the current crop of LTE handsets. It will still be thin, folks.

Now, how about a date? Are we go for November 10? We know that is a tentative date, that’s for sure.

Asus Releases Transformer 2 Teaser, Will We See It This Week?

With the promo video for NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 leaking last night, plus the fact that head honchos from both NVIDIA and Asus will be speaking at AsiaD this week, we have been sort of expecting the Transformer 2 to be announced. To add to that theory, this new teaser video was just uploaded to Asus’ Youtube page, giving us a ultra-metallic preview of what may be. Their every-popular dock is featured along with the words “The next Transformation” – could they drop any bigger hints? No mention of the processor, specs or release, but they certainly want us to know that “it’s coming.”
