OnePlus One “Smash the Past” is a Pretty Bad Contest

The contest called “Smash the Past” by OnePlus One that could land you one of their new flagship phones for $1 is now taking entries. The contest, for those not familiar, asks that you smash your phone on video to prove that you deserve a brand new OnePlus One, assuming you are one of the 100 chosen. Thing is, this isn’t exactly the greatest contest if you consider a number of factors.  (more…)

Quick Contest: Win a $50 Google Play Gift Card From Droid Life!

I stumbled upon an unused $50 Google Play gift card this afternoon while tidying up the office and though, “Why not give this away?” So yeah, let’s do just that.

This will go down as one of the quickest contests in DL history, as you only have three hours to get in. Thankfully, the rules are simple. All you have to do is follow the directions in the Rafflecopter widget below, which essentially just asks that you leave a comment. We choose our winner through Rafflecopter though, so make sure to tell it that you left a comment.

Contest: Two Nest Thermostats Up for Grabs From Droid Life!

Since Google is now selling its Nest Thermostat on Google Play, and we know that the $249 price for something like a home thermostat is turning more than a few of you off, we wanted to give a couple away. We have been Nest users for over a year now (our review) and still think it’s one of the best Android accessories you will ever purchase. To say that we wish everyone could experience a Nest, is an understatement.

But again, the $249 price tag is no joke, so to help ease the wallet strain on a couple of you, we have two to give away to the DL community.

The contest, like others, uses Rafflecopter to give you multiple chances for entry, while also making it easy to manage on our end. You don’t have to do all of the steps below, but the more you do, the more entries you will receive.

Giveaway: Win One of Two Justin Maller Art Prints, Courtesy of DL and the Facets Wallpaper App (Update: Winners Picked)

If you are a fan of MKBHD or have seen our writeup on the Facets wallpaper app, then the name Justin Maller may sound familiar. Last year, he set out to release a different digital piece of art each day. Now that he has completed that task, the world was clamoring for an easy way to access his work, so Justin created a Facets wallpaper application for both Android and iOS.

To celebrate the launch of both applications, Justin offered us two 12 x 12 art prints to give away to our readers. Available is a print of Prowl (the lion) and a print of Totem (the dragon). Both feature bright colors, excellent design qualities, and can be had by you for the price of nothing.

As always, we will use Rafflecopter to make sure everyone who wants to win a print has a fair way of doing so. On Rafflecopter, there is an option to leave a comment in the section below, featuring a screenshot of your homescreen with a wallpaper from the Facets application. The wallpaper app is available through Google Play for just $0.99, however, it is not mandatory to do that. If you don’t have Facets, just leave a comment with which print you would like to win.

Let’s do this.  (more…)

Reminder: Join the DL NCAA Bracket Challenge 2014 and Win a Nexus 5!

You joined the DL NCAA Bracket Challenge 2014, right? I’m hoping that only a handful of you answered with “no,” but either way, here is a reminder to all. Our Droid Life group, which already has over 2,000 members, is only open for submissions for another 24 hours or so. The NCAA Tourney officially kicked off last night with a couple of play-in games, but you still have all day today to get your bracket submitted. Officially, you have up until about 9AM Pacific on Thursday morning.

Why should you join? Well, because I need more people to dominate (kidding of course). Because there are fabulous prizes up for grabs, that’s why. If you win, you’ll walk away with a Nexus 5 32GB in any color, plus $100 in Google Play gift cards.

And remember, you don’t need to know a thing about basketball. Get in now!  (more…)
