by: | posted 06.22.11 | Apps, Games

We told you to grab your towels and tanning lotion yesterday, and here it is. Rovio has just released the newest installment to Angry Birds Seasons in the Android Market, and may I say that it’s “pigtastic”? I think I’ll stop right there. 30 new levels of destroying pig fortresses.

Tip: Google Maps Traffic Widgets Can Save You Some Serious Time

by: | posted 06.21.11 | Apps, News, Tips

This could be old news, but for those of you with long commutes and that are not familiar with Google Maps and its Traffic widget, you’ll want to pay attention.  With this widget, you can set up a variety of locations that will in real-time, update to show you how long it may take you to get there depending on your current location.  So as you can see, I’ve set up a few including a BBQ spot across town.  According to Google Maps and its live traffic reporting, it should take me around 17 minutes to get there in some not so friendly (red) traffic.  However, if I want to head down to Deschutes Brewery which is only 10-12 blocks away, it should take me just a couple of minutes.

ESPN Scorecenter Receives Hefty Update on Android: Panel Swiping and Extra News Tabs Added

by: | posted 06.21.11 | Apps, News

The original release of ESPN’s Scorecenter on Android was pretty weak – there is no denying that.  As of today though, the app stands up to the best of them with its new panel swiping abilities, drop down menus for additional coverage of your favorite sports, video feed and performance tweaks.  Using this app used to be extremely frustrating, but after having the latest update for just a few minutes, I’m starting to find a new attraction.  Now, if only we could get a tablet version?

Peggle Released on Android, is FREE Today from Amazon

by: | posted 06.21.11 | Apps, Games, News

PopCap released Peggle onto Android today through the Amazon Appstore and as expected, is free.  The game itself is pretty silly, meaning it reminds us of Plinko from the Price is Right, but with a unicorn as the host instead of our main man, Bob Barker.  Yeah, we get that this is one of those super popular games from iOS, but man, 75MB for a kids game?  OK, that may be a little harsh after just 5 minutes with it, so we’ll instead leave it to you guys to tell us why we should obsess over this for the next few days.

Cut The Rope Heading To Amazon Appstore This Friday?

by: | posted 06.20.11 | Apps, News

Cut the Rope is coming to the Android platform this Friday, and from the looks of it, we’re thinking it will be FREE on the Amazon Appstore. A few of the bigger titles have been released onto Android (Plants vs. Zombies for instance) with the price tag of free, so the number of downloads will skyrocket within the first few days. We certainly aren’t hearing any complaints about that business plan.

Cut the Rope is one of the highest downloaded apps on the iTunes store for games, and there’s a reason why: it’s a solid game, with literally hours of entertainment to be had if you enjoy these cute/whimsical puzzle titles. Definitely be on the lookout Friday for this release.
