by: | posted 05.05.12 | Apps, News

Adding little “F” accents to the newly introduced Camera and Messenger icons with Facebook was not enough to quiet critics. Facebook gave in last night, removing the shortcuts from their Android app completely in the latest update. The people have been heard. And back to your regularly scheduled Saturday activities.

LogiType Tablet Keyboard, A Funky But Awesome Mobile Board

by: | posted 05.04.12 | Apps, News

We have had the pleasure of experiencing some pretty funky keyboards. Whether they use interesting features to help you type better or just look down right ridiculous, you can always bet that there will be that one diamond in the rough. LogiType may be that gem. At first glance, I was a little worried. With the bubble keys and how it seems that they’re strewn across the display with no sense of order, it is not a minimalist’s best friend. But, this thing actually works and works quite well.

HD Widgets Version 3.0 Coming June 7, Preview Trailer Released

by: | posted 05.03.12 | Apps, News, Videos

The developers of HD Widgets have been hard at work preparing to launch the newest update for Android users. The next iteration looks pretty impressive and has a ton of new features and Ice Cream Sandwich goodies baked in. Down below is the full list of what we can expect in the new 3.0 release:

What’s new:

- massively vivid easier-to-use app UI
- built for new themes & add-ons
- customizable switches
- universal apk (ready for modded tablets)
- ICS native (built on sdk 15)
- more weather services
- even more colors & clocks
- multi-location weather
- device specific User Guide
- show/hide widgets in the main menu

You can pick up the current version of HD Widgets in the Play Store for $2 and it has been a constant on all of my tablets for quite some time. There are lots of options and different widgets to choose from which definitely makes it worth the two bucks in my opinion.

Temple Run Update Introduces Wallpapers Via Store – Foursquare Brings Us a Map During Check-ins

by: | posted 05.03.12 | Apps, News

Two of the more popular Android apps on the block, Temple Run and Foursquare, received updates last evening. For Runners, you finally get to purchase game-themed wallpapers in the store, assuming you have enough coinage. There are three of them:  the Evil Demon Monkeys (pictured above), Temple Wall, and Guy Dangerous. Along with the new ‘papers, “all sorts of improvements and bug fixes” were also included.

Foursquarians, the app now has a mini-map that is displayed when you hit the “Check In” button. Seems like something we should have had ages ago, but nevertheless, we’ll take it.

New Firefox Aims to Create Uniform Experience Across Desktop, Phones and Tablets

by: | posted 05.02.12 | Apps, News

A presentation by Mozilla’s Madhava Enros has surfaced online, giving us a look at the future of their popular browser, better known as Firefox. In the slides, you can quickly figure out what the goal is here – to create a browser that looks and feels the same across all platforms, hence the “distinctive and unified” mention at the top of the first slide. Over the last few months, they merged their mobile and desktop teams to hopefully make this dream come true.

The motto for this new project seems to be “soft, friendly, and human,” and that makes sense. After cruising through the slides, I sort of see what they are getting at with the curves, soft colors, and simple approach (wait, is that human?). In the presentation, you will find a number of pictures that represent the Firefox team’s ideas for the future of the browser. Be sure to check it out at the source link below.
