Slice Released on Android, One Hell of an Online Shopping Organizer

by: | posted 03.08.12 | Apps, News

Slice, an online shopping organizer, made its way to Android today. If you do any or all of your money spending online, this is an app you should probably download immediately. All it takes is an email address that you send most of your online receipts to and it starts going to work. And what I mean by “work” is that it scans recent purchases and then grabs all of the important information out of them including tracking numbers. So once that email arrives in your inbox, Slice begins tracking its progress including when it will arrive on your doorstep. You can add up to 5 email accounts, in case you use more than one. It will tell you how many items you have purchased online over the years and how much you have spent (Yikes!). Again, an amazing tool for those that spend their days shopping over this wonderful thing called the Internet.

Google Pushes Out Updated Play Store, Fixes Broken Market Links on Motorola Devices

by: | posted 03.08.12 | Apps, News

Poor folks with Motorola devices running certain types of Blur were sort of left with a link-broken mess after the Google Play update. But thanks to many folks sending in reports and Google’s quick actions, they have just sent out version 3.4.7 to all devices which should fix all broken link issues. I checked on my old DROID X and everything seems to be working just fine now. To force the update on your phone, head into your application settings and wipe the Play Store’s data which will initialize the newest build to download to your device.

Update:  You can download the new version here if it does not show up on your device.

But when it comes down to it, which launcher you choose is all based on preference and there is no wrong choice.

YouTube Preview Image

When the word got out that the next Angry Birds was to take place in space, the first question many wondered was how Rovio intended on dealing with the lack of gravity in the aforementioned environment. Well, it looks like Rovio had to call on NASA itself and get some help. Since even astronauts get bored on the International Space Station, they had no problems obliging and decided to give everyone a quick lesson on trajectories and the weightless place they live in.

Angry Birds might be getting a bit old and played out, but this is actually sort of a fresh take on the idea and I think it could be a bit of fun. It looks to be a lot more challenging than previous versions and should keep folks busy for a while. Anyone here excited for the new version?

Google Promising Unified Gaming Platform By 2013, Game Developers Rejoice

by: | posted 03.07.12 | Games, News

If you are a big mobile or social gamer, then the news that Google plans to combine all of their social and mobile gaming variations into a single platform may have you a bit excited. By combining the Chrome Web Store games, Google+ games, and Android games, Google intends to allow developers to have their games reach millions of additional users.

Google’s Punit Soni had this to say about Google’s intentions:

By next year, we will not be here talking about Google+ Games, Chrome Web Store games, Games for Native Client and Android games. We will be talking about Google games. Games bring people together. They are an important part of how users interact online. Game developers push boundaries, and games are fun. We realize that gaming is at an interesting point in its evolution and we have technology and platforms to push it to the next level.

So now that we know we have lots to expect from Google in the gaming category, all we have to do now is play the waiting game.
