New Samsung Galaxy S3 Picture Could Be Real, But is Confusing as Hell

by: | posted 04.27.12 | News, Rumors

Last night, the picture you are seeing above was spammed out from a “source” to who knows how many different sites. It is said to be the “next Galaxy” or what a Samsung executive referred to during their Q1 earnings call as the “Galaxy S3.” The picture certainly mimics the design we saw yesterday in a leaked user guide, with a physical home button, volume rocker on the left, and back/menu hardware keys. But I’m not going lie, this just confused the hell out of the whole situation. Let me explain.

Sebastian Thrun Wears Google Glasses on Charlie Rose, Takes and Shares Picture With Them to Google+

by: | posted 04.26.12 | News

Google’s Project Glass or as we like to call them, Google Glasses, are one of the more interesting tech topics to follow in 2012. First debuting in a “here is what they could do” video, we have already seen real versions in the wild on the likes of Sergey Brin.

This week, this whole Project Glass situation just jumped another notch or two on the Cool Meter. Sebastian Thrun, one of the Project Glass gurus, stopped by to chat with Charlie Rose while wearing a pair of these glasses. The interview was posted publicly yesterday, but from what we can tell, was actually conducted last week. Within the first few minutes of the conversation and while discussing some of the project’s features, Thrun appears to snap a picture of Rose and then share it to Google+ without doing anything more than a simple head nod. Obviously you can’t see the picture being taken or the UI for sharing since it is only viewable through his glasses, but what we do know is that Thrun posted the picture you are seeing above,  to his G+.

The video of this goodness is available at the source link below. We highly recommend you check out it and then discuss.

How close are we to Project Glass becoming a reality?

Samsung GT-i9300 User Guide Purportedly Leaked, Specs Don’t Make a Whole Lot of Sense

by: | posted 04.26.12 | News, Rumors

The Samsung GT-i9300, oft-rumored to be the Galaxy SIII, appeared this morning in what is said to be an official user guide for the device. The list of specs looks decent on paper, but it doesn’t necessarily match-up with what we know to be official for Samsung’s next flagship. Last night, we were told by Samsung that the next Galaxy will have a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.4GHz, yet this page clearly states 1.5GHz.

After that, we see a mention of a 4.8″ display, but benchmarks from the same device are showing it as either 4.6″ or 4.7″. The camera is said to be 8MP, but again, we have seen 12MP mentioned as well. The rest of it looks semi-standard, only it seems odd that they would mention a sensor as being “Acceleration” rather than the correct term of “Accelerometer.”

Oh, and then we have a sketch of the device along with this list of specs. Is that a physical home button? It makes absolutely no sense to include a physical home button when their is an on-screen home key, thanks to Ice Cream Sandwich. I personally owned the Euro, unlocked Galaxy SII and hated every second of the physical home button in the middle of the device. Please Samsung, do not bring it back with next Galaxy.

U.S. Versions of Samsung’s Galaxy SIII to Use Snapdragon S4 Processors Instead of Exynos Quad-core?

by: | posted 04.26.12 | News, Rumors

Last night, Samsung announced that its new Exynos quad-core processor would be featured in the soon-to-be-announced Galaxy SIII or “next Galaxy.” The news sort of shocked the world a bit as the device that will sport the chipset, has yet to be unveiled and has been kept as secret as any Android device ever. We almost couldn’t contain our excitement though, as benchmarks from a device with this processor inside have been popping up all over the web, showing off impressive results.

Rumor: HTC to Launch Device With 5″ 1080p Display and Quad-core Krait Processor on Verizon This Fall

by: | posted 04.26.12 | News, Rumors

Annoyed over the fact that Verizon passed on the HTC One X, a device that has blown us away over the last couple of weeks? According to a new rumor, they plan to make up for it by launching a device with a 5″ 1080p display and quad-core Krait Snapdragon processor this fall. Think of it as a Galaxy Note competitor.

Also in this report are a couple of other supposed confirmations that should make you happy. The claim is that Verizon will indeed carry the Galaxy SIII, we just wonder when exactly. Last year, they passed on the Galaxy SII in favor of the Galaxy Nexus and the year before that they released an original Galaxy S device months after others. Maybe they’ll get this one right? Third time’s a charm?

Lastly, this report claims that Verizon will see “multiple” variations of the RAZR throughout the rest of 2012, one of them as the RAZR HD. The RAZR HD is no secret to readers of DL as we have been on its trail for months now, previously reporting it under its codename of Fighter.

So there you have a rumored roadmap with no dates or time frames other than “fall” for one. Not a lot of surprises other than the HTC device, which we are certainly interested to learn more about if it actually does exist.

Thoughts?
