According to a report from Variety, Samsung will likely announce integration with Google Assistant on its 2019 Smart TV lineup next month during CES.

Why is this huge news? From an Android enthusiast perspective, Samsung is known for touting its own solutions. In this case, Samsung has its own digital assistant already baked into 2018 Smart TVs, known as Bixby. The idea that Samsung is open to bringing a 3rd-party digital assistant to its TV lineup could mean Samsung knows that to offer the best experience to its consumers, it should offer more options than just its own.

Are we a little bias because we love Google Assistant? Probably.

Beyond the news that Google Assistant could come preloaded on 2019 Smart TVs from Samsung, it is also reported that the company is looking to improve the audio shipped on these televisions as well. Also reported by Variety, the 2019 lineup could feature the same spatial audio tech that is seen in products like Google Home Max and Apple’s HomePod. This tech allows the speaker to essentially be aware of its environment, then tuning the speakers automatically to provide the best audio experience.

We are just weeks away from the craziness of CES, so we’ll keep you posted on this.
