Thursday Poll: Which Event has You More Excited – Motorola or Samsung?

motorola invite1

September is officially going to be intense, busy, wild, and a whole lot of fun. We now have at least two (so far) major Android events to attend on September 3 and 4 from Samsung and Motorola, respectively. Samsung should bring us the new Galaxy Note 4, maybe a VR headset, and who knows what else. Motorola, it seems, will bring us up to four new products – the new Moto X, Moto G, Moto 360, and some sort of new Bluetooth accessory. And of course, Apple will do their song and dance the following week.

But since we are an Android site, let’s focus on our Android events. And because we like competition, we want you to tell us whose event you are more looking forward to and why. Are you dying to see where Samsung takes its Galaxy Note line or does Motorola still hold a place in your heart?

My friend needed a phone because her’s was dying, she didn’t need bleeding edge so I went on MotoMaker & designed her a phone with her favorite colors, ( still awesome idea ), anyway when it came I hooked it up 4 her & the Moto X still is a very snappy phone, she’s very happy with it, especially with the sale they had going on. It’s just great stock Google Android + a few extra great features, not cluttered beautiful phone. The new Moto X coming out with an updated processor is even going to be faster, + u still get to design it, I really can’t wait! Like a lot of other readers I hope I can get one with the 360 bundled for a reasonable price, now I just have to decide if I want to stay with Bloody Red.

  • TC Infantino

I prefer Motorola phones, mainly for their great radios, excellent speakers, good build quality, and just a tiny bit of bias due to loving the OG Droid. I am very excited to see what the official Moto X+1 will look like and it’s specs. I also am not a huge fan of Samsung, mainly because of that ugly physical home button, but also because they have always felt cheap in my hands. Plus, I think they were partially responsible for Google selling Motorola. Supposedly they made a deal with Google that they would not go the way of Amazon by forking Android into Tizen and putting only Tizen on their future phones, so long as Google got out of the device manufacturing side of the equation by selling Moto. Then shortly after, we read that Samsung is putting Tizen in some of their phones and on their wearables. This just makes me think of Samsung as Apple light.

  • T_Dizzle

I say Motorola because we all know what Samsung is bringing.

  • http://twitter.com/jdrch jdrch

I know Samsung will deliver with Galaxy Note 4, but I’m interested in seeing it Motorola can finally release a high spec, no compromises device instead of one that falls short in screen res, CPU, onboard memory, or removable battery.

  • NexusMan

No hate to Samsung, I expect the new Note to be nothing less than great, but it’s ALL ABOUT MOTOROLA for me!!!!

  • alberteezy

Definitely moto! Moto X + Moto 360!! I’m also interested if Motorola will add new items to moto-maker like screen size & build materials. Hoping moto brings a good camera onboard too. On the other hand it seems like Sammy’s note 4 has been outed already. Its definitely a beast device, but i just want a well rounded optimized smartphone and TW takes that away.

  • http://androidandme.com/ Taylor Wimberly

    Huawei’s event on Septermber 4th.

  • RoadsterHD1

    Motorola is taking over Sammy.

  • droidrazredge

Motorola brings all the watchers to the yard!!!!!!!!

  • jrbmed08

I’m not a fan of Samsung’s build quality, and I have absolutely no love for TouchWiz. On the other hand, the Moto X has been the best phone I have ever owned. I upgraded from the Galaxy Nexus and won’t go back to Samsung (after the GNex’s charging port broke 3 times with normal use). Motorola also seems to be the only company making phones of what I consider reasonable size for pockets (under 5 inches). So I say Motorola for sure.

  • jim

Samsung only because I’m a huge fan of large Amoled displays like on the Note series. If Motorola made one I’d probably switch in a heartbeat.

  • Trysta

Never owned a moto phone and the only samsung phone I ever had was the Galaxy Nexus (which almost doesn’t count). But I think there is far more room for surprise at the moto event than the Samsung event which will show a Note 4 that looks more or less like a Note 3 with the best specs Samsung can reasonably squeeze in. Nothing wrong with that but it won’t be very surprising. I’m very curious to see what direction moto takes after the moto x.

  • ThunderJayHawk35

I want the moto nexus but I’ll peep both shows because they both make great devices. I like how this poll is supposed to be unbiased yet they conveniently place the invite gif for the moto event and not the Samsung event pic as well… I mean sheesh be consistent Droid life… your fanboyism is shining bright like a diamond.

  • Jeff Schroeder

I have been waiting for the next Moto X for a long time. Then the G3 came out. Yeah, it’s not stock Android, but I’m very happy. But I’m still so excited to see what Motorola has up their sleeves.

  • Fer

None, same laggy experience with a different launcher

  • Roy Harrigan

More interested in the Moto 360 than the Galaxy Note 4.

  • chris_johns

moto is back with a vengance!…new note and iphone ppppfffffttttt who cares

  • Patrick Crumpler

X+1 and the 360 for sure. But am really interested in the BT earpiece. Hoping it ties in with Android Wear.

  • gregba

is it just me, or is that the nexus logo folded into the middle?

    • gregba

you can notice it when you see the picture of all 4 devices, you have to look quick before it opens

  • http://about.me/robblaich Rob Blaich

There seems to be little reason to be excited about when it comes to Samsung. If another company releases something, just wait a week or two and Samsung will bring out a product to match. The hype lies in what the other companies are releasing.

Seriously though, Motorola did a bang-up job with inventing features that people would actually use on the Moto X. It’ll be tough to beat that, but I have little doubt they’ll do exactly that.

  • Christopher Moore

Motorola will be more exciting but I will most likely buy the Note 4.

    • gusswhat

if you are interested in phablets why not get nexus 6?

      • grumpyfuzz

dude the nexus 6 rumors are now saying 5.2 inches, not 5.9

  • Droid Ronin

It would be awesome if Motorola also announced its Nexus as a surprise but that may be a ways off.

  • sameoldsameold

as if the results of this poll weren’t apparent before having it. Motorola could crap in a box and you all would stare in amazement. Just like everyone bashing the galaxy alpha saying it has crap specs, but if moto used the same specs for the new moto x you all would give them praise for using lower specs. reminds me of apples cult following. It’s cool, like what you like, but don’t be idiots.

    • Justtyn Hutcheson

Samsung hasn’t proven they can build a lower-specced device that is a good overall usage experience, or that they would actively support anything but their flagship line.
Motorola was soundly obliterated in the tech community until they proved that their lack of specs didn’t harm the real-world usage. Then they took that 5 steps further with the Moto G and Moto E. When Samsung proves the same, then we can give them a pass on “lighter” specs and look at other aspects of the device.

      • guesswhat

nailed it!! you are the best commenter on droid-life :) ..

    • Dominick White

it isnt surprising.. considering the big thing to bash Samsung /Apple / Verizon on this site… but anything done by Motor and T-mobile are consider the greatest things ….. i am not even o a Samsung and Apple fan yet i get tired of the bull

      • Higher_Ground

so tired you forget about how badly they bashed Motorola for phones like the bionic, Droid X2, and releasing better spec’d phones a month after the normal relase (MAXX). Granted they haven’t done any of that in the last year, but unless you were born sometime in 2014 there’s no reason to ignore all the previously bashed moto phones/launches.

        • Dominick White

No they really didn’t bash them. More like lite slaps on the cheek… If Samsung did the same droid life would be feeding the fire and handing out pitch forks

  • http://Google.com/+boojay boo Jay

    Sony

  • http://gplus.to/bdbplatano M.e.Puente

iPhone. I hope they finally invent NFC this year.

  • MotoRulz

Motorola Love on Droid Life will never die.. Long live MOTOROLA

  • Orion

Motorola easily. I want that 360!

  • DanSan

I’m excited about moto but love the tilt of the poll lol

    • AbbyZFresh

It’s Droid Life. I wouldn’t be surprised if Moto’s paying this site to endorse their numbers. lol.

      • Kevin

Lol put your tin foil hat away.

    • Justtyn Hutcheson

Motorola is just a more exciting company right now. Samsung’s announcements have been good, but “really good device gets marginally faster and a little more useful” isn’t very compelling. After the odd but ultimately vindicated decisions made for the Moto X, and the almost ridiculously good deals that are the Moto G and E, along with the penultimate release of the 360, it’s no wonder more would be excited for their event, even if they wouldn’t necessarily purchase anything that comes of it.

      • Ramshambo2001

Completely agree. My wife has a S3, a friend an S4 and my mom an S5. I can honestly say that besides feeling a little snappier each time, they all feel pretty much the same. Pretty boring I think and they all pretty much don’t even bother with any of the Galaxy S-“features”.

  • Rodeojones000

    Motorola. And it’s not close.

There is absolutely NOTHING that excites me about the Samsung event. I’m not trolling here, being honest. I’m hundreds of times more excited for the Apple event than I am that anything Samsung has planned.

  • AbbyZFresh

I don’t understand why Moto thinks its a good idea to release so close to the iPhone 6 and Note 4 launch. They’ll be eaten alive by the pure Apple/Samsung hype. They better have a damn good marketing strategy to get the word out to the public and carriers this time.

They took too long to release the phones compared to last year..

    • monkeybutts

So you can buy at least 2 of their devices, too many people want the 360. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s carrier bundle pricing planned.

      • Tony Spencer

As long as carriers DON’T put their logo on the 360!

        • SHunter

They cant, its does not contain any carrier radios.

  • jak_341

Samsung. New Note! Give me 5.7 inches! [trails off in awkward silence]

    • monkeybutts

      Lewd

  • JSo

Samsung can suck it. Motorola is more interesting.

  • ROB

Hoping the nexus 6 is by Motorola… Will be hard not to buy it.

  • FortitudineVincimus

Big Samsung fan, but I feel like they are stuck and churning out variations of the same stuff over and over to the point, they are saturating us with nothing new or inventive.

This year, based on some specs that have been leaked, I think Moto will swing me back over. And they are who I started with.

    • LionStone

Their Settings are simply a mess… I’ve helped 2 people recently that have had Samsung phones for the last couple years figure out stuff on their phone and I’ve never owned a Samsung phone. They need to clean it up!

  • LosttsoL

Definitely not Samsung. All you need from them is a spec sheet, because you can guess what the phone will look like.

    • jimt

      IPhone comes to mind.

      • thunder

Don’t worry just take the current iPhone and double the power of everything and cut the time in half

  • chris125

I wanna see both and what they bring to the table. Interesting to see how moto will price the moto x+1 and the moto 360. Also interesting to see them launching it so close to the new note and iPhone 6.

  • http://brgulker.wordpress.com/ brgulker

Moto! Almost all the feature phones I used to buy were Moto, going all the way back to my first Nextel. The only Moto smartphone I’ve owned was the original Droid. I’m anxious to see if the X+1 or rumored Moto Nexus will be my next device.

  • yummy

Comin round the moto when I come

  • Ralph Bretz

Motorola by far. Moto 360, Moto X+1, Moto G+1, and the a new Blue Tooth head set.

    • Sean Lally

Hadn’t heard about the headset. My current headset just crapped out a couple days ago.

      • Ralph Bretz

I assume it’s a new Blue Tooth because of the image showing the watch a phone with a X and G and a blue tooth ear piece.

        • r0l

Just got a LG HBS800, may have to return. I may just go complete Moto.

    • XvierX

I hope the headset will bring additional functionality to the other two devices (phone & smartwatch). I’ve mentioned this once before, but I really like the idea of being able to listen to my emails and hang out messages. Ever since I saw the movie “Her” I’ve been envious of the way he was able to listen and reply to all of his messages by using only his voice. It was a true hands free interface.

      • LionStone

My pop got a Ford Raptor recently, everything is hands free… ”Air”, ”On”, ”Max”…Whoosh!!

  • Xavier_NYC

    I just want new sh*t.. I’m a tech enthusiast..

  • W. Paul Schenck

I’ve tried other phones over the years, but still come back to Moto products. Moto 360 looks to be one more in the line I will own. Here’s hoping the final released version is as good as all the teasers.

  • Jordi Agricola

    HYPE

  • pyro74boy .

As long as it’s an Android event and not Apple then I’m happy. But come on people this is a website called Droid Life so did you really expect Samsung to win this Poll? I already knew what the results would be before I even looked at the results right after I saw the title of this post. LOL As for Android wear no thank you all of these smartwatches are Gimmicks. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. I have more then enough money to buy any of these but they are just a huge waste of money. I would much rather spend my money on something I would truly use every day. Just my two cents.

  • Lucky Armpit

Motorola, for sure. Samsung’s event will be like Apple’s event, which is “Look at our plain product that has a minor bump in specs but offers no real innovation anymore”. And, like Apple, they will sell millions of them.

    • http://androidforums.com/members/kwest12.html kwest12

You mean to tell me good marketing means good sales?!

    • pyro74boy .

Are you still going to say the same exact thing if this years new Moto X looks like last years? People like you can hate on Samsung all you like but the truth of the matter is that I have had the best overall luck with Sammy and trust me I have used them all.

      • SammyL

        personal experience = ymmv

I’ve used phones from everyone save for HTC. So far, the best ones I have owned have been from Motorola, Apple and LG. Sammy doesn’t even come close. I had the Droid X from Moto and loved the build quality, moved from that to a Nexus S, then a Galaxy Nexus, horrible little phones whose only saving grace was that they were Nexus devices. Then moved from that to an iPhone, then back to a Nexus 4, and soon a Nexus 6. Can’t say I want to ever own a Samsung device again. I’ve played with an S3 and S4, and my wife had an S2 a while back. I didn’t like any of them. Too plasticky, Touchwiz was horrendous, and laggy (Moto had Blur, which was a touch worse, but not by much).

        • pyro74boy .

I have had the exact opposite experience with them as you have. The LG phone I owned the charging port went bad making it impossible to charge the battery. Both of the high-end HTC phones I had failed on me unless the six months time and had horrible battery life sometimes having the battery die 3 to 6 times per day no joke and one of them overheated on me. They also both had issues connecting to the internet. Every single Motorola touchscreen phone I have ever owned has had issues with the touchscreen not working. I have not had any of these types of issues with anything made by Samsung at least not yet. I’m also not denying that none of this stuff can happen to phones made by Samsung. But I can say that my Note2 is the smoothest running phone I have ever used with great battery performance. NONE of these phones are perfect I can find flaws with every single one of them but Samsung has been the closest for me. Trust me I know lag when I see it I had the very first Motorola Droid and I don’t think I have to remind everyone how much that phone lagged. LOL

      • Lucky Armpit

Not hating, as I acknowledged that Samsung will sell millions of them just like Apple does. My problem, again, as I stated, is that they offer no real innovation anymore from model to model. The sales of the S5 and the iPhone 5s are perfect examples. The S4 was quite different than the S3 and the iPhone 5 was different than the 4s (well, different in shape but that’s about all… topic for another website). The Moto X and it’s Verizon-branded sibling Droid line were game changers and really innovative… something that the smartphone landscape have been sorely lacking. Unfortunately, Moto didn’t sell a whole lot of them. My opinion is that 1. Not enough marketing and 2. AT&T exclusivity for MotoMaker at launch.

Samsung for years now have just made a minor bump in specs and crammed as much bloat as it possibly can into TouchWiz, and uninformed sheep flocked to them because Sammy is a marketing juggernaut. But as the S5 proved, consumers are getting more savvy and they better start innovating again if they want to sell phones in the numbers like they did with the S3/S4.

        • pyro74boy .

You mean to tell me that you don’t think phones like the Note2 where game changers? The Note2 was the first phone to take multitasking to a whole new level and this was a huge success so I have to disagree with on this one. But on the other hand I’m starting to get sick of the design of the Samsung phones so I kind of a agree with part of what you said. I’m not a huge fan of Motorola smartphones maybe I will change my mind after we find out what this years Moto X is going to be all about. If they make a phone with up do date specs then it might be worth at least taking a look at. Right now unless Motorola does something different in the right way then the LG G3 or Samsung Note4 is talking my money. I’m still very happy with my Note2 as it’s the first smartphone that was worth me not putting down and using something else I can’t say that about anything else I have ever used because of all the issues I was having with phones that where not made by Samsung. Not trying to sound like a fan-boy and I’m also not trying to make any sort of claim that Sammy is perfect because none of these manufacturers are perfect but I have had the best overall luck with Samsung and I don’t expect that many people will agree with me because the D.L site is full of Samsung haters.

I also agree with you about bloatware on Samsung phones this needs to stop ASAP if Samsung expects to take my money this year. It’s also the main reason why I returned my Note3 back to the store and kept what I feel is a better performing phone the Note2.

    • Kayungjoo

Is Motorolla expected to announce some major innovation that the tech world has not yet heard of? 12 day battery life? Indestructible phone? Didn’t think so. They’re also just expected to announce a new phone, but this site has turned into moto-life lately so everyone is all over Moto’s balls.

      • pyro74boy .

I Agree with you but look out the Motorola fan-punks are going to troll your post like no tomorrow. LOL

      • Justtyn Hutcheson

Nobody has any idea what they are going to announce. True it will indeed be a new phone, and spec bumps are expected. But after the surprises that were Touchless Controls, Active Display, Assist and Quick Capture from last year, people care little about what the specs are and instead focus on the “what else?”. That is what has people excited; they don’t have a “gravy train” to ride, so they have no choice but to truly push what a smartphone is capable of doing.

        • EC8CH

They both market gimmicky features, it just seems like Moto does fewer that are more thought out and targeted to improve functionality instead of just flashy uses of some hardware that can be crammed into a phone.

None of it is revolutionary, I just find moto’s features more useful.

          • Suralin

If they’re useful, why would they be gimmicky?

          • http://www.facebook.com/joeyklatzko Joseph Klatzko

MotoMaker was revolutionary. Hopefully they bring it back.

        • mcdonsco

I highly doubt Motorola is going to pull that off again one year later. My guess is any software features announced will be gimmicky at best with maybe ONE cool item.

Plus, assist and quick capture weren’t all that impressive to me…active notifications was fairly cool new tech (lighting up only the pixels needed part) and touchless controls are certainly cool…so two in my book from last year.

      • Matthew Galea

You are aware that the site was originally called moto-droid-life. They got their start discussing the OG moto droid. So it only make sense that when moto comes out with a new device it gets a little more talk time. Just FYI.

        • michael arazan

The Moto 360 is innovative. I’d prefer a watch that doesn’t need to be tethered to a phone though

      • geedee82

        The Moto 360?

        • Kayungjoo

Smart watches are not new. Motorolla technically is not announcing anything new other than a better design than current watches. OMG I actually rub a brain cell or two together before commenting…

          • geedee82

Who said smart watches are new? They are taking a current product and improving on it, the same way it works with smart phones. The 360 will be a huge improvement over anything else currently on the market, it features several innovations including the first ever round face. As Justtyn Hutcheson mentioned, the Moto X event last year had several surprises, and that has people even more excited to see what Moto will do this year. Samsung has had TONS of innovations like these in the past, but recently their device launch events haven’t been very exciting, and most of their additions and improvements have been a little gimmicky, and lets not forget about Touchwiz. So I just think if we are truly rubbing our brain cells together, it’s easy to see why Moto would be winning this poll, and that the Moto 360 is most definitely not to be overlooked.

          • pyro74boy .

The only way I’m going to be impressed with a device like the Moto 360 is if Motorola makes a smartwatch with a battery that lasts a week or two before it needs charging and if they can put a cheaper price tag on it. Then and ONLY then will I give credit to them. Like it or not every single one of these Android wear devices are gimmicks but still people like you will still buy into the hype. Last year I was waiting for the X to come out thinking it was going to be the device of the year but then only to be disappointed that Motorola/Google [At the time] tried to sell a phone with specs from almost 2 years ago. Not saying that the Moto X was a bad phone but with that being said at the same time it was by far the most overrated phone to come out last year just because of it’s cheap price tag. I don’t expect my post to get much support on a Motorola supported website but I stand by everything I say and I know at the end of the day people are going to try to rip me apart and call me dumb and stupid [I wouldn’t expect anything less from the stupid trolls on D.L] but this is still my opinion and not yours.

          • MistaButters

The processor in the Moto X has the same processing cores as the SGS4 and HTC One (just two less) and had the same GPU as those two phones. So stop with the idiotic “two years old” hardware comments. Whether you agree with their choice of hardware or not is another story, but it WAS current gen hardware.

Also wtf are you talking about “cheap price tag”. The Moto X was introduced at the same full retail price of every other flagship. Honestly, that’s what killed the phone for a lot of people. It was a dual core at $650 retail, $200 on contract.

You aren’t dumb or stupid for your opinion. We all different tastes for what we are looking for in phones. You do sound dumb though for some of the “facts” you referenced.

          • pyro74boy .

Its not as you say idiotic to think this way it’s called a valid argument because my phone was made way before the Moto X came out and it has a quad core processor and a much better camera. phones like the GS3 where made over 2 years ago with a dual core processor so now do you see my point? I have a real hard time excepting buying a phone that is being sold as a brand new device with hardware that was already out from over 2 years ago. I know you won’t understand anything I’m saying and maybe you can live with this but not me. But to be fair to each their own.

Like I said before I was not expecting people to agree with my post because D.L is full of fan-boys and girls who get their feelings hurt when someone like me reminds them about this sad little fact about the Moto X. I also hope that this years X lives up to all the hype and they make a device with updated hardware.

          • MistaButters

To start, I’m not a Moto X fanboy. I thought it was overpriced for what it was out of contract.

But your comment shows an extreme lack of understanding of hardware architecture. Is a Pentium Dual Core the same as an i5 dual core? Not at all.

Actually let’s reference some benchmarks. Since the Moto X had the EXACT SAME GPU as the current gen S4 and One, it actually performed the same in graphics tests. In web tests the Moto X actually outperformed the other two.

Now when it comes to floating point arithmetic (raw number crunching) the Moto X got destroyed by the S4 and One.

No fanboyism there. Just facts. Stop throwing out crap you don’t know to seem cool.

          • pyro74boy .

I knew people like you where going to troll my post to death I guess that’s the thanks I get for voicing my true honest feelings. D.L is full of people like you who can’t expect the fact that not everyone has the same exact opinion as you they do. Sad very sad indeed.

But your comment shows an extreme lack of understanding of hardware architecture? That’s a good one I bring up a valid point and now you accuse me of not understanding hardware. What part about I like phones with up to data specs do you not seem to understand?

Really you’re now quoting benchmark scores. You do know that benchmarks are very miss leading right? For a perfect example of this I have seen it many times where the phone that scored a higher score vs the lower scoring phone still got beat when these phones performed the same exact task during real world testing no joke. This is also why I laugh when I hear people claim that the iphone5s scores higher benchmarks vs all the high-end Android phones but they can’t make this same exact claim doing real world testing because the naked eye in most cases can’t see the difference in the smoothness of an iOS device vs a phone running Android. This is also why a true person who knows how to test these devices will never base their final opinion on how good or bad any of these phones are based only on benchmark scores. Bottom line Benchmarks do not show these phone performing real world everyday tasks and can be flawed in so many different ways as we found out from Samsung a while back. LOL

Lets see you make this same claim after using that pathetic camera on the Moto X because even supporters of the X have admitted right to my face that the Camera on the X flat out sucks and remember I’m quoting them not me. I would much rather use the camera on the HTC One Mi8 and I’m not even a huge fan of that camera but the difference between the two in terms of performance is night and day.

It’s not crap like I have already said it’s a valid argument on my part regardless of what people like you seem to think,

          • MistaButters

I never said the Moto X was the greatest thing since sliced bread, or even the best phone of last year.

            I’m not a Moto fanboy.

Your point was only half valid though. Yes it had a dual core when other flagships had quad core. Yes in pure performance it got destroyed.

And the camera was trash (at least at first). Just like the Nexus 5. But I never mentioned the camera.

But you clearly don’t understand hardware architecture. Just because the processor was dual core doesn’t mean it even remotely is on the same level as the SGS3 or a “two year old” phone. Its just not. When you say that you are either extremely misinformed or trolling.

And its ironic that you say we don’t accept any other opinion when clearly you don’t. You are set in your thinking.

            .

          • pyro74boy .

You still fail to understand that if I wanted a phone with a dual core processor then I would buy a phone from that same year when they first came out. I don’t understand what part about this you don’t get? It’s stands to reason that if I where to buy the Moto X I would be downgrading at least in terms of hardware specs and this has been my valid point all along. If I where to do that then I might as well just keep what I already have and save my money for the LG G3 or Samsung Note4. I think it was very cheap of Motorola to try to sell the X as a brand new device when other phones with up to data specs are truly new hardware all the way around. People like you are allowed to expect that and that’s fine. However People like me can also chose not to except this.

I’m also not going to go on every single post and talk trash about the X even though it’s not my phone of choice. I will save that for people like Bryan Mills or whatever he is calling himself no a days,LOL

I’m also not a fan-boy of any type and to be fair to everything out there if someone asks me what the best phone on the market is I tell them to go to a store like Best Buy Mobile and try all the phones out and compare all of them in terms of performance and features and buy the true best phone that works the best for them. This is something that you will NEVER here people like Bryan Mills ever say in any of his posts.

          • nhizzat

You must not get excited about anything then. Cars still have tech from over 100yrs ago, but I bet you still delicate over the latest and greatest.

          • pyro74boy .

Not much logic in your post. Really comparing cars to phones is very silly and not at all comparing Apples to Apples. I make a valid point and that’s the best you can do?

          • nhizzat

How exactly are they so different? New models come out yearly, both tout new tech and benchmarksbenchmarks, and both compare themselves to the competition. If you fail to see the similarities, that’s on you.

          • pyro74boy .

I will put it to you this way My current phone was made before the Moto X and it has a Quad core CPU and a much better camera so I would be downgrading my phone in terms of specs. They where not even making cell phones in the 1960,s and unlike cars phones don’t go up in value LOL so please don’t make me laugh anymore because you’re not comparing Apples to Apples. If you fail to see that these are not similarities then that’s on you and not me.

          • TC Infantino

See, here is the problem with your post…. Yes, you have valid points, and there are people who agree with you about those points, and there are those who do not agree with you. The problem lies in the fact that while also expressing your opinion, you then go on to belittle and insult anyone who doesn’t agree with your viewpoints. Calling them Moto fan-boys and girls, implying that they will have hurt feelings because your opinion doesn’t agree with theirs.
Just understand that you are in danger of seeming insecure and immature when you feel that you have to insult someone so that their opinions supposedly mean less than yours so that you can win a debate. To everyone else here, it just looks like you don’t believe your points are valid enough to stand on their own, without a little help from name calling and belittling.

          • pyro74boy .

The ONLY time I insult someone on D.L is when they insulted me first. You’re making this sound so one sided but the fact remains that when someone replies to one of my posts accusing me of being dumb or stupid or calling me a jerk based ONLY on the fact that they don’t agree with my opinion and feedback on any subject on D.L then why would someone like you expect me to reply back with a please or thank you or have a nice day and show them any amount of RESPECT? Yes I take issue with fan-boys of any type but why do you make me out to be the bad guy here? I have been disrespected on D.L numerous times on just about everything I have posted just because people don’t agree with my opinions and the last time I checked I have a right to my own opinion and my opinions are not any less valuable vs you or anyone else posting comments over D.L. I’m not even trying to make this all about me so why must we even go there in the first place? I find it very funny how someone like you is going to try to call me out on my behavior but yet you refuse to understand [or even care] that many people on D.L have also disrespected me from the very first day I decided to start posting on D.L. I don’t even take issue with anyone who disagrees with me as long as they can do it in a respect way but people insult my intelligence and name call because that’s when I’m going to reply back in a rude way you can bet on that. Please stay on topic and quit trying to attack me this is not what D.L is about. But then again D.L is full of haters so I guess I’m expecting way to much. I treat people the same way I have been treated and you get what you give.

          • Kayungjoo

HAHAHAHAH “same processing cores as the SGS4 and HTC One (*_just two less_*)”
Yeah my car has a V6 just like a porsche, but somehow mine is only worth half the value. My house has bedrooms as any mansion does, but has a few less bedrooms and less square footage I don’t get why nobody wants to buy my one bedroom house for over a million.

          • MistaButters

Jesus h. Read everything or don’t reply.

I was making the comment because he said the hardware was 2 years old. It wasn’t. It was current gen hardware. Comparing it to the sgs3 is just straight ignorant.

Fyi I personally thought the Moto X was overpriced.

          • pyro74boy .

You still failed to see my point because just about everything else last year that was a high-end Android phone had a quad core processor and the Moto X was being sold with only a dual core processor. I was ONLY using the GS3 as an example as to what I was talking about and in no other way was I trying to compare these two phones. The fact remains that the phone that I’m still using was made with a quad core processor and it was made way before last years Moto X even came out and also has a much better camera vs the Moto x. So no these are not up do data specs regardless of what Motorola claims. It was very ignorant of you to think that I was trying to make a direct comparison between the Moto X and the GS3 and the reason why I even brought up the GS3 in the first place was to give you an example as to why I did not want to downgrade my hardware because that’s what I would be doing if I sold my phone and got the Moto X

I also disagree with you about the price of the Moto X it was a great price for what you get and this is also one of the main reasons why it was such an overrated phone last year. I want to like Motorola again but they better come out with some better ideas this year if they expect to take my money.

          • Kayungjoo

Yeah, this is how I feel every time I get on this site now a days. zomg you don’t like moto or LG? F&*# you and f&*@ your family!

I’ve been in the smartphone game since Windows Mobile and I’m so bored with the spec hypebeasts at this point. Specs are important but at a certain point they don’t matter anymore. I didn’t even own the Moto X but it was definitely the most exciting phone of 2013. They changed up the manufacturing process and provided hardware customization for the first time since removable faceplates. They also provided a high end experience with mid grade specs. If all you care about is spec boosts and benchmarks, sure, the Moto X wasn’t anything special. But to me, 2013 was a boring year in smart phones otherwise.

          • pyro74boy .

At certain points hardware specs do matter and are more important to me then design because I’m not one of those people who buys their phone to make some sort of fashion statement and won’t buy any of these phones [regardless of brand name.] based only on looks. I also don’t buy into any of the hype on any of these devices trust me I have made this mistake before and ended up with a very poor performing phone. I have to disagree with you about the Moto X it was a big disappointment last year. I sure hope that Motorola does something this year to make me change my mind because I’m in the market for a new phone and if Motorola does it right they have a chance to take my money. Waiting until September 3rd and 4th to see what new ideas both Samsung and Motorola have before I take out my cash. I’m must likely am going to be testing all 3 of these phones that being the LG G3 Samsung GN4 and the new Moto X or X plus 1 or whatever it’s going to be called and will buy what I feel is the winner between these 3 phones.

The answer to your question is yes… Have you heard of the moto 360? With the round display? The amazing build quality and looks? If is definitely innovative

        • Kayungjoo

It has a round screen. They are not developing some smart watch that microwaves your food and makes your car faster. Also there is no proof of build quality yet AS IT HAS NOT YET RELEASED. Yes it looks awesome and I’m sure the build quality will be great, but so far you’re saying this as if it’s all facts.

          • JoeTi

The question is, since Samsung patented the round smart watch face, will they sue Moto over the 360 or help them when Apple does? Or is Apple going with an apple shaped smart watch. Think about it. ;-)

          • aby

Dude, none of your arguments say why Samsung will be any better!! Or is it because of your Korean heritage?

      • r0l

There last phone introduced features that no other phone had that were actually useful. I’m not anti-Samsung, but if I had to bet which company is going to product the most innovation I have to believe it is Moto.

      • NexusMan

Actually, they’re expected to announce TWO new phones, a new watch and a new audio/Bluetooth device.

        • Kayungjoo

Yeah, because everyone is clamoring for bluetooth headsets now a days.

          • NexusMan

No one mentioned what anyone is clamoring for. You incorrectly stated they’re “just expected to announce a new phone,” and I corrected your inaccurate statement. As for the “audio device,” no one knows exactly what it is, but I am certain it is more than a regular “bluetooth headset,” like we’ve seen before. Motorola has been making those for ages, so they wouldn’t hold an event for the latest in that vein. My bet is that it will somehow be tied to specific functionality with the Moto X and Moto 360. Perhaps control your phone or watch with voice actions with your phone being up to 150 ft away. That would also challenge the rest of your pessimistic little statement about Motorola not announcing “some major innovation that the tech world has not yet heard of.” I’d say it’s best to save your doom and gloom for just a few more weeks, and actually see what is unveiled, instead of making baseless, meaningless speculation weeks before an actual announcement.

No body would care for Moto on Sep 4th specially with last year specs, No SD expansion, Non-removable Battery, the world will be mesmerized by Note 4 which would have been annonced a day before with SD 805, QHD Amoled 5.7″ screen, 4gb RAM, 16mp OIS isocell camera, SPen, SD expansion, 3400 mAh removable Battery etc..

      • LionStone

        That you Yarrel!?

        • William_Morris

I swear I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

  • nick

    the sony z3 announcement

    • FortitudineVincimus

This is the other one I kind of want to hold out for. I have real interest in this phone based only on leaked specs and the known Z2.

      • nick

  • jimt

    Finally the 360 let’s go!

    Apple event?

      • Carlos Lopez

This is why I love this community xD

    • monkeybutts

Pretty much everything about the apple event is known other than price point and basic storage. I really hope they do something about 16 GB standard that they’ve had their last 5 models (3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5s) it’s really time to jump to 32 GB. It would at least force some phone manufacturers to jump on the larger standard storage bandwagon.
