This Week in the Life of DROID: 7/25/2014

Droid Life

Another week has come and gone in the Android world, leaving us with a lot of good news to think about over the weekend. The highlight from this week might be Verizon’s announcement of its “network optimization,” after we broke the story yesterday. If you are not a grandfathered Verizon customer, however, there was plenty of other things to keep you busy over these past five days.

Other news surrounded NVIDIA’s announcement of the SHIELD Tablet and SHIELD Controller, with our full review of the devices coming up very soon. In addition, we may have gotten out first look at Motorola’s upcoming Moto X+1 smartphone, Google looks to have finalized its purchase of Twitch for $1 billion, and LG announced a G3 model for overseas markets that features a Snapdragon 805 processor.

Here are the highlights in case you missed anything.

Have a great weekend, folks!

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

Any suggestions on a phone better than my Galaxy S III?

Looking for: smaller than 5.5, micro sd, easily rootable, faster than my S III.

    • hoodieNation

      Moto X! Hehe

      • Mudokon83

agreed on size, but specs arent that much higher than S III and there is no micro SD slot.

        • hoodieNation

I’m in the exact same boat as you. I’m still rocking rocking my S3 and can’t figure out what to go to next. I got my wife an G3…but it’s too damn big. I’m really hoping the X2 (I hate the X+1 name) isn’t actually 5.2. I might actually wait for the Galaxy Alpha.

          • Mudokon83

Exactly. If i didnt care about micro SD slot I’d go for X+1. If I didnt care about bloatware crap I’d just buy an S5 or S4.

          • hoodieNation

I can live with a 32 gig phone without an sd slot so the X2 is more than likely my next phone. The G Alpha is interesting to me, but I’m not sure I can get over the physical button though. But then again it’s shape looks substantially better than this lame ass thing on my S3.

          • Mudokon83

True, but I got a 64gb micro sd in my phone with all my music, for offline play, so even 32gb internal wouldn’t cut it.

          • hoodieNation

Me too lol, but id give it up. Why can’t these bastards figure out how to make the perfect phone under 5 inches. I want a Samsung display with Moto features, an sd slot, removable battery (with the stock one already being 3000mah). C’mon someone…

        • UniBroW

Moto x is worlds better than the S3, they aren’t even comparable. Though, it’s not what you’re looking for. S4 Google play edition might be though, Expansys has it for $399

          • Mudokon83

Ah yes very true, I have Verizon though, so I think I’m painted into a corner. OR I gotta find a unlock/rooted S4 for sale on swappa.

    • guest

G3 is right there at 5.5 in screen and only slightly larger than the S5 at 5.1 inch screen.

      • Mudokon83

still seems too big though, my S III is just big enough, fits in my pocket, but i can get my thumb across the screen easily one handed. I’d be surprised if 5.5 LG G3 didn’t feel too big.
