LG Trolls Samsung and Apple in Latest Tweets Promoting G3

LG G3

LG is usually pretty quiet when it comes to standing up to the competition. While HTC is constantly head butting with Samsung, and Samsung is relentless towards Apple on the playground of social media, LG is busy in the school’s gym doing deadlifts and pushups.

Now with the G3 hitting US carriers, LG looks to be ready to flex those new-found muscles on Twitter, proving that they too are capable of providing a good laugh at Samsung’s expense.

To make the Twitter troll at least interesting, LG went ahead and worked in a few Star Wars references, playing on the opening crawl from A New Hope. Have a look below to see the fun LG had on Twitter.

As a reminder, tweets such as these are sent out in good fun, and are not meant to incite hate. If you can’t take a little joke about smartphones, then please escort yourself from the Internet.

I know it’s difficult to test equitably, but I really want to see how the G3’s camera compares to it’s competitors with moving subjects, especially in indoor settings. I want to know if the laser assisted focus really improves focus accuracy and decreases shutter lag, or is it just another gimmick.

  • Incognegro

Went to get one today thinking I would just pick one up in store and they were already wiped out in my area. I should have just had one over-nighted :|

  • heldadavid

    In G2 fashion… The G3 should’ve come with the 805. There I said it.

  • Deez

When it’s all said and done though Samsung is laughing at LG… laughing all he way to the bank.

  • Dave

I honestly couldn’t really care less either way, but Samsung is so busy counting money they probably don’t have time for reading social media posts.

  • chris_johns

not a fan of this phone…specs yes but i went to play with one at the store and it really was to big even though i been talkin smack before i got to play with it in person its almost worse…display was really nice but it didnt seem any quicker then the g2 or the one or even the x…i guess id have to have it real world use but even so…gotta give it to lg here…anything star wars is ok in my book and the clone line is absolutely hysterical

    • Dave

Ditto, I used one for about 5 minutes and said, “meh” not worth another $200 when my Note is almost as fast and still works good.

      • SA_NYC

I picked up the G3 today and it’s a really nice unit, I’m sure I’ll grow to love it. But the difference with my beloved Note 2 actually wasn’t quite as stark as I expected. Definitely smaller to hold, nice feel, and apps do open a beat quicker. But the screen is a bit hit-or-miss (some things look great, but the angles and brightness aren’t as good as the N2) and overall there’s not as much difference in image quality as I’d have expected. As I said, it’s a really nice device, this isn’t meant to slag the G3, it’s really just a reminder to me of how amazingly engineered the Note 2 was for its time.

        • Dave

I’ve actually returned a G2 and a Moto X for the same reasons. Maybe the Note 4 will tickle my fancy.

    • HarvesterX

It’s not that much faster than the G2 but internally is improved quite a bit. I wouldn’t upgrade my G2 for one unless it came packed with the 805 but for people coming from a Moto X (good luck there they are a fanatical bunch) or older device this thing will rock.

      • chris_johns

I use a moto x currently…and i honestly didnt see much of a difference…maybe opening up a game i noticed it quicker but moving around the phone didnt seem that much quicker… Maybe bc the lg skin maybe if it had nova like my x id be quicker but obvy didnt try that lol

        • HarvesterX

To be honest I don’t see any huge differences between these newer devices…they are all running similar hardware …sometimes you gotta look hard lol

          • SA_NYC

I have to agree with you.

  • https://www.heartbleedbug.com/ Intellectua1

I don’t know about the “laser sharp pictures” part but I have only taken 1 pic to test it maybe I’ll take it outside and see what it can do

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I think the “laser” part is a play on the actual laser…then again you may have already known that. In that case. carry on.

      • https://www.heartbleedbug.com/ Intellectua1

No I didn’t even think of that. Lol. Flew right over my head.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio
  • Jprime

Went to go play with this at verizon today, when I launched chrome it opened to droid life. Amazing.

    • Derrick Jefferson

I went to verizon to play with one this afternoom… they didn’t even have any on display. the salesman had to go get one out of a box in the back of the store. I’m sure LG would be happy to hear about that. Product placement is key.

  • dougie

Lg isn’t in the same class with either apple or Samsung

    • JackTheRipper

You haven’t tried this phone eh? I’m a phone whore, get a new one every 2 months. I think I’ll stick with this one for maybe 4 months. Its epic, I love it.

      • ApplesNAndroids

I have it as well and will selling it on Swappa and going back to my M8 for the time being. I really like what LG did with this phone but I saw a lot of lag in places my M8 flys

        • Paul Hansen

Turn off thermal throttling. It helps a lot.

          • HarvesterX

Agreed…LG is overprotective when it comes to throttling CPU speeds due to temperature.

          • David

            How?

    • http://aQuickBit.com aQuickBit

So they are a class above them then right?

    • HarvesterX

I think with the G2 LG pretty much proved they could outperform outmuscle and outlast the big boys on the block. My G2 is still simply amazing – I can’t imagine the G3 and will play with one soon although I’ll wait for a 805 version or the G4 to upgrade.

    • Mickey A Valentine

LG is in gym class duh

    • C4one

Lol Samsung isn’t even in Apple’s class.

That’s no moon,” Kenobi breathed softly. “That’s a space station.”

(actually it’s just a physical home button)

“But it’s too big to be a space station,” Solo objected. “The size of it! It can’t be artificial — it can’t!”

“I have a very strange feeling about this,” said Luke.

    • Robert Paulson

The Note is an amazing piece of technology like that of the Death Star, yes. Your point though?

So I posted this and then deleted it after (or so I thought) so I could add the picture… I’m not sure why it now says Guest instead of my name. Apparently you can’t add a picture under the edit function after posting… Weird.

i love watching the samsung commercials for the fact they don’t attack apple. they pretty much slap iphone owners in the face and call them stupid. i love it.

The recent one with the swappable battery was pretty great in my opinion.

      LG. Lag is Good.

      • Mark Mann

Day 2 with my g3…and all I’ll say is what lag?

        • SKINS Suck

Open up 10 apps in the background that are not LG apps and see if it lags without having to force close them.

That’s what’s great about my nexus, I never have to force close apps to save ram and get rid of the lag because the UI is eating it all up

          • Enflu3nza

You do realize that both the Nexus 5 and 4 are made by LG?
Last time my N5 lagged was never.

          • Jesus

I’ve a Nexus as a replacement phone, after hearing that ‘stock is best’.

BS. It’s ‘boring’ as hell. Plain vanilla. Yes, it’s functional… but the feeling you get is, “this is it?”

      • HarvesterX

As LG using it on an attack towards Samsung? Yes…Lol

      • J

        I have a G2 and I also don’t know what lag you’re speaking of.

      • Kevin Choi

        You’ve bought the Lucid 3 didn’t you?

      • Rodeojones000

Obviously you’ve never used the G2 or G3.

Droid Life has, “The UI tends to experience a stutter here and there as well, but so does the GS5.” – Kellex

    • Maxim∑

I love watching Samsung use an enormous amount of money in marketing instead of meaningful R&D. It’s great!

      • a) youth.in.asia

        Apple does neither

        • Maxim∑

Yeah your right, they get revenue from magic

      • Nick V

Hey Troll… you do know that Samsung puts more into R&D than Apple, right?

        http://www.inferse.com/10661/apple-vs-microsoft-vs-samsung-research-development/

Next time, shut up before you speak. You may learn something.

        • Maxim∑

You do know that there are partitions to R&D. Instead of using CNET as your source lol go to Samsungs investment website and compare the “mobile development” section to apples report.

          Your not that smart obviously

          • Nick V

            Please provide as I did.

If I am not that smart, you my friend, make me look like a genius.

          • Dave

          • Jesus

            *You’RE not that smart obviously.

            Plus, you look retarded.

          • Teehee

As someone who has invested in Samsung since the 90s, you are correct in saying that Samsung tallies up their sub branches together in R&D costs. But, there is also the fact that Samsung uses different branches together for what ever they make. For example, their investment into plastic engineering does benefit their phone sectors even though the plastic engineering division is seperate from their mobile R&D. Same with their RAM division, LPDDR4 will make it into their future phones, but it is again, another branch of R&D.

Is the display on in the title photo? Is the G3 display really that bad outdoors or is that just a result of taking a picture of the display outside?

    • Mike Aurin

      Its off in the picture.

    • Carlos Lopez

its off tim said its amazing outdoors

      • Chris Stuart

You can see the phone, text and other icons on the bottom of the display!

        • Carlos Lopez

Yeah i edited like a second before you replied lol xD

        • xpyroxcorex

Its dimmed. Like right before the screen shuts off on it’s own

    • http://www.droid-life.com/ Tim-o-tato

The display is on, but dimmed to lowest setting in that picture. When the display is on, it’s great outside. One of my favorites in outdoor settings. :)

      • bogy25

I remember seeing this photo in a different article when DL pointed out that the icons ‘shadowed’ or had a ‘burn in’ effect on the loaner/test G3 that they had received?

  • Carlos Lopez

Now to sit back and wait for the fanboys to attack ^.^
