T-Mobile Introduces Underground, a Marketplace For Exclusive and High-end Devices

Think of yourself as a tech enthusiast? Well, you are reading Droid Life, so it wouldn’t surprise anybody if you said “yes.” T-Mobile has a surprise for you, in the form Underground, a special marketplace for those of us who can’t get enough high-end device hotness.

T-Mo claims this will be a place for customers to purchase exclusive, performance-oriented devices. As of right now, the only “exclusive” device they have listed is a Galaxy S5 in Gold.

Underground also features discounts on select low-end devices, as well as access to iPhones from Apple.

Want to be part of the Underground? Check it out here.

A gold S5, wow oh gee whiz 😀

  • WickedToby741

What would be more interesting was if T-Mobile launched a competitor to Swappa or eBay for their customers to trade and sell devices, perhaps even allowing other customers to take over payments on a financed device. Or even a T-Mobile sponsored forum to facilitate things like device unlocking, rooting, and ROMing. This, on the other hand, just seems like a marketing stunt.

Doesn’t matter, network is just EDGE here.

  • MicroNix

Is there an “underground network” to go with these high end phones? If not, still no dice for me.

  • T_Dizzle

Are they preparing for the public launch of the One Plus One 🙂

  • coolsilver

Gold paint =/= performance to me.

  • I read that second-to-last line as: “Underground also features discounts on select low-end devices such as iPhones from Apple.” 🙂

  • hfoster52

You had me till you said iPhone….

  • Capt. Tomato

    Link is broken!

    …Who will save Zelda now?

  • Zack Kolev

Hope Nexus/Silver devices show up here.

    • WickedToby741

It’d be really interesting if T-Mobile offered GPE devices through this or even partnered with CyanogenMod to sell devices preloaded with CyanogenMod.

Discounts for low-end devices… LOL iPhone from Apple! Makes sense to me.

  • Box

I’d be more excited if TMo would announce a balls out footprint expansion. They are doing so many other good things, but this is still what prevents me from hopping over to them.

    • Big EZ

I’m really hoping for this by the time Verizon kicks me off unlimited data.

      • Steveo

Verizon is STILL allowing grandfathered unlimited data devices? Man, I shouldn’t have sold out so early for that stupid upgrade discount… I though forsure it would be cut down much sooner. Kicking myself every month.

        • Cael

Instead of forcing people off theyre trying to give people “deals” to switch off.

          • Big EZ

At some point it will be by force. I think they are just trying to minimize the people still on unlimited data, and therefore reduce the blow back for forcing us off.

          • picaso86

At that point, T-Mobile better be ready for me.

          • athom07

What if I told you that right this very second there is a way to upgrade at discounted pricing and not lose unlimited? And tons of people have been doing it without Verizon doing or saying anything….

          • Big EZ

I just upgraded my wife to a Moto X at contract pricing and kept unlimited data.

          • Dark_Laser

I would ask if you’re Morpheus.

        • Big EZ

Yes, and just upgraded my wife to a X on contract and kept unlimited data.

          • trololol

a Droid X? wow that’s an old device

        • picaso86

I upgraded from the OG Droid Maxx to the Lg g2 and kept my unlimited data 🙂 until 2016 that is..

        • Raven

Yup, my wife and I are still on Unlimited with Moto X’s bought on sale. We are contract free so I guess they could pull the rug out from under us at any time, but when they do that, I will probably be jumping to AT&T (no decent T-Mobile in the areas I live and travel).

    • coolsilver

I would said sure until Sprint stuck it’s dirty yellow fingers in the pink T-Mobile has

  • Jon

I like the concept, but a Gold GS5 is not anything new or particularly performance related.

  • akellar

    Meh just a martketing ploy

  • Blue Sun

    Performance & touchwiz together?

    • flosserelli

      That’s called an “oxymoron”

      • ye

Jesus Christ I hope you get paid for that shilling.

  • evan brown

they’re beginning to acknowledge our existence
