Deal: Refurbished LG G Pad 8.3 For $199 On Woot

Has the rumored HTC-made Nexus 8 got you thinking about an 8-inch Android tablet? If you just can’t wait to experience one for yourself,  now is the chance to pick up a “factory reconditioned” (i.e., refurbished) 8.3″ LG G Pad 8.3 for $199 on Woot. That’s $100 cheaper than retail, and $50 less than Newegg had it in February, so it is a great deal.

A Snapdragon 600 paired with 2GB of RAM drives the G Pad’s Full HD (1080p) IPS display, which is rounded out by a 5MP rear-facing camera and 16GB of storage. We found the hardware quite solid in our unboxing and impressions video.

Sadly, the version of the G Pad 8.3 Woot! is selling is not the Google Play Edition, but hey, that’s what third-party launchers are for. It also does not have cellular connectivity, which might be a dealbreaker for a few folks.

Still, the price is definitely right.

Got the Newegg deal and I can definitely vouch for this tablet. Haven’t even rooted it yet and it’s had no lag since updating to Kit Kat. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t get the black version because the white one was the only one on sale.

Love my G Pad 8.3 – it’s a complete steal at this price! The only downside to this device is that you can’t flash it to GPE (some minor hardware difference).

OOI, is there a version available that will work on T-Mobile LTE?

I absolutely love this tablet. Great feel and super speedy performance ZERO lag. BUT I’m running pure Android…rooted and ROMed mine as soon as I got it.I think mine was like $250.00…via NewEgg.

Just got my verizon last week off swappa for 200. Great tablet for the money.

  • Does LG let you unlock the bootloader on this thing?

    • mustbepbs

No. There’s a work around for it, though. Custom recovery, kernels and ROMs.

    • Nought

Super easy root if you have adt

God I paid $350 for mine when it released. Then it went down to like $250 less than a month later. Now look at it.

I want a damn 10 inch tablet that doesn’t suck

Note 10.1 2014. With the new KK update, the thing runs so smoothly, especially if you have a custom ROM and kernel.

If this one was the GPE I’d be all over it regardless. Or if it was the LTE version I’d buy it even for $50 more. Or if LG offered a 32GB variant I’d buy one full price and new. But it’d be too hard to downgrade from a 32GB N7 2013 to this. Time for a Snapdragon 801-powered 8.3 refresh, LG!

Buy it, and then slap on the Mahdi Rom. It runs perfectly. That exactly what I did, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

      • br_hermon

I tried Googling it but couldn’t find an answer. Isn’t it possible to just download the KK GPE image and flash it to convert this to a GPE variant? Probably easier said than done or no?

        • JC

I really wanted to do the same thing, but as far as I know it’s not possible.

        • Woody

It’s not possible to load the GPE rom on the v500 version or vice-versa. But the V500 roms are actually better. If you loaded the GPE rom, you would lose the SD card capability. Using mahdi-rom or one of the CM11 variants, you will get full KK plus, the SD card works. Also, the stock software is not bad, either.

    Great deal

I got mine mint off swappa for $190 and it’s kickass.

I love mine. I once carried my Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. This replaced them both.
