HTC One (M8) in Amber Gold Available for $99, Tomorrow Only

HTC is hosting a special deal tomorrow, and tomorrow only. For a limited time, 24 hours to be exact, customers can pick up a One (M8) in Amber Gold for just $99 on-contract. That’s $100 off the usual on-contract price of $199.

The Amber Gold variant is not as tacky as a few might assume. It’s actually quite tasteful, and if the same ol’ silver and gunmetal grey color offerings are not exciting you, then Amber Gold is the way to go.

It will feature all of the same specs – 5.0″ 1080p display, Duo Camera experience, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.4 running Sense 6 on top.

The deal starts at 12:01 a.m. CST, Friday, May 30. You can grab it here.

I picked up my wife one of these at BB off contract, and ordered myself the dev edition from HTC. Love this phone.

and on Amazon through Verizon all the M8s are $99 and have been for a while now.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

And you can keep your unlimited data if you have?! Any idea?

    • El_Big_CHRIS

this. im interested in knowing as well. Best Buy is the one who carries it, so more info is needed here s’il vous plaît

      • Brady

        see above. YMMV.

        • El_Big_CHRIS

maybe you know this. I have 2 upgrades on unlimited, and a dummy line with no data, if i transfer one upgrade on VZW website, then use the dummy line to upgrade, would that take away the unlimited data on the original line? On the phones the rep say it will, but im not sure i trust them.

          • Brady

no man, i don’t know. u might try posting your question on androidcentral or xda…my guess is that you’ll receive an answer relatively quickly.

          • El_Big_CHRIS

i cant seem to be able to post on xda. thanks anyway.

          • Andrew

Verizon reps are incorrect. You can transfer an upgrade from the unlimited line to a basic line and upgrade without losing unlimited data. The reps tell you this because they are trained to get people off of unlimited data. It works best if you do it from Verizon’s site, as best buy and Verizon stores refuse to do it.

          • Steve

If you transfer an upgrade from a line that has unlimited data to your dummy line you will lose the unlimited data if you do the upgrade. If your dummy line has an upgrade available you can transfer it to your unlimited line and keep unlimited. That’s what I did. Hope this helps.

          • El_Big_CHRIS

I’ve been sticking to Costco because they’ve been able to do it, but they don’t offer the gold one. Thanks for letting me know

          • Rick O’Shea

@El_Big_CHRIS:disqus – Are you saying that you have been able to do phone upgrades on your current VZW lines (within the last 2 years) at Costco, and kept your unlimited data on those lines?

    • Brady
    • Rick O’Shea

This is a contract phone price. New contract phone on VZW ==> Lose your unlimited data. That hasn’t changed, unless VZW borks up their website (which has happened before).

If you try to purchase the gold M8 through the HTC site (which is where the article link above goes to), you will be presented with this lovely note from VZW:

“With Verizon’s new Share Everything plan, unlimited data is no longer
available. If you upgrade a line that has an existing unlimited data
plan, you will lose unlimited data on that line.”

      Oh. well. 🙁

      99+2400 vs 199+2400?

  • Bryan Mills

Guess when the G3 releases, I should wait a few days and grab it for $99 instead of $199.
