HTC One (M8) Mini Press Image Appears, No Duo Camera to be Found

The yet-to-be-announced HTC One (M8) Mini leaked in a press image over the weekend, thanks to @evleaks, showing a similar all-metal design to its older brother. The image reveals that the smaller-sister-from-another-mister will come in the same colors as the One (M8) – gunmetal grey, glacial silver, and champagne gold. The extra-curvy body from this year’s One (M8) is there as well. It is missing one major feature, though, the Duo Camera.

Previously revealed by @evleaks, the specs should included a 4.5-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, Snapdragon 400 processor, 16GB internal storage, on-screen buttons, Sense 6.0, 5MP front camera, and a single-sensor 13MP rear camera. That all sounds solid for a “mini” phone. I also can’t help but admit that I’m excited to see what that big boy, 13MP camera is capable of with HTC’s latest camera software. So on “Mini” phones, HTC is fine with a phone that takes pictures with detail and resolution, but on their flagship, they would rather go with the gimmicks. Interesting.

The device is rumored to be on its way to Verizon.

Anyone interested?

This could be a decent phone if they would put 2 gigs of ram and at least a Snap 600 it.. maybe one day we will get a 4.5 inch screen phone that doesn’t have its legs chopped off at the knees *sadface

    • coh303

And look at dem bezels, this device needs to lay off the donuts and slim down a bit

Wow, a 4.5″ screen plus a fairly large bottom bezel is considered mini nowadays? I just upsized my phone from a 4.3″ screen to a 4.7″ screened Moto X. That’s as big as a jump I’m willing to take right now.

  • mcdonsco

Too bad the specs are lacking…would have been inieresting.

  • droidify

A 4.5″ screen with those huge bezels won’t make it a mini phone. I bet the dimensions will be larger than the G2. The only difference is you will have a much smaller screen.

  • I can’t help it. I held out as long as I could. But I’m jumping on the band wagon with the folks who hate that mini <= 4.5 inch screen now. I've been holding out b/c mini has always been less specs and I could live with that so long as specs came in the 4.5 to 4.7 inch screen. 5 inch is the absolute maximum for MY phone though. Are the manufacturers making these decisions for me now? I've got a Moto X and love the specs on [the first iteration] b/c of their processor tweaking. Looking forward to 1080P on next iteration, IF the screen is 5 or less.

Sony is doing it right with the Z1 Compact but are still the only ones..

This phone looks like the baby of the moto g and HTC one m8. Don’t know where that 13mp camera came from though.

  • Drome

the design of this phone. but with SD801 or even 800 with 2gb ram with a decent screen = insta buy, I dont care how expensive they make it. Why do no android manufacturers understand this?

  • 1gig ram is way to low for now adays

  • Mark Aaron Collado

They just took the M7 and changed the case and some specs lol

  • ki11ak3nn

Maybe if there’s an M8 “Prime” it’ll have the 13 MP camera on it.

  • k

Wouldn’t be surprised if HTC purposely degrades the 13MP sensor to show how how the 4MP duo camera setup is better.

  • The Narrator

    720, 400, 1GB ram, I hope it’s like $100

    • Daeshaun Griffiths

Yeah it needs to be in a really good price range. I’m buying it so i’m concerned with the initial price and resale value (gazelle ebay, whatever). I really see myself keeping it for 3+ months.

720p on a 4.5″ screen is more than adequate, but the processor and ram do suck. I’m passing.

  • Cael

Why are the speakers on this lined up and not on the M8? And more black bar lies!

    • Steven Dolbey

The sensor module is on the side opposite to the front-facing camera on this little guy, unlike on the real M8, which has the camera and sensors bundled together on one side.

      • Cael

I’m aware. I’m just pointing out they could have aligned them on the M8 for the people screaming with their OCD.
