Reported Picture of Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Zoom Leaked

Rumors of a Galaxy S5 Zoom from Samsung have been popping up here and there, with reported specs for the device already leaked. What we had yet to see is an actual look at the device, and thanks to the most recent leak, we can check that off of our list.

All we have is a single picture from what appears to be some type of Samsung fan site, but at least the photo is in focus. We can’t be thrilled enough to see an in-focus leaked photo. From a look at the image, it appears that Samsung is attempting to cut back on the size of the Zoom line, throwing more mechanical work of the camera into the body of the phone itself.

If you will recall, the Galaxy S4 Zoom was somewhat bulky, with its 16MP sensor and 10x optical zoom sitting on the outside of body. This device appears to be much more flush.

Specs attributed to this device appear to be good, coming with a 20MP sensor, 10x optical zoom, 4.8″ HD display, Exynos 5 Hexa processor, 2GB of RAM, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and will come running Android 4.4.2 with Samsung’s newly revamped TouchWiz UI on top.

What are your thoughts on the design? Could be worse, right?

Curious what the price will be. If it operates as a phone as well and comes in around $500, I could see it having some appeal. Size will likely be a substantial deterrent for many, but I don’t mind a little extra heft in exchange for a good camera. It’s a weird niche market though

Install Google+ on this thing, and get unlimited standard-size photo auto backups, and unlimited video backups (15 minutes or less)…. Nice…

I wonder how the quality of this is compared to Samsung’s other point-and-shoot cameras. Image quality aside, I wouldn’t say that it’s worth the extra money for for it being a smart camera…at least for me.

The s4 zoom is only a decent point and shoot. A millions times better optics than any other phone but mid range for a camera. My wife absolutely loves hers. I want a better sensor, so I’m hopeful about the s5 version.

I don’t see it catching on sadly, at least not now. Pretty cool product though.

seems to me that a “DSLR add on” to make a phone take awesome photos is the way to go.

Hopefully not, that way the price will drop through the floor and I can afford to pick it up off contract…

Looks a lot better than the first one. Wonder how thick it is now though since the lens isn’t popping out

If the pictures are much better than everything else I would pickup as a second phone for when I know I want good pics and don’t want to bring the DSLR. But again they would have to be much better than a S5 or Z2 or Moto X (jk).
