LG G2 Mini (LS885) Headed to Sprint, Still a Disappointing Device

The G2 Mini (LS885) from LG is headed to Sprint, so sayeth @evleaks. The device was made official back in February, and at the time, no US plans were announced. As of right now, there are still no official dates, but Evan is usually spot on with his information.

The G2 Mini, which we wished was more of a G2 Compact (featuring high end specs in a smaller package), isn’t the device many G2 fans would have hoped for.

There are two variants of the device for different global markets. Depending on the market, the device features a 4.7-inch qHD IPS (960 x 540) display, a Qualcomm 1.4GHz quad-core processor or Tegra 4i quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 8MP or 13MP rear-facing camera, comes powered by a 2,440mAh battery, and runs Android 4.4+.

While the device is decent enough for most markets, the US consumers are a bit spoiled by displays, so the G2 Mini with its 4.7″ qHD display is pretty upsetting.

Sprint probably won’t be the only carrier, so stay tuned for additional info.

    I actually wouldn’t mind this. I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss a phone’s quality because it’s smaller.

It is not LG G2 mini, if the UA profile is correct,
or the ls885’s ua profile is just a draft version.

  • gary

According to the LG LS885′s UA Profile, it will feature a display with a 1280×720 pixel resolution and run Android 4.4 KitKat. It will also come with a MSM8926 processor, 4G LTE, 1.3MP front camera, 8MP back camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM and up to 32GB of external storage.

2GB of RAM, 720p display and maybe a wee bit better processor and I think LG could have had a real winner here.

Where can I get the red back for the normal LG G2? I hate the glossy finish, that red looks nice. Anyone have any ideas?

As I post everywhere I am hoping the Sprint 720p Mini 2 combined with the best Tegra version with 13 megapixel camera will emerge with 2 GIGS RAM .

Mini G2 Pro, except for 2 GIGS RAM , the above features exist already.

Ugh, there is no excuse for that display on a 4.7″ phone. My 4″ Droid 4 runs at the identical resolution…. just stop it, LG, and put a 720p screen and the same processor into your mini phones instead

For real, the resolution and the ram are really disappointing for 2014 model.

Wahh my only hope is the next Moto X with a 1080p screen. I would LOVE for them to keep the screen 4.7 in. NO MORE than that! I’m sick of companies making gigantic 5.0/5.2 in screen phones. :/

    • The Narrator

The G2 is 5.2 and significantly smaller than the Note 2/Note 3, and about the same size as the Moto X/S4. Bring in bigger screens.

      • Grandchild David

I have held both devices in hands and made direct comparisons, and LG G2 is gigantic compared to Moto X. Moto X is probably the only flagship device out there that my smaller-than-average hands feel comfortable holding. G2 is still too big.

        • The Narrator

Well, I’m glad they don’t listen to people with small hands. I hope 5.5 and up is the new norm.

          • Grandchild David

That’s just simply selfish for you to say. I’m certainly not against big phones like Galaxy Note 3 and I understand the fact that those who have big hands will enjoy them. But give us people with small hands a break. We want phone with top-tier specs that we can actually hold comfortably with one hand as well.

      • DainLaguna

about the same size as the moto x? the g2 is a great phone, but this is wildly untrue. its not even close man. the moto x is barely bigger than an iphone.

        • robertkoa

Well I just got leaked specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 12 which will be released in 2020 in USA .

It will have an 18 ” Screen with 4 k resolution.

Unfortunately takes two people working together to make a call……

  • duke69111

They should’ve called it the LG G2 Reduced.
