TwitchCast Lets Users Stream Twitch.tv Streams to Chromecast

twitchcast

If you’re one of the many people who uses Twitch, the online video game broadcasting platform, you may want to pick yourself up a ChromecastTwitchCast is a free app that’ll let you view live Twitch streams on the big screen, a big win for hardcore Twitchers.

To get the Casting up and rolling, all you have to do is type in the name of the channel you want to stream from (I recommend a certain Eric, known as CPT_R3DEARD), hit the Chromecast button on the top bar, pick a stream quality, choose your Chromecast, and then press the big purple Cast button. In my tests, the app has worked fairly well.

TwitchCast is a mobile version of the website allowing users to do the same. Fans of Twitch, go try this one out and let us know how it works for you.

Anyone know if it works with the League of Legends LCS stream? Youtube doesn’t work with Chromecast for the LCS stream.

Yea it works and works pretty flawlessly. I’m watching the LCS as we speak. Only thing i noticed is that some of the gets cast gets cut off. But that just might be a resolution problem on my end.

Wow. That’s pretty awesome that devs are finally bringing great new apps to Chromecast, making the stream app even more cooler than before.

Yesterday, a dev brought a few classic games to the big screen via GamingCast which streams through Chromecast and hopefully soon, Koush will update his Mirror app to work with all phones, rooted and non-rooted, so that we all can enjoy great gaming from our phones on the big screen.

    Won’t that day be oh-so-sweet!

Hey, I’ve been waiting a very long time to be able to play games from my phone on my HDTV. I mean, damn…it’s a big wonder why this hasn’t happened yet, especially with all the great Android devs out there. Probably many restrictions is preventing that to happen I imagine.

I read this article, and the only thing I picked up about Twitch, is that it’s some sort of tv channel service…. so does that mean its like youtube and their youtube channels? or what?

    • http://www.droid-life.com/ Eric Rees

Kind of. It’s more live broadcasting though, and completely video game focused.

      • JRomeo

it would be nice if that tidbit was mentioned in the article.

        • Michael Vernon

Why? You have the ability to search Google and Wikipedia if you are unsure. Those who are interested in an app such as this will already know what Twitch is.

First sentence? It’s been there the entire time.

It’s like youtube with an emphasis on gaming content and livestreams/live chat.

It’s basically free live StarCraft 2 programming. lol.

There are TONS and TONS of channels focused on StarCraft 2 matches as well as lots and lots of MOBAs like DOTA 2 and League of Legends. It’s insanity. But hey, gamers love their MOBAs.

Great but you have to know the channel name so you have to go to official app get name then back in this one.
