The Droid Life Show: Episode 53

Want to take a guess as to what we’ll be talking about on tonight’s episode of the Droid Life Show? If you said, “Android Wear,” then you are correct. Google surprised us all yesterday with an unveiling of its new wearables platform that has already given us products to drool over from partners. We’ll decide if Google has figured out a correct smartwatch UI and also share thoughts on the Moto 360 and LG G Watch.

After we finish up with Android Wear, it’s on to immediate availability of the HTC One following its press event, new QHD devices making rounds, our favorite apps and games of the moment, plus more. It should be another hefty show.

We’ll be live at 6:00PM Pacific (9:00PM Eastern). Join us live through the embeds below!

If you can’t catch us live, be sure to subscribe through one of the various outlets listed.

Sorry I missed the how 🙁 Was there talk of the Moto X?

Is there any way to watch the episode without the Ron parts? It’s not his use of iOS, doesn’t bother me, but he’s completely negative for the sake of it, with no actual real points to stand on other than “well you know it’s Google we’re talking about” as if has a direct line into the board room. From looking at Tim’s face every time Ron talks I know I can’t be alone.

    • Keith

I thought I was the only one..he’s just negative to be negative. Very annoying. Usually I wont listen if he’s one. But its wear and I wanted to hear what the others thought.

This is the first one I have watched in a while, it’s now going to be a few more weeks before I watch one again.

    • Read this reply as I was watching and then heard the “well you know it’s Google we’re talking about” line. Totally agree with you. Made Ron sound like just another condescending iPhone fanboy…

Why would the 360 obviously not have mirasol?

  • huskerhog

Or my Note 3? Can’t watch the Droid Life Show on a Droid? That’s not right.

    • M3D1T8R

Both the Nexus 7 and the Note 3 are not Droids, which is just a marketing term for a few Verizon specific devices.

Incidentally, I’m having no problem viewing the show through the embedded YouTube stream above, on my Nexus 7 as I write this.

      • huskerhog

I see the embedded stream now. So Droid Life is all about those few Verizon specific devices?

        • M3D1T8R

No that’s just how it began, with the original Motorola Droid on Verizon in 2009. Now it’s more general Android, with mayne a slight Verizon emphasis, due to that history.

      • Stephen De La Rosa

Playing with phones in the VZW store the other day and overheard a guy ask a rep what the difference was between the Droid Ultra and the GS4. VZW guy says “They’re both Droids but Motorola and Samsung decided to go different ways with it”.

How can I connect to the show on my Nexus 7?

  • Chris

Looking forward to the show as always but I’m especially excited to see Tim and Ron battle over android wear. Tim has been flexing a little Twitter muscle lately. Should be fun…

  • Daeshaun Griffiths

okay, maybe not a full blown app, but a widget? a droidlife widget. Maybe notifications? Breaking news alerts to the 360?

    • I may or may not be experimenting with creating a DL app myself. Current beta looks and works terribly, but hopefully I’ll make some headway this coming year 😛

      • Kevin

Is that Google Glass on your profile pic?

    • Thomas

      Just follow DL on Twitter

      • Daeshaun Griffiths

DL icon >>>>> Twitter icon. its not a blog, its a lifestyle.

but on a more serious note, the rumored “following favorites” from twitter could be useful.
