Amazon Offers Up Good List of Apps for Free Through Appstore, Save Yourself $19

Android folks who love a good deal, yes that’s all of us, can head on over to the Amazon Appstore this morning to pick up a few free apps. Surprisingly, all of the apps aren’t completely worthless, and there are a few great titles, such as Wheel of Fortune, Ski Safari, and Gravity Guy. They may not be super popular these days, but if you missed these apps while they were in their prime, you can definitely enjoy them now for free instead of a combined $19.

Of course, you will need to have the Amazon Appstore installed on your device, but don’t worry, the app is a lot better than it used to be. You shouldn’t see any excessive battery drain coming from it like we did back in the Android 4.1 days. Good times!

Check out the full list below and follow those links.

Free apps on Amazon

Not worth the DRM hassle of the Amazon App Store and the fact that you can’t use the apps if you aren’t signed in on the App Store. Especially irritating when it randomly signs you out.

    • Kevin

      Yes just pirate them.

      • BigTimmay

Why the f would you do that? What are you, 12?

        • Kevin

Because Amazon App Store is a POS. I’d rather pirate something that’s giving on Amazon for free than having to deal with the bloatware installed on my devices. But before I’d pirate I’d rather buy it off the Google Play Store to support the developers. And if you really care about developers you wouldn’t be supporting Amazon’s sh*tty policy that’s screwing over developers. http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/app-developers-call-amazon-appstore-rotten

Gravity Guy, Sonic Jump, and Ski Safari are all worthy of your time! Especially the INSANELY fun Ski Safari! If you haven’t played that game yet, then you have no idea what kind of fun you’ve been missing out on! Trust me, download and play that game NOW!

    • JMonkeYJ

Unfortunately the version of Ski Safari they’re giving away only works on Kindle Tablets 🙁 I had considered backing Buddy and Me on Kickstarter, so I’m pretty happy that it’s included.

    • Kevin

I’d rather pirate them than download them from the Amazon App Store.

      • EvanTheGamer

        Okay, Mr. Law Breaker.

        • Kevin

Okay, Mr. I follow all the rules.

Edit: on a serious note, I don’t pirate apps. I buy all my apps to support the developers.

  • g0vt_h00ker

Not sure why anyone would actually pay for android apps when finding the APK is as easy as 30 seconds of googling

    • dsDoan

Aside from the obvious ethical reasons, purchasing an app allows automatic updates. Manual updates are a frequent annoyance when all your installed apps are pirated.

      • charesa39

That, and some of those cracked apps can be kind of shady.

      • Kevin

Good thing Google is stepping up in side loading apks. Amirite?

    • EvanTheGamer

Because some of us are honest, decent, hard-working individuals.

      • Kevin

Honest question here. What’s the difference between pirating an apk and getting it free in the Amazon App Store if Amazon is giving it away? Because I heard developers don’t get paid for giving their app away. I’d rather buy the app off the Play Store rather than Amazon’s App Store.

        • EvanTheGamer

Because it’s legal the Amazon way. Should be pretty obvious…

    • trwb

Half of those “free” apk’s you find most likely have malicious code in them.

    • Nathaniel Webb

Things like honesty, integrity, and supportive. Those words are in the dictionary if you need to look them up.

    • droidify

You are the reason so many great paid apps aren’t offered in an android version. I hate a damn thief.

  • whoa

Not worth having to keep appstore installed to use these apps

    • Kevin

      Agreed just pirate them.

      • EvanTheGamer

        Okay, Mr. Law Breaking Spammer.

  • TheDave1022

I wont install the amazon app store, but If you have a kindle, it’s a good deal.

    • Miguel

I haven’t used Amazon app store in more than a year even though I had plenty of app that I got for free.

    • John

      But…..Ski Safari!

It reminds me Skifree, which most IT folks can remember:

    • Kevin

Or you can just pirate them without having to install the Amazon App Store.

    • socalrailroader

      Why not?

      • TheDave1022

Cause it’s another app store to check for updates and so on. I’d rather have everything in the play store and check one place for apps/updates. If I had a kindle, that would be different as that’s the appstore for that device.

        • socalrailroader

          That make sense, good points.

  • Trent Russell

Honest question- do people use the amazon app store? i haven’t in years.

    • The Narrator

It’s bloatware on my phone, so I use it every once in a while

    • mjmdroid

I do , just because of Google banned #DroidTV primetime from the play store…. i don`t want to installed it from chinese websites

      • Trent Russell

        Ah, that’s interesting.

    • dsDoan

Amazon offers occasional free credits to their App Store, and an occasional useful app free-of-charge. I’ve gotten SwiftKey, Swype, Wolfram|Alpha, and OfficeSuite Professional at no cost. I keep the Amazon App Store installed specifically for these four apps. After purchasing these apps, I still have a $5 credit, having spent nothing to get any of the credits or free apps.

    • funkylovemonkey

I just use it because I got Swiftkey for free ages ago, back when they actually offered good free apps. Keep it on so I can update swiftkey… that’s about it.

    • EvanTheGamer

I’ve used the Amazon Appstore for the last few years. But basically only for the Free App of the Day, which has also been going on for a few years now. Some of their FAotD are actually really high quality. Some are even $5-10, but those apps are rare.

      • KleenDroid

        I agree.

        • BigTimmay

    • CHRIS42060

I have it installed because I got Swiftkey for free a while ago, and it is my preferred keyboard. I have a Kindle also so sometimes I will install other apps on my phone or other tablet.

      • i use it for swiftkey as well

      • George Davis

I actually re-bought SwiftKey from the Play Store when it went on sale awhile back just so I could delete the Amazon Appstore from my phone. That thing is such a resource hog. Wouldn’t be so bad now on my Droid Maxx but on the Bionic every little bit of RAM counted. Definitely don’t regret it.

    • Kevin

      Only people with kindles.

    • T4rd

Yup, still have a few apps I got free through it that I use a lot. I use Greenify to keep the Amazon App store from running in the background too.

    • socalrailroader

I do, I’ve snagged some great deals on free apps of the day.
