Thanks to New Bug, YouTube Playlists Tab Has Disappeared on iOS and Android App (Updated)

youtube_update

Sometimes, new functionality brings new issues. Such seems to be the case with saved playlists in the YouTube app for iOS and Android, which have disappeared for a number of users

The problem, which we at Droid Life can independently confirm, is that the playlist shortcut in the sliding menu of the YouTube app has been removed; playlists haven’t actually disappeared, but are no longer easily accessible on mobile. It’s probable that the bug is related to the desktop design refresh Google announced yesterday, but we will have to wait for a comment from the Google or YouTube team before we are certain that’s the case.

Google hasn’t yet acknowledged the bug, but they’ll probably deploy a fix sooner rather than later. For now, you can access your playlists by navigating to the web version of YouTube and starting them from there.

Update: An employee participating in the Google Product Forum thread posted this:

Thanks for reporting this, everyone. Be sure to note if you’re experiencing this on your Apple or Android device (or desktop) when reporting. We’re looking into a fix!

Temporarily you can go to m.youtube.com/my_playlists on your mobile device to access your playlists.

Update 2: Playlists appear to be visible again.

Cheers Joffe!

I was shocked when I didn’t find my playlist.
    Really, what stupidity !!!

My playlists have also vanished. I am using samsung galaxy 3 tablet. I can still see them if I open the internet browser but when using the youtube program in android it doesn’t show anything. I hope they fix this soon

It’s missing on my N5 and N7’13, but is still there on my DNA…

  • Korramatta

Hello from Sweden. Thanks for the post. I was wondering why the playlist link disappeared today.

Anyone else notice that YouTube on Desktops has been updated?

    • AbbyZFresh

      Not mine yet.

      • Tyler Casilio

You sure? The top where the logo and search bar is is now White. There’s a = menu bar next to the Logo that can hide all the categories on the side. The background is now grey and not white of YouTube and when you are on a profile page and scroll down it does a similar thing to what happens here on Droid Life, where the top follows you. Nothing major, I wish they would realllly update it

Maybe add true HD, no more crap compression, long list of things needed to be fixed.

So I may be having issues with YouTube and not Verizon. Over the past few months I thought my Verizon service was dropping big time. I’ve had some issues with Web browsing, but most of my issues have been streaming YouTube. I guess maybe it’s just YouTube that is causing all the buffering while on 4g and watching SD (NOT EVEN HD) videos.

Edit: I use to watch HD without buffering, or rarely buffering while on 4g. I could watch SD on 3g with minimal buffering.

You can set it to HQ in settings, or per video.

      • The Narrator

Yeah i know, but it still looks like crap for some reason

Download supertube if you have an android phone. It will allow you to watch up to 1080p videos on your phone as long as it can support it. Also the Playlist tab is still working.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Damnnnn you Google!!!…. Anyway as long as I can find Droid Life in my Subscription list… And Lisa.

    • Jeff C

      Lisa?

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Don’t really want to promo another tech blog on DLife so I was trying to be discrete. But there’s only one woman who’s tech reviews matter on Youtube and her name is Lisa.

        • The Narrator

Ah, MTR. She’s pretty good. Just the videos are bland.
