the ipad air is 20$ cheaper but with this you get a bigger screen… It is the first of its kind of course they can charge that

  • Eric Cappa

    This needs to be $500.

  • wmsco1

That’s a Hundred dollar’s per inch! More. Better to buy lab top with keyboard among other things.

  • 6stringslinger

$849.99?? I don’t THINK so…. Would you take $249.99 for it, Sammy? Holy cow! For $850, I could make 4 car payments!! I guess somehow, I will have to live without it.

  • Jordan

Considering I am in need of a tablet, I was all for this one,..until I read the price.

  • LionStone

    They are cold hard trippin!

  • Blue Sun

    $850 USD for Touchwiz?

    Umm, no…

  • wmsco1

Failed. Did not pass the Price Test. Nope sorry my give-a-dam just busted..

  • Scott

Just the BS introductory Samsung MSRP so they can say it’s 50% at $425 in a month. Even then I can do without!

  • Ken

It is released on 2/13/2014 and Samsung will stop updating it on 2/14/2014.

  • Maxim∑

I was going to trade my iPad air in for the note pro, but at 849$ NOPE. I would rather buy a surface pro 2 for that money or better a laptop…

    • hfoster52

Almost the price for a Yoga 2.

  • [A]dri[A]n

Looking at around $930 after taxes. Good luck with that.

  • 213ninja

i guess i’m not shocked at this price point, but i am disappointed. would anyone rather have this over an ultrabook? There are several new ultrabooks out there one can get around 800 – 1000 with similar touchscreen display quality, more storage, and probably better performance (proc/RAM/GPU)…not to mention desktop operating systems….i know people think comparing the two is apples to oranges but not really in 2014, and not at this price point…..for almost a grand you can and will do the same shitt on either, right? i mean clearly they aren’t building this for someone to watch cat vidz on youtube all day…not that i have anything against watching lolcatz all day….

  • Guy Meatdrapes

i would actually buy an ipad before that overpriced touchwiz bloated piece of crap. BRING OUT THE PITCHFORKS I CAN TAKE IT!

    • Cameron Nelson

OMG THIS IS DROID YOU ISHEEP!! Blah blah blah.

Couldn’t agree more. Samsung is starting to get as bad as Apple with their products. Same thing over and over with an outrageous price and Touchwiz.. They are getting ahead of themselves and need to tone it back!

    • wmsco1

Bet you can’t hold water. Lol

  • clay

better than the $799 i spent on my xoom

    • wmsco1

I was thinking the same. It was the xoom that started the manufacturer to lower prices on tablets. A lot of people waited till it was $500.00. History Repeat it’s self.

  • Droid Ronin

    $850? That’s like 5 Nexus 7s!

  • Not so much…way too expensive.

  • Philip J. Fry

    • Menger40

Wait… there are no features in that picture, so you’re saying that you’ll

  • Alex Boro

  • Pedro

That makes that big button worth about $200? And $50 for each capacitive button.
The 64GB is kind of nice, though.

  • Trev

Hey guys, here’s a promo code for $100 off a moto x: VDayX-QWPX-Z9KE-62WD-LLKN ..thought I was going to use it but not after Lenovo bought Motorola.

  • Mike

    a mere $150 more than a note 3

  • Intellectua1

Holy crap, and this would’ve been my 1st tablet purchase.. I was expecting it to be in the $500-$600 range but $850 I’ll pass..

    • John Legere

      The 10.1 is $599 lol

      • Intellectua1

Yea I was hung up on this 12.2, I was in love with the screen size.. Would mostly be to control wifi devices in my house and to stop getting any and all paper subscriptions convert everything to digital.. You know save some trees..

      • Maxim∑

why cant it be 499? make its price competitive with iPad or something

where is the 2nd gen N10…..

        • droidify

Tell me more about the iPad. Please.

          • Maxim∑

I guess you dont understand the tablet space to well

          • droidify

No, apparently you don’t understand the tablet space. You are comparing the 16GB 9.7″ iPad to a 64GB with a 12.2 inch screen. I think it is overpriced too but your bias isn’t allowing you to make a real comparison. The 64GB iPad is $699. That should be the model you are speaking of, not the $499 base model. Considering the screen is by far the most expensive piece of the puzzle, that is probably the price difference. The 12.2 is over 40% larger. http://www.displaywars.com/9,7-inch-4×3-vs-12,2-inch-16×9

          • Maxim∑

            You still don’t

          • droidify

            Explain it to me please.
So you are on an android website comparing every device to an apple product. People on this site aren’t considering iPads and iPhones. Not to mention you are comparing apples to oranges. So explain to me how picking the base model iPad and comparing it to the highest-line Samsung makes sense? If you were commenting on the new 16gb 10.1 pro that IS priced comparable to the 9.7 inch 16gb iPad. That would make sense but that wouldn’t support your argument so you compare the top of the line to the bottom of the line. It’s so ignorant and fanboyish.

    • Alisan_C

It’s samsung 😉 they start with pretty high prices only to drop it 200$ after a week.

      • Intellectua1

Yea I was thinking that also… Like how long will it take for the price to drop..

        • Gus

50% of the tablet market is Samsung out there, they have flooded the market with 20 different tablets, for every cheap arse tablet out there samsung has one too at 500% markup from the cheap one.

It’s almost like Samsung is competing against itself in the tablet market.

      • John Legere

Somehow the 10.1 stays around $549-599

  • Adam Nazare

holy crap! I totally wouldn’t buy this. I getting the Transformer TF701T with the keyboard for like $500 has same screen resolution, 2gb of ram(can live with it) and a tegra 4 chip.

    • Intellectua1

Lol we both started off our posts with Holy Crap, at the same time too.. That ticket price is a shocker

  • Philip J. Fry

    No thanks samsung.

  • AbbyZFresh

Does Samsung think they’re Apple by pricing these things to a ridiculous prices?

Who in their right mind would buy this garbage?

    • sagisarius

Business! Is a business thing for business doings, and business people need flashy business things. They can leverage their synergies!

      • John Legere

        What i got from this

        Don’t trust a business person.

        • sagisarius

Go to iStockPhoto, and type in “business” that’s pretty much what I was picturing.

      • Menger40

+1 for data driven, results oriented leveraging of multifaceted synergies

      • Blue Sun

        Don’t forget “turn key”!

    • Maxim∑

Last time I checked iPad Air was 499$ not 849$ at base price. iPad is restrictive but in terms of hardware the best in the industry

      • droidify

I can always depend on you to take every article on this site and turn it into an apple orgy.

        • Maxim∑

ok “droidify” I get it, you cannot except talk of competition

          • droidify

          • OMEGA

dunkoff doesn’t know the difference between except and expect and spell check (which is automatic)

Really shows the I.Q. of fanboy twits.

          • droidify

I think he was shooting for accept.

      • Dusty

Well this comes with 64GB of storage, so the 64GB iPad Air is $699. So for basically $150 more you get a bigger screen, stylus and the AMAZING home button… /s
I have the 2013 Note 10.1 and i can’t stand the home button… had the 2012 version before but got it replaced for free to 2013 version so can’t really complain but not having on screen buttons suck =/

        • Maxim∑

Yeah the home button is a bit weird on that aspect ratio. Seems like Samsung wants to stick with it to for a while -.-…. maybe it was for the s-pen stuff

I wonder what the 10.1 Pro’s price is

          • droidify

to answer your question, the 8.4 pro is $399. 10.1 pro is $499. 12.2 pro starts at $649. This is exactly why I told you that comparing the 16gb 9.7″ ipad with the 64gb 12.2 pro was silly. Now you can compare the 10.1 to the ipad. That comparison would make sense.

      • chris125

that also isn’t for 64 gb of storage either though…..

  • John Legere

    So. 12gb usable with Touchwiz?

  • Guest

    HAHA screw that.

  • Sporttster

Not sure on what planet they think this will sell at that ridiculous price…..I can buy a laptop bigger touch screen more functionality for less! Why would I buy this???

    • John Legere

A MacBook air with Haswell. 128gb, 13in screen, is only $150 more.

      • Adrynalyne

        And infinitely more useful.

      • Aooga

If you wanted a higher res screen, the lenovo yoga pro is an ever better option. Yes I know 8.1 sucks at DPI scaling.

  • Astromek21

Who the heck is buying these things?

  • Hopefully the 32GB is quite a bit less.

  • mcdonsco

Jesus…size and price are a huge no!

  • T4rd

    LOL, no.

Surface Pros are available at Best Buy right now for $500. I think I’ll take a full PC OS and hardware over any Galaxy Tab, esp for < $850.
