Nexus 5 in Red Press Render Leaked

We have seen Mr. Blurry Cam shots of the Nexus 5 in Red plenty of times, but we finally appear to have an official leaked press render of the device from none other than evleaks. The timing seems right, as the device is to reportedly launch on Google Play next week, February 4

Is it sexy or is it really sexy?

Via: @evleaks
  • Red is my favorite color, but I would not buy this.

  • Jane Bori

This red color is really beautifull. I have a black Nexus 5 and will maybe switch for this red one ;). Or maybe I’ll wait for the galaxy s5 😀

  • It’s really sexy. Now I’m bummed that I bought a white one 4 weeks ago 🙁

  • Mike H.

I wish there was a blue one coming out! I remember the renders that were posted back in october and blue was definitely cool.

  • abhele

some way to get changeable backs for my black n5 😉 ?

  • Capt. Crunch

    MKBHD edition?

  • Aooga

The wallpaper messes it up. It actually looks nice, but whoever chose a pink wallpaper on a red phone is an idiot.

  • Junaid Ansari

I don’t think it’s that good looking. The red is wayyy to bright. Tone that brightness just a tad bit and it would really look sexyyy

  • Cael

Might just get this…I wish the fron could have been white or that was an option though :

  • Michael Tate

RED … does that mean it will work on the Verizon network? 😉

    • greyhulk

No. It would have to come with a ton of bloatware, a locked bootloader, and at least two Verizon logos.

      • Michael Tate

        So, so, so TRUE!

    • Cael

If they wanted to pull a Nexus 7 on us…

  • pookietookie

Totally reminds me of the original Droid Incredible from back in the day…

  • moelsen8

eh, not for me. it’s way too obnoxiously red. that said, i’m glad there’s options for the people out there who do like it!

    • greyhulk

      AYEYAYEYAAA!! I’ll be black!

  • charesa39

Wow! That looks incredibly sexy. I’d totally go for that color if I didn’t already have my black one.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

  • Ryan Callihan

That actually does look really snazzy. I wanna see one in green…

  • Philip J. Fry

Still would like a blue option

    • Blue Sun

Me too. I’m hoping for a blue similar to my avatar… one can hope.

      • Philip J. Fry

That or the blue that HTC used on the one

        • MichaelFranz

          best buy blue?

  • Blue Sun

That red speaker on the front of the device is really messing with me.

    • Qbancelli

Yeah, that red dot is tacky to say the least.

    • Walter Partlo

It looks like a thinkpad nub.

  • Dan

  • James Briano

If I didn’t already have on in black, I’d scoop this up.

  • New to Nexus

Off topic question here. I just got a 32 GB black Nexus 5. I won’t have time to go to T-Mobile until Sunday (Screw you Verizon) , can I root it before getting service from T-Mo, or should I wait until after.

    • MichaelFranz

you should be able to do that dn unlock it just through ADB commands and such. I would wait though just to make sure you have no problems activating it on TMO

    • moelsen8

i don’t think t-mobile is going to care if a phone you bought off contract is rooted. i highly doubt they’d be looking for that. aside from thinking they would notice and take offense, rooting it won’t have an affect on activation..

    • Pedro

I had mine unlocked and rooted before putting the SIM in.
      Nothing to worry about.

But do unlock before anything else. Unlocking wipes the entire phone.

  • SplashMTN

Like the red, but I’m not digging it on the front speaker. I didn’t mind the white as much, but this just looks off to me.

  • Cory_S

I’ve seen the blurry cam shots…every time I use my camera 🙁

  • Justtyn Hutcheson

Not my cup of tea, but if it means more Nexii sold, I’m all for it.

  • blackjaguar25

I wonder if the finish will be more like the white N5 or the black one. I’m hoping for black.

  • John Legere
  • Edward Smith

The only issue I have with this leak image is that on my white one, I can’t see the white from looking directly at the front because the band that wraps around the device is black. So did Google change that and make the band red for this version, seems strange that they would do that for this version but not on the White N5, don’t you think? Make me think this is a fake.

    • Jeff Helget

I would tend to guess that it’s more akin to the black version, where the soft-touch material stays consistent over the back and sides of the device. If that is indeed the case, then the red ring would be visible from the front as shown. Source: I have the black one.

  • Liderc

Red Nexus 5, giving all Nexus 5’s a bad name.

    Seriously, thing looks lolbad.

    • Mackster248

The thing about colors is…. That it’s subjective. 🙂

      • Liderc

Not when it makes it look like plastic.

        • Mackster248

The thing about plastic devices is…. That it’s subjective. 😛

Lol, in all seriousness, these are just pictures. We don’t know what this looks like in person. Either way, it’s never bad to have options. Options are wonderful.

        • John Legere

I’m confused. It’s always looked like plastic. Just be glad it isn’t Samsung plastic.

          • Liderc

Um, the Nexus 5 isn’t plastic. It’s body may be made out of plastic but the feel is NOT plastic. It’s soft touch. The black doesn’t look like plastic at all, it looks like high quality soft touch material. You can call it what you want, but it’s not traditional shiny plastic like is seen on Samsung devices. With the red (in the pictures) it looks like the cheap plastic, that’s why I pointed it out.

          • John Legere

That’s what I meant, if you read what I said.
