Motorola Hosting Hour-long $100 Off Sale on Moto X Devices, Starts January 27

Moto X

Still looking to score a Moto X? Maybe at a discounted price? Motorola announced a new sale that is set to take place next Monday on January 27. The deal will only last a single hour online, beginning at 3pm EST and ending at 4pm EST. During that time frame, you can grab an off contract Moto X for $100 off of the full retail price – $299 for the 16GB model and $349 for the 32GB model.

Motorola doesn’t want anyone to worry though, because even if you miss this $100 off fire sale on Monday, Moto X phones will remain at $70 off of the full contract price until Valentine’s Day in February.

Supplies will be limited on Monday, and it’s a first come first served basis, so have your credit cards ready to go at 3pm EST if you are hoping to grab one.

On Monday January 27th, we’re kicking off our Valentine’s Day sale with an extra sweet deal: $100 off any Moto X without a contract from 3pm-4pm ET. This deal is only available for one hour, while supplies last. If you miss out, don’t worry. You can get $70 off any Moto X without a contract through Valentine’s Day.

For anyone who need a code, I won’t be using this today afterall. VDayX-KNSC-GOMQ-T5NA-DQPF

  • Higher_Ground

They are trying really, really hard to get my money :)

  • Jimmy Debacher

This is what I’ll be getting. If it doesn’t crash! Lol.

  • Andrew Romero

I hope they do something with accessories as well for this sale. Anyone know if they will?

  • beav

Awesome. Right after I buy one on eBay for a similar price.

  • Deepak

Can I purchase it online and use it in India ?

  • Vanquishgc

Man, I really wish I had the expendable cash to get one, because I would be all over this. I love my Note 2, but I do have a second phone I use for business, and wouldn’t mind replacing it with a Moto X. I’d probably even settle for the 16 GB version…

  • Raven65

Remember when Motorola offered $100 trade-in rebates for Droid X2’s to suckers (like me) who were unlucky enough to have bought one of those turds? Well, I never traded mine in… still have it in a drawer… and that offer was supposed to be good through June 30, 2014. I just finished an online chat session with Motorola support and was told that this offer IS good toward the purchase of a new Moto X! Whoo Hoo! New Moto X without a contract for $199! …which drops to less than $100 after I sell my Razr on Swappa! Sweet!

    • Higher_Ground

      awesome deal!

    • Ivo Shandor

wait a tick, I have a DX2 also, how did you get the rebate/ trade in info?

  • emoney

just bought a moto x last week, is there any way to get a portion of the $399 back once it drops the $70??

    • Ben F.

I think you can get a credit because it’s within the 14 day return window.

  • adh328

Ugh I have an htc one… If I buy this phone, am I going to be disappointed with my purchase or be disappointed that a new one is coming out?

    • adh328

I feel like they’re doing this to get rid of inventory for some reason…

      • Suman Gandham

Probably a fair call… which excites me, as it means Moto X2 is around the corner :)

  • NBM

    damn… I’m glad I didn’t buy one at 600-650… because I was really close!

  • Ted

With the lay offs of Motorola field reps, remaining reps being told no phones for q1 or q2 and now this continuous spiral of price drops, it unfortunately is a bad sign in my own opinion for Motorola. Products are great but a little to late to please the masses ..

With that I’m planning on getting myself a wood back version.

  • Christian Trevor Clauss

Just talked to Motorola! Since I am within the 14 days return, I can contact them on the day of the sale to request a $100 credit!

    • Jem

      So…everyone should just do that.

    • Jarred Sutherland

You’re so awesome for putting this here! I’ll be calling Monday to get my wife’s phone discounted :)

    • Brett Wcislo

I tried to do this and they told me they don’t know what they were doing yet. Called 2 more times, got the same answer.

I did however get free $40 earbuds and a free screen protector. Combine that with the free case I already got from them and the $50 off coupon lol. I’m not complaining too much. If I get money back, sweet! If I don’t, I already got a HELLUVA deal.

  • Ry Sav

if i can use my $50 off coupon with this, i will easily be picking one up (If im lucky enough)

  • Rob Mahlert

    SWEET!
My Contract ends on the 27th and my birthday IS Valentines day!
    Thank You Dennis!

    Teak or Walnut??????????????????????????????????

    • Cameron Nelson

Walnut for sure. I mean look at how sexy it is!

  • kselby

What would that come out to be after tax in Cali? Anybody know?

  • Corey Morreale

Damn. I just ordered one. I hope they issue a credit or I will be returning.

  • zurginator

    Son of a… Just bought a N5.

  • mcdonsco

Just got the lg g2, luckily i wasnt an early adopter on it (had maxx before), but at $350 if they do the dev edition as well ill likely get it if for no other reason than to play with roms before installing them on my g2.

    • ytcracka

i was thinking about getting the maxx…what made you change to the G2?

  • a) youth.in.asia

I wonder if I can couple this with my $50 off coupon I have.

    • Steveo

Any word on this? If yes, I’m in.

    • bpcooper14

I was wondering the same thing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/robstunner Rob Wisz

Great! Good thing I just bought one today

  • Magnious

You really want me to renew my contract with Verizon to get this phone…jesus…I really want to switch.

    • NexusMan

The sale is off contract only.

  • Foo

    Sooo… Nexus 5 vs Moto X?

I am being told the N5 is a faster device and transitions (e.g. scrolling, switching tasks) are visibly faster. That so?

    • AbbyZFresh

I have both phones and yes, the Nexus 5 is still better at speed and transitions than the Moto X, but not by very much. You only notice the speed difference with the Chrome browser. Both phones seem to run graphic intensive games quite well.

    • Nikuliai

And the Moto X is the first phone I had that doesn’t heat up while gaming, but yeah, the N5 is slightly faster, but just a little

  • Guest

Does this include the developer edition?

  • Pedro

It’s really, really starting to look like they can’t keep all those folks in Fort Worth busy.
Still, I’ve got my N4 as a backup to the N5 if I challenge gravity and lose. Dev edition minus a hundred, along with the couple hundred I can get on Swappa for the N4…

    • AbbyZFresh

Well it’s time to expand to the rest of the world then. Theres far more people waiting to buy the Moto X with MotoMaker outside America since America is still lovestruck with Apple and Samsung to care much about Motorola outside of tech enthusiasts. All Motorola needs to do is keep the price down and they’re set.

      • Pedro

I don’t know. The latest rumo(u)r has the EU building MotoMaker devices in an EU facility.
Working in oil/gas, I know for a fact that ‘local content’ is a big deal for the North Sea. I’m guessing that that the rules also pass to electronics. Ireland has created a bunch of jobs based on that theory.

        • NexusMan

Wherever Moto Maker is available, Motorola will build the phones in said country.

  • Hothfox

Hopefully we don’t have a mob of people carrying on about how they bought it one month ago for $100 more and now they want credit / refunds. I got mine in December for $420 and I love it to pieces and can’t even be mad about the additional price drop.

    • needa

got mine with motocare for $726.50. then a month later they dropped the price. the way i see it… that is the price ou pay for early adopting. the good news is i know i can easily upgrade year after year by waiting for the moto flash sales.

      • Nathan Borup

Bought mine 7 days ago… I should get credit back since the promo starts within my 14 day grace period

        • xpyroxcorex

Being that its an hour only sale probably not. That’s like black Friday price matching. Now that its announced everybody would buy today, refund the 27th.

          • Nathan Borup

Well they also are doing another promo of $70 until feb 2nd… I talked to someone at motorola, but they couldn’t give me an answer since they don’t really know the details just yet

  • paticao

this is the price that they should’ve launched this phone

    • AbbyZFresh

The only reason the price was so high was to test the waters for people who truly wanted the Moto X and not just playing around with the idea. It seems Motorola finally decided to lower the price after they felt comfortable enough with the amount of early adopters and their feedback.

    • Tirionfive

$299? Nah, Moto has to make a profit somewhere. After all, Google is selling the N5 at near cost, or even subsiding it. Moto needs to turn a profit as well to remain in Google’s graces.

And if you’re talking about specs, Get over it. Spec war is (Thankfully) over. we don’t need 16 core processors with 32gb ram. Dual-core is fine, just look at the iPhone.

    • NexusMan

      SO tired of hearing that.

      • Hothfox

Seriously. I don’t think the phone was worth nearly $600 off contract, but I’m satisfied with the $420 I paid for mine during the Holidays. I probably would have paid up to $500 off contract for a 32GB. $299 for a 16GB is just a ridiculously good deal.

        • michael arazan

Now everyone will think Not To Buy it again when the second one comes out. Everyone is going to wait for the deals again.

          • Hothfox

If I buy off contract, $450 is my sweet spot since I usually get a “new” phone every year. Usually that means I’ll buy it used or wait about 6 months after launch. You’re right – I probably won’t buy the new Moto X right away. I’ll wait until the holidays to see what deals they’ll have like I did this year.

    • runner30

They should have released it for free. It’s not like businesses need to make money. We all know they are benevolent benefactors who soul purpose is to rain charitable freebies down upon us.

  • that1techguy

Wow, now thats an amazing price. Just received mine yesterday, love the thing.

  • AbbyZFresh

Now when are you guys releasing the next generation Moto X?

    • NexusMan

After THIS sale is over. :)

  • PhillipCun

    Applies to wood too?

    • paticao

      100 of any moto x

  • Cael

    I NEED MOENYYYYYYY!

  • wmsco1

Wow! I JUST GOTTA HAVE A WOOD BACK!! Aaah O0ow slurp.

  • WCM3

    Motomaker crashing in 3… 2…

    • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

If it doesn’t crash, I plan on ordering this:

      • Kisuk3

        Me2 :D

  • moew

Why do I need another Moto X?

    • AbbyZFresh

To give to family and friends. To spread the word that Motorola is serious about improving user experience on Android with their new catalog. To show that Samsung is not the only OEM to buy from when considering an Android phone that is cheap.

      • moew

that’s good enough. I’ll buy a second one!

        • needa

dont they have a buy back. i know my brother was considering getting a wood back yesterday because they would buy his back for $180.

          • CaptainCaleb

            motorolatradein.com

      • clobberedchina

I’d get one for a family member if she’d give up her Droid 4… but no sale. One of these days someone is going to have to make a good phone for the slide out keyboard crowd.

    • AngryBadger

To share with other badgers, just a thought…

  • http://www.coroflot.com/mellerad Adam Meller

Really wish I could get a Dev Edition with the Ebony back. I hate this white carbon fiber weave look it has.

  • JonathonFlores

And to think I bought mine for $199 on contract w/Verizon. #earlyadopter

Wonder if it applies to the dev edition… Might have to buy another one.

    • Walker Citterman

Agreed, probably just gonna do the 70 deal so I can get some funds for it.

    • Nikuliai

      it does apply ;)

  • Philip J. Fry

Got a nexus 5, but I can’t resist a deal like this. Keep doing what you’re doing Dennis.

    • ragnarok180

Same here. I have a Nexus 5 but I’m going to jump all over this.

    • Justin Larmay

What’s the point if having two phones? Especially two phones with different size Sim cards so you cant even swap phones on the fly.

      • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

        SIM adapter for $1

        • Justin Larmay

Good point. Still don’t see the need for two phones. Unless your just stacked with cash that is and have a hard time trying to spend it.

  • Jonathan Bunch

Hope they are more prepared this time :)

  • Samvelavich

MOTO pls, at this rate, everyone in my family will have a Moto X! :( You know how much work that is for me?!?

  • Maxim∑

    I love this company
