The Droid Life Show: Episode 46

droid life show DL

Finally, the Droid Life Show is back at its normal time and place. Technically, this is our first show of the new year, so let’s start it off with a bang. We will have the full crew in attendance, and we will be covering all of the recent Android goodies that are making headlines. This week we will talk about HTC’s lack of support for devices that aren’t even two years old yet, Google’s acquisition of Nest, Motorola CEO’s love for Droid Life reader comments, and Kellen’s recent interview with a couple Moto execs during CES. And don’t worry, we will be talking all of our favorite new apps and games, as well.

The show kicks off at 6pm PST, 9pm EST. There is a livestream embedded below, which will automatically begin playing once the event starts. Until then, hang out in the Droid Life IRC channel and chat with us until showtime.

Gee guys, I can’t think of any reason to be concerned about google having more of your personal data. Nahhh. Just a bunch of tinfoil hats right guys?
How much did the taxpayer spend on fuel for Sergei and Erich’s planes? Sweet deal. Think the government expects anything in return? Is Schmidt know to be a privacy advocate you morons? Baaaaaaaaaaaaa said the moronic sheep.

Look at that beautiful mug on the YouTube video.

It’s the whole reason I had to watch. Lovin’ the beard bro ;)

Ok so Tim, when got the Galaxy Gear all you guys complained about on the show was stupid it is because all it does is notify you of a notification, but you still have to get your phone out to read or view the actual message. They came out with an update so now you can read your full messages from even 3rd part apps on the Gear. In last nights show you guys were discussing smart watches these smart bands and you said “all I need a message, an indicator, something telling me I have a message and then ill get my phone out and read it” Isn’t that totally contradicting yourself? That’s exactly what you guys complained about with the Gear. Am i missing something here?

But that’s the difference between smartwatches and smartbands. For a smartband, I don’t expect it to give me the full message or email on the display. On a smartwatch, I do. The Gear didn’t provide that at first, but now it does – which is why I used it so much in Vegas during CES. If I get a smartband, where the purpose is just to notify me that I have a notification, then that’s what I’m looking for. Hope that makes sense! :)

If you don’t want a smartwatch to be a phone replacement, then why isn’t everyone buying the pebble? Is it missing an ir blaster? I just don’t get it. Am I expecting too much? I’ve been preaching about smartbands for awhile, i see them as big players if they are durable. Maybe a classic watch with a ticker with options you can scroll through? just expressin, good show, thanks Ron for your side.

Moto would rock it out making more than one size, a mini (in size, not making it a crappy hardware) and a 5” would be awesome for the people that has different needs on size (even tho I’m not that sure of the mini thing, many people complain about the size of the Moto X, I find it to be perfect, but I have kind of big hands so it may be just me, but either way it looks like there is a need of a X8 system on a bigger and smaller size, or maybe even a phablet)

New DL Show drinking game : a shot every time Ron says “like” :)

I really need to work on that. It’s hard when commenting on the fly. I’d love to remove uh, um, and like from my vernacular.

      • Philip J. Fry

I don’t give a s*** what anybody says about you Ron, I like the input from both sides. Great show tonight guys.

Obama says uhh a lot, but he’s still a good president. Not everybody is a good speaker. It’s okay.

        • Philip J. Fry

          • John Legere

Oh well, i just wanted to say Obama was good. And then piss people off.
