Themer Beta Updated With Stability Fixes, More Themes Added

If the Plain Jane Android homescreen isn’t your taste, then we are sure you have already downloaded and tried out Themer from MyColorScreen. If you have not, it’s a simple launcher replacement app that automatically gives your phone an entirely new look and feel. If you don’t feel like spending countless hours constantly changing your homescreen’s appearance, then it will be perfect for you.

Anyways, the team behind the application has released an updated build, still nearing the official launch out of beta. The team states they have added in more stability fixes for multiple devices, and continue to ask for feedback and feature requests. Upon release, they want to make sure it has everything a user might need to make sure they don’t go back to another launcher.

The beta is completely open, so if you have yet to try it, now would be an excellent time. The team continues to add in very cool themes, so give it a shot.

Anyone here rocking Themer? What are your thoughts? Do you still like it? Did you go back to Nova or the stock launcher? We want to hear your thoughts.

    Does Themer support gestures?

    • Marco Agas

Themer supports gestures, for free 🙂

  • Sam

I have it on my Note 3. One of the best apps DL has suggested IMO. Good work on the app. I wish it would remove the TouchWiz skin even more.

    Good work MyColorScreen,

I want to give Nova launcher a try on my Galaxy S4. Does anyone recommend any good free weather widgets? I kinda like the TW weather widget but obviously cant use it with Nova.

    • Guest

HD widgets and beutiful widgetsare good

    • bnm27

the Yahoo Weather widgets aren’t horrible (I prefer to remove the flickr photos personally), but the app itself is beautiful. I’ve converted more than one TW weather users to it…

    • scastro87

      HD widgets

  • Dana Alan

Actually, I like the change. And, it is beta, so it’s not perfect, and not final. If there is something you don’t like, or you think something can be improved, give them your feedback.

    • Marco Agas

Thanks Dana, we really appreciate all the feedback, as it’s the users that let us know what to improve on.

  • HowEasy

The fact that all of the themes hide the notification bar and if you turn it back on it breaks most themes is such a turn off to me. I need my notification bar and without it feel like I have to go through extra steps just to check if I have notifications.

I know I can pull down on a spot on the screen to make it show, but even that requires more effort. Not to mention that its not personalizable (Is that a word?) enough for me. I know that is kinda the point of the app but still..

    • Marco Agas

Hi HowEasy, we understand people’s love for the notification bar, which is why a few themes have the bar built into them. Soon more themes will include a notification bar, which will soon be transparent.

  • BobButtons

It irritates the hell out of me that they put shortcuts into categories (such as Candy Crush in Games) that you can’t get rid of.

    • Dana Alan

      Themer settings, hide sponsored apps.

    • Marco Agas

As Dana said, you simply have to go into Themer Settings – Manage App Drawer – Hide Sponsored Apps. These apps are simply used to keep Themer free for as long as possible.

      • BobButtons

Awesome, thanks. If more things are introduced, please offer a paid version. I’d be more than willing to pay for it (if not outrageously expensive) to support development and remove sponsored content.

Had Apex, tried Themer until it was unusable after the 4.3 update to my GS4 and went back to Apex. Started using Aviate a few days ago and I love it so far.

  • Android Lover

Soon as I install on the note3, crashes.

  • Damien Luna

I tried it out and i do like the themes and all but as was mentioned it doesnt feel as fluid and im on nova prime and you get the transparent navigation bar you dont get that with themer.

    • Marco Agas

Hi Damien, more performance improvements are on the way, as well as the transparent navigation bar 🙂

      • JD_26

transparent nav bar will help.. thanks .. and even maybe a transparent status/notification bar pls

  • Cesar

I went with Nova Prime, and I haven’t looked back since.

  • kevin

Is this update newer than version 1.27 updated on 1/10/14? That’s the latest one I see in the play store. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

  • Every time I use Themer I like the way things look but not the way they feel. I don’t really know how to explain it.

    • Sirx

Exactly as you did! It’s like…the screen/widgets/notifications/etc. end up looking like they should…I don’t know move, react, do something. It looks like everything SHOULD move, but it’s all static. And it’s kinda off-putting for some reason. Something like that, I guess…

    • Droid Ronin

I use Themer and really enjoy it. I like being able to keep changing the way my desktop looks without having to spend lots of time perfecting it. And with new themes coming out every week, there’s always something to choose from.

    • DKMB

When I used it, there was no visual feedback given when pressin’ on things. Which is disconcerting and bad ‘feeling’. Suspect this is what you’re talking about

      • JD_26

long press on an empty area
        click advanced
click unlock widgets .. then you can edit all widgets.. its still a lil hard though

    • Marco Agas

Hi Blake, the themes that are available can act simply as a guide. In essence Themer is still a launcher, therefore you can edit the widgets, add in your own widgets or pages, change the wallpaper, etc. What I’ll usually do is find a theme that I like, then just add in some music info if there isn’t any, or replace the RSS feed with the Simple Calendar Widget.

  • Adam Truelove

    GEL for life!!

    • Cesar

That’s a strange way to spell “Nova.” 🙂

    • TC Infantino

I sideloaded GEL on my Droid Maxx as soon as it was available, and I agree with you. The GEL is super smooth and easily integrates the voice commands and voice search that I love with the phone. I can’t see me changing anytime soon unless something with a huge WOW factor comes along.

  • Philip J. Fry

I have tried it twice now, but I can’t seem to get away from nova. Speaking of launchers, it seems like apex disappeared, hardly anybody talks about it anymore.

    • Adrynalyne

This is the first time I have tried it. Kinda neat. Not sure I will stick with it though.

    • Marco Agas

Hi Philip, we understand that it’s a big leap from Nova. Themer is still in beta, and many updates are coming in the next few weeks to help improve Themer’s performance, eliminate the bugs, and add in new features. Basically the developers are working overtime to help improve the user’s experience with Themer.

      • michael arazan

I like Themer a lot, even in Beta, keep up the good work. And keep making more themes.

      • NeilGeorge

@marcoagas:disqus I have been user themer since it has been released in Play store. Now all of a sudden getting screen refreshes or redraws each time i go back to the home screen.. Any ideas? Thank you 🙂

  • Still no icon pack support? I wait.

    • Timothy Robinson

Agreed. If i could add Glo or Morean to some of these thems it would be tops.

      • dazz1996

Cant you just Unicon in the playstore to change the icon pack?

    • dazz1996

Cant you just use Unicon to change the icon pack?

    • Marco Agas

Hey kover, icon pack support is on it’s way, our development team is still small though, and right now they’re working on fixing all the bugs and improving the performance.
