T-Mobile 4G LTE Expands to 14 New Markets

Not to be outdone by AT&T, T-Mobile expanded its 4G LTE network into 14 new markets today.

The move is one of many by the carrier in recent months to improve the quality of its 4G network. T-Mobile recently began using spectrum acquired from US Cellular and MetroPCS to improve LTE speeds, and plans to purchase chunks of Verizon’s 700 MHz A-Block for future expansion. The developments are a promising response to T-Mobile’s middling performance in JD Power’s August assessment of US cellular networks.

Here’s a complete list of the newly-covered locations:

  • Ocala, FL
  • Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville, FL
  • Punta Gorda, FL
  • The Villages, FL
  • Valdosta, GA
  • Coeur d’Alene, ID
  • Twin Falls, ID
  • Bay City, MI
  • Holland, MI
  • Saginaw, MI
  • Gulfport-Biloxi, MS
  • Las Cruces, NM
  • Thomasville-Lexington, NC
  • Olympia, WA

So, T-Mobile customers: will the news dissuade you from jumping ship to AT&T? John Legere certainly hopes so.

Wish T-Mobile would just go ahead and buy all of US Cellular so I could switch and still get service at my house. But I am guessing that the cdma bands that my family’s phones use for calls would be useless to them.

Sadly won’t happen, Tmobile is broke and in talks to sell it’s sell to softbank

      • Chris

Broke? lol And I don’t see Deutche Telekom selling anytime soon..

        • master94

Well seeing how their CEO said their only goal was to sell I would say they will.

Just switched from Verizon to GoPhone with my new T-Mobile model Moto X. Things are going fine, there is no need to rush to TMobile. It’s just surprising to see my little town on the list.

    • justinisloco

I’m about to do the same thing. Just ordered my unlocked moto x. How well does it work on gophone?

Sorry, didn’t see your reply until now.I had some initial trouble with LTE reception. If I had been smarter, I’d have checked that when I was at the AT&T store but anyway I finally just turned the Mobile Network Settings on and off a couple of times and that fixed it. It’s been smooth sailing ever since. Download speeds are way better than Verizon, at least in my area. Call quality is crisp and clear. I love this phone and GoPhone totally rocks. Yay!

Olympia, Wa is just up the road, I wonder if the signal could reach down to where I live? If so, it might be serious time to consider ditching Big Red.

  • Nayners

YAY! Olympia! Woot! I’ve got much better signal at my house now.

I was just thinking the same thing, though I’m down south in Centralia. Though before the twin cities got 4G here, I was able to get it from Oly on VZW…
