Just FYI… If you look at any of the screen grabs from the N7, N4 & N10 4.4.2 OTA updates, it clearly states that the update is available via wifi only till December 15th. That has been a clear indication lately (via other OTA’s of when Google will release the full factory image.

when its coming in India for Nexus4

  • markgbe

404 on the 4.4.2 for wifi n7 still. put it up goog!

  • Cory

Bring it on for the Moto X so my exchange/corp email sync will finally work again.

    • julez

You have problems with your Moto X and Exchange? Granted we’re not exactly on the bleeding edge version of Exchange right now but it connects to Exchange 2007 without a problem for me and I’m on 4.4.

      • Cory

Yeah there’s a pretty sizable bug with it. They changed how the sync behavior works a bit and it creates a loop where it will ask for WindowsSize=0 and the exchange server (if setup a certain way) wont respond correctly (with nothing new) so it just keeps asking over and over again. If you are affected and leave it on Push you’ll have about 4 to 6 hours of battery life while it spazzes out constantly.

It was somewhat fixed in 4.4.1 but seems totally corrected now in 4.4.2.

    • sam

they just messed the link up only by 8 digits :)

Got the 4.4.2 system update OTA earlier today and installed this evening on my Nexus 7 2013 without a glitch…52MB download. Details and screenshots for those interested: http://robinmajumdar.com/2013/12/11/got-my-android-4-4-2-update-ota-for-the-nexus-7-fhd-2013/

I noticed this OTA update seems to have been pushed *much* faster than the 4.4 update – perhaps the bug fixes were quite serious for certain users and devices.

  • Jeff Martinez

Rocking 4.4.2 on my Nexus 4, via OTA. No differences so far

  • Felix

My nexus 4 in Vancouver, BC is still waiting for the update..

  • UnixPimp

I was sitting in a meeting today, and I got the system update push for this version of Kit Kat. That was fast. I did not even know about these factory images.

  • robert carlile

anybody know why the link is bad for the Nexus 4?

  • fotis fotis
  • Wayne

For those wondering, they messed up the links.

  • Kiril Vatev

Since the 4.4.2 update last night, my Nexus 7 2012 has had the screen completely washed out (it seems to be glowing white overtop of everything else) and I can barely see anything. Is this happening to anyone else?

    • jimt

did you sideload it or was it from OTA? Maybe there is still some problems with Nexus 7 2012 4.4.+ update.

      • Kiril Vatev

It was the OTA. I can’t say I’ve had any problems until this.

        • jimt

Sounds like there is a 4.4.3 coming soon, I hope, in the future for the Nexus 7 2012

          • Kiril Vatev

I would hope so too. I’d have to back up stuff and flash the factory image, just in case, but that will take a while.

    • jimt

My Nexus 7 2012 looks ok after the update. Maybe it looks a little brighter. I looked a brightness in the settings and it was set to manual brightness at about 1/3 brightness. I set it to auto and now it looks fine.

      • Kiril Vatev

It is definitely not a brightness issue.

It looks like white screen burn (I can see a faint outline of my homescreen over other apps in the “white overlay”). I am starting to think it is a hardware issue. I get the same thing when I reboot overtop of the Google logo screen and boot animation. If I leave the screen on for long enough, it starts to fade (front the center in) and after about 15 minutes of screen on time, it is completely back to normal… until the next time I turn the screen off and on again, that is.

        • jimt

I don’t see anything like that. If I change to a white screen all I see is white no ghosts. Mine is clear and crisp between pages it looks good. I assume you have re-booted to see if that helps. it sounds like your screen may be burnt in from an image that is constantly on it.

          • Kiril Vatev

No, real burn in is different. More like something wrong with the backlight. Also, randomly, it goes away immediately (rather than gradually). This might be something to bring up to Google support… you know, if they actually had such a thing.

    • Adrian

same thing for me on my nexus 5. It seems like they lowered the gamma correction. I wish I could get it back to the way it was

  • jimt

My Nexus 7 2012 is still on 4.4.0 KRT16S I have been waiting for OTA so I can tell a friend when it is being pushed. I’d sideload it but will wait. I wonder why no 4.4.2 love.

    • Jeff Helget

My Nexus 7 2013 was on 4.4 (never got the 4.4.1 OTA) until an hour or two ago when the 4.4.2 OTA update rolled in. It’s coming, just takes time.

      • jimt

I just got the 4.4.2 update for the Nexus 7 2012 OTA, Thanks

  • Chris Ta

I’m a rookie, but can someone tell my what these factory images do? I already side loaded 4.4.2 for my Nexus. Is the Factory image for emergencies if I mess up my software?

    Thanks

    • ITGuy11

Only used to do a complete restore to factory condition.

      • Chris Ta

What about the binaries? What are those for?

        • ITGuy11

Used for building ROM’s if you are a developer.

          • Pedro

Or building a ROM if you are a user who builds his own.

  • Robert Macri

Still not available for my Moto Nexus X…

    • Nayners

      You’ll be waiting a while..

      • guyinmass

What would make you say that? Kit Kat was pushed pretty quickly to the Moto X. Do you have any inside info to share?

        • jimt

This is my opinion only but 4.4.2 would have to go through Verizon, which takes a long time.. The only reason they got 4.4 so fast was that Verizon wanted to stop everyone from leaving Verizon because of no KitKat on any Verizon phones and no Nexus 5.

          • Nayners

This is correct. They are very aware of this..People are leaving VZW in droves.

          • Mitchman

            I love sarcasm!

        • Nayners

No insider info this time..We’re talking about factory images for Nexus devices. You will never (atleast not this gen Moto X) see that from Moto, unfortunately. The pure, original, intent of the Nexus line, more or less, requires said factory images. Regardless of what you might think, the Moto X is not a Nexus. Having said that, clearly the Moto X is as close to a Nexus device (from the factory) as you can get.

    • Nicholas Webster

Just a heads up the Moto X isn’t a Nexus. You could be waiting as long as someone on the S4 to get this update (although I assume they’ll be much faster).

      • guyinmass

Could be – but since the Moto X got Kit Kat pretty quickly the evidence, so far, points to a quicker update. The Moto X could get 4.4.2 before the S4 gets their first 4.4.x update

      • Tim Draper

Definitely not a Nexus but (a) fairly close, and (b) owned by Google. My Verizon Moto X actually received the initial Kit Kat update a day before my Nexus 10 tablet; not sure why since the Nexus update was “in the wild” for around a week +/-.

Meanwhile, I did want to mention that my Nexus 10 with 4.4.2 has reverted back to full-speed graphics. The initial 4.4 upgrade absolutely destroyed graphical performance in a lot of the apps I use. They’re back to normal now.

    • Albert

Lol at the people who don’t get this is a joke. I think we will see it soon. Probably a week or 2. Motorola is on top of their game, and their CEO even says this is a trend that is going to continue. Thats the insider information right there.

      • Nayners

Lol @ ‘a week or 2′. You might want to find a new source of ‘insider’ information.

  • GotSka81

My Nexus 10 with 4.4.2 refuses to sync Google Keep…I’ve reflashed to stock a few times and it never works. Anyone else?

    • James Briano

Working on my Nexus 7 with 4.2.2. It looks like Google is making updates to Sync right now. The desktop version looks pretty (finally), but is running slowly.

  • A.Miller

I still haven’t had 4.4.1 pushed to my Nexus 5 on ATT GoPhone…. What can I do to get this short of just downloading the factory image?

    • Greg Morgan

      Sideload the update.zip through ADB

    • T S

yea i didn’t get my 4.4.1 pushed either on TMobile. .so i just finally sideloaded until i got to 4.4.2

    • jimt

I had 4.4.2 OTA pushed to my nexus 5 from T-Mobile but I had sideloaded 4.4.1 the day before.

    • S2556

I never received 4.4.1 went from 4.4 straight to 4.4.2 OTA

  • ITGuy11

    Uploads not complete yet?

    404. That’s an error.

    That’s all we know.

    • Alvin Brinson

      Yeah, nothin’ but 404… :( :(

Someone’s punching random buttons at Google lately.

  • Maxim∑

    My Nexus 7 2013 just got 4.4 today……
