Cyber Monday Deal: LG G2 in White Now Available From Verizon, It’s Also FREE on Contract

lg g2 white verizon

The LG G2 in white has finally landed on Verizon’s virtual online store shelves. The device is also here at an introductory/Cyber Monday price of FREE on new 2-year contract. We were expecting this variant of LG’s new flagship to arrive much sooner, but Big Red has gone with a white theme for this mega-holiday shopping weekend, and a white G2 certainly fits right in.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out our LG G2 review. It’s one of those devices that has few faults, yet still doesn’t seem to get the amount of love that it deserves. It’s screen is one of the best in the industry, the multi-point autofocus camera is top tier, battery life is class-leading, and the phone overall is unbelievably fast, like, faster than any other phone I can think of at the moment. The only real negatives we could find had to do with LG’s Android UI and the fingerprint magnet glossy coating on the back. The good news is that the UI can be masked for the most part with a third party launcher and the fingerprint issue shouldn’t be as bad on a white phone.

We should point out that Verizon is activating phones for free through December 2, saving you $35. If you wanted the phone off contract, unfortunately, you are still looking at $499.

If you aren’t going Moto X in a few hours, this should be on your short list.

On the phone with vzw for two hours to get an early upgrade. In that time, it went out of stock. Pretty upset but what do ya do? Gotta wait for the next deal :-(

  • blackqq

it just went out of stock

  • jorge

I have a black LG G2. Love it. Got the wifey the white one today. $0.00
Called vzw rep… got refunded the $30 upgrade fee.
Apparently free activation is for new lines only.

  • Milan Parekh

WHEN IS BESTBUY GETTING IT IN WHITE. THIS WEEK??. its out of stock now

  • Chippah

In for 1 for RETAIL @ 399 – (19% Corp discount/added 2 months to already extended dumb phone line.)

then I wanted 1 for the wife, she was fine with 6gb Max plan from Unlimited.

Verizon would not budge on upping her upgrade 60 days from the gnex.

FAWK VERIZON! – I opened a new line to get one for the wife and will pay the ETF.

I even bent to them taking the hit and 6gb data plan too.

2 White LG G2s incoming both still unlimited data suckas!

  • ThEoRy

I’m getting mixed responses from verizon csr so Can I do the following to retain unlimited data?::

I have 4 phones on my family plan, one of them is a dumb phone without an upgrade. Two of my other 3 phones have upgrades. Can I transfer the upgrade to the dumb phone, upgrade it to the G2, activate it, then de activate it and revert the line back to the dumbphone and simply swap the simcard out of the smartphone line I want to actually use G2 on into the G2? I don’t care if this extends a contract from the originating line but I don’t want to lose unlimited.

    • Aj Scarpella

Yes. I just did this a few weeks ago. Transfer upgrade. Activate phone in that dumb phone line. Call and put the dumb phone back on the line. Swap the sim from your unlimited phone and you keep unlimited.

      • Comk4ver

Can’t you just do all these moves via the website?

        • ThEoRy

That’s exactly what I was looking to do. I pulled the trigger now I just have to wait for the phone and jump through the hoops.

          • Comk4ver

me three! Finally leaving my Nexus… even though I’ve got kit kat on it…

  • B!

Tempting, but I can’t see me using an LG phone as my main phone, even if it is to hold me over until I get my Maxx outright.

  • UnlimitedLimbo

None of this works if you have the unlimited plan. If you try to add the G2 to your existing account ( Add a new line) then at checkout you are forced to change your plan. I havent been able to create a new account as inputing the same information (as a current account holder) seems to yield a processing error..

    • andrew brunelle

You have to change your original plan if you want to add a line? I fully expect the new line to be a share everything plan.

    • brand

      Use the iconic portal.https://preorder.verizonwireless.com/iconic/

Worked for me no plan change, kept unlimited.

  • Aj Scarpella

If you are eligible for an upgrade on your unlimited line, and have a dumb phone on that line, you can transfer your upgrade to the dumb phone, then switch them around. I did this a few weeks back with this phone, and it kept my data. Doing it again with my wife’s phone now.

    • Comk4ver

      +1

  • Fitim

If I where to upgrade a basic phone that is currently on my family plan, would that phone be deactivated right away? Also will the Sim from the Galaxy Nexus fit in the LG G2

    • RepsolRider

Your Galaxy Nexus sim will fit the G2. As to your upgrade, I believe that your old phone would stay active until you activate the sim in your new phone.

      • Fitim

        OK cool.

  • gooner13

Picked one up for the wife. She’s thrilled it came out in white, and it just so happens her upgrade date on Verizon was today. If the Moto X site doesn’t come back up soon, I’m cashing in on the G2 deal as well.

  • Rodeojones000

Hey, if you’re planning to get this and renew your contract, be sure to call Verizon (maybe wait until after you have the phone and have activated it, thus kicking in your new tiered data plan) and ask them about the promo where they’re giving former unlimited data customers 6 GB of data for the 2 GB price. I did it for my wife and me in early November and I know someone on the DL message boards had success after my recommendation just 2 weeks ago. Not certain it’s still getting offered, but can’t hurt to ask. And this deal is per phone – not shared. My wife and I now have 6 GB of data each for the $30 per phone price.

    • chris125

that is the “EDGE” program. Some were being let use that and not actually use the edge program, others not so much.

      • Rodeojones000

I was told it was called Verizon Max and was for customers not jumping on the EDGE plans. Either way, can’t hurt to call. I’m not on an EDGE plan. In fact, I’m still on my old Alltel plan from years and years ago. It’s about 25% cheaper than if I were to be on an actual Verizon plan.

        • DJ

I just did this yesterday and can verify that it is the Maxx program. I upgraded at best buy and they said they did not have such a program in their system so after upgrading I immediately called Verizon and they switched me to the 6 gig for $30 right away.

          • Rodeojones000

I feel like this isn’t getting the attention it deserves. I emailed DL telling them to update this post with the info to get more people this deal but still no mention of it.

      • NoTaDoUcHeButYoUrDuMb

That isnt the edge program you clown. That is just a deal for people losing unlimited data. The edge program is where you pay the phone off over 24 months. you cant keep unlimited data with this, the best way to keep unlimited data is to do alternate upgrades. IF your phone with unlimited has a upgrade use it for a dferent phone on the account.

        • Tim242

The 6 GB plan was being offered to unlimited users wanting to do EDGE. Do your research before name calling.

      • TubbyMofo

I just finished chatting with a Verizon rep and the way it works is, if you have unlimited, you upgrade and automatically get switched to 2 GB/$30. Then after you get the phone, you have to call Customer Care and they will switch you to the Maxx plan, which is 6 GB/$30. No Edge required. I emailed a copy of the chat transcript to myself and will raise hell if I have any difficulties!

  • Rodeojones000

“The only real negatives we could find had to do with LG’s Android UI and the fingerprint magnet glossy coating on the back.”

LG’s UI really isn’t that bad. Most of the ugliness of mine has since been covered up with some mods (specifically G2 Xposed). You need to be rooted to do it, but getting there and installing TWRP was simple. Took me less than 10 minutes. The LG software is actually quite useful. The fingerprint magnet back (absolutely true) is fixed a simple TPU case.

Seriously, though, I don’t understand why this phone doesn’t get more love. It is absolutely amazing. And the development scene is surpassed only by Nexus devices.

    • http://www.nosmellnotell.com/ Oak_Aged

Any case you recommend? I’m loving my G2 but the back really does look pretty bad pretty quickly. Looking for the thinnest matte case that offers at least a little protection.

      • Rodeojones000

Look up Diztronic TPU cases on Amazon. Great quality, very light and slim and costs less than $10. Just be aware when searching for any case to make sure the description says it fits the Verizon version. The others are designed differently so the cases aren’t interchangeable.

        • http://www.nosmellnotell.com/ Oak_Aged

          Thanks everyone

      • Bald_Sasquach

Search “Poetic Palette” on amazon. It’s extremely thin and the matte texture is awesome. I can stick the phone vertically to my fake suede couch.

      • Aj Scarpella

I have the Incipio Dual Pro case and like it.

        • RepsolRider

Agreed. I put the Dual Pro case on my wife’s G2 and she loves it. Only $17.99 + free shipping today direct from Incipio

          • bd1212

How’d you get it for $17.99 + free shipping?

          • RepsolRider

            Cyber Monday deal

      • TubbyMofo

You can also buy two Cruzerlite cases and get one free over at Amazon.

      • Comk4ver

i really like TPU cases: see here on ebay

        $6.95 with taxes in California…

  • gpaine

Picking it up in store this afternoon!

    • jorge

Supposed to be online only i believe. Howd it go?

      • gpaine

I set the phone for in-store pickup. I showed up. They had everything there and ready to go, but the rep couldn’t get my credit card to charge. I called the bank, and it wasn’t on their end; the bank didn’t even see the charge attempted. Long story short, I had to give up, go home, and re-do the upgrade on a different line to get the deal. I set that phone to be shipped to me. The first one (in-store pickup) will time out in a few days and go away forever according to Verizon’s customer support. It was a nightmare – and no phone yet :’(

  • VINCYPOWA VINCYPOWA

How do I open a new contract using the same info on my current account?

  • WCM3

Guys, are there any current coupon codes for verizon?

  • Roger K.

Moto X or G2? Guide me Kellex, guide me!!

    • Rodeojones000

      G2!

      • Roger K.

G2 inbound. Looking back on the Moto X for $399 (not including sales tax), I can’t be unhappy with a G2 at this price. Here’s to hoping the developer community is active. Thanks RJ.

    • dragonflyr

G2. sorry, not kellex. but, let me tell you that the battery life will blow you away. plus, throw any game at this phone and it handles it with ease. the phone is a beast.

    • chris125

g2. The G2 is better in every way except for updates. (screen, battery, camera, processor)

  • Manbearpig

Jesus Christ monkey balls! This has made my day!

  • joejoe5709

Sweet Jesus my wife will be so happy!!

  • andrew brunelle

If it is free on contract at Verizon, just start a new contract then cancel and pay the ETF and and switch it over to your account, then your new LG g2 is only $350

    • WCM3

      Would this work?

      • andrew brunelle

I’ve called Verizon customer service and asked the question directly, their answer was yes it will work. I’ve yet to actually do it yet so I can’t say with 100% certainty. I’ve been waiting for the right phone to be free on contract… this might be a good chance to try.

        • WCM3

          Well, here goes nothing..

          • andrew brunelle

            Update with results =)

          • WCM3

They actually called me and asked if I was setting up a new account. I said yes and they said an existing customer can’t have two accounts. What they can do is make it a sub-level account on my existing plan. For instance, if I had a son and we were getting a contract under him. I’m still wondering if I can cancel that plan once it’s started.

          • andrew brunelle

So did you end up adding a line to your existing account? I will double check you can cancel an added line but I don’t think it would be any different than canceling a new account.

          • WCM3

I didn’t. They said it needed to be cancelled and all done from my existing account. She said she could send me to a CS agent, but I said I would just do it online. Now I’m trying to find if I can cancel an added line or not.

          • Arnoldo Lazaro Rivera

so its not working if you have a primary account and open another account for yourself …. right?

          • andrew brunelle

My interpretation of what he said was you cannot open two serperate accounts but you can add a line to an account you already have.

          • WCM3

this. You can’t have two accounts. You need to just add a line on your current account.

I tried to just “add a line” online, then “add a plan”, and it said “you will lose unlimited data.” I signed-out pronto..

          • brand

I did it. Added a line and kept my unlimited.

          • bd1212

I’ve done this before without any problems, so I don’t know why he’s having any issues. You can actually do all of this online (except the canceling the line/paying the ETF part, that’s over the phone I guess). Just login to your MyVerizon thing, add a new line, add a phone, buy the phone, call Verizon, cancel the line. Quick and easy.

Edit: This DOESN’T work if you have unlimited data. You must already be on a share everything plan.

    • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

Plus partial payment for a month of service, all the paperwork, etc.

      • andrew brunelle

They said I can cancel the minute after I buy it. No charge other than the ETF. Whether it is worth the hassle or not for $150 in savings is up to you.

        • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

Hmmm, can you do this all online? Are you able to have two separate contracts using the same information? I only have a single line unlimited plan, so I’m not sure if I can simply add a line to it.

          • andrew brunelle

I would imagine so. I think adding a new line to your existing account would work but I did not specifically ask that scenario.

          • j

You absolutely can have multiple contracts using the same information. Do you think all these 8 year old kids with smartphones have the contract in their name? :)

        • DJ SPY

I tried this right now and it tries to muscle me into a share everything plan. I’m afraid to compromise my unlimited data.

          • andrew brunelle

I said open a new account, you will technically have 2 accounts for a few minutes.

    • acashe42

Don’t do this! You have 6 months to return the phone after paying the ETF.

      • andrew brunelle

Says nothing about returning the device within 6 months in the customer agreement. Verizon said nothing about returning the device. It is yours.http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/support/return-policy

      • j

        Wrong.

See below. You can terminate service and return the device within 14 days and avoid ETF (you only pay for activation, service fees, etc). You can pay the ETF and keep the device. If you cancel after 14 days, you pay the ETF regardless, and you keep the device. If you return the device after 14 days, you pay the ETF and keep NOTHING.

        —————
You may terminate service for any reason within 14 days of activation. If you purchased a wireless device at a promotionalprice at the time of activation, you must return it within the device return period to avoid being assessed an Early Termination Fee of $175, or $350 if you purchased an Advanced Device. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within three days of activation. You will also be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges that accrued to your account through the termination date.

If you cancel your service after the 14–day period, but prior to the expiration of your minimum term, you will be responsible for all of the above–mentioned charges, including an Early Termination Fee.

If you return your merchandise, even by mistake, after the return period, you will not receive a refund and the merchandise you returned will not be returned to you.

        ————–

        • WCM3

Guys, does the new line need to stay active for 24 hours or anything? Just ordered the LG G2 on a new line. Do i need to at least set the phone up when I get it, or can i just call Verizon (pay the etf), then cancel the plan? Then put my current micro sim into the LG G2..

          • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

The rep I talked to online said you have to wait 14 days, otherwise you have to return the device if you cancel within those 14 days. The service would be pro-rated, so the cheapest plan I could find was the $80 share everything plan. So $350 + ~$40 of pro-rated service

          • j

That is wrong. You do not have to return the device, that’s the whole point of the ETF.. To cover their asses when people get full price phones then cancel.

It’s in black and white above:

” If you purchased a wireless device at a promotional price at the time of activation, you must return it within the device return period to avoid being assessed an Early Termination Fee of $175, or $350 if you purchased an Advanced Device.”

You must return it to AVOID THE ETF. If you do not return it, you get charged the ETF.

          • http://twitter.com/geoff5093 Geoff Johnson

Great! I wasn’t sure how it would work if you cancel within 14 days. I assume I could just call up and cancel the next day, and not return the phone?

          • j

Yea I’d assume so. I’d probably wait until the device ships, then cancel :D

          • bd1212

Nope, don’t even have to set it up. Simply call them and ask to pay the ETF on that new line. By not activating it at all you are saving yourself from being prorated any charges for the month (usually $40 since that’s how much each smartphone line costs on a Share Everything plan). I confirmed this with two Verizon reps last night and they said it should go through without any problems.

        • Peter Blanco

While this is an absolutely in genius tactic, I do believe it can effect your credit can’t it?

          • BathSaltZ0mbie .

            You are a moron….

          • Peter Blanco

Oh yeah cause that’s totally necessary? Let’s disregard the fact that I asked am honest question about something that involves running your credit right? Sheesh ass hole.

          • BathSaltZ0mbie .

You won’t be around long enough to even try this. Natural selection will weed you out.

      • chris125

False. Once you pay the ETF it is yours to keep. Quit spreading FUD

        • acashe42

This is what I was told by a store rep when discussing how the loopholes when trying to keep unlimited data and pay discount price, not my words.

          • j

Because VZW doesn’t want you cancelling :) Also, some VZW are franchise stores, which have been known to attempt to pull BS. corporate stores are much better.

          • chris125

This isn’t really a loophole though.

          • acashe42

No it isn’t, i’m referring to the options we have of keeping unlimited data and not having to pay full retail. Theres only one or two loopholes that work to this date.

          • chris125

so if it isn’t a loop hole (which you are agreeing with me) how does it have anything to do with your comment you said about loop holes?

          • acashe42

Was simply saying I was at the store to discuss the UD topic specifically, and the rep brought up an option to add a 2nd line. He proceeded to tell me that canceling that line, i’d have to pay the etf and return the phone within 6 months…personally I was hoping for a cheaper option.

          • chris125

Ebay, craigslist, etc is usually the best option for cheaper full price options.

          • andrew brunelle

I spoke with Verizon corporate in person, they told me it is possible to do this.

    • feztheforeigner

It’s a great idea but I will never relinquish my unlimited data

      • andrew brunelle

The whole point of this exercise is to KEEP unlimited data.

  • Milind Shah

why are there no black friday and cyber monday deals in other countries? i crie everytiem :’( xD

  • ryan

And bought. Wife wanted this in white.

  • bd1212

Was hoping the off-contract price would be brought down to $450 again, or maybe even $399. I’ll just keep on dreaming…

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

LG G2 in white for $399? That would be an instant buy for sure.

      • andrew brunelle

Start new line, cancel new line. Pay $350 etf. Switch phone to your account. New phone for $350. No activation fee

        • Rodeojones000

Seriously, why aren’t more doing this (assuming you’ve got $350 to spend on a phone right now).

          • brand

Rather than canceling the line and paying the $350 fee you can downgrade the line to a feature phone line and pay $10/mth for the life of the two year contract. Then the new G2 only costs $240. Pretty sweet.

          • jameson

Is this possible with a smartphone line? Not sure if VZW would allow it.

          • WhyWhyY

None of this works if you have the unlimited plan. If you try to add the G2 to your existing account ( Add a new line) then at checkout you are forced to change your plan. I havent been able to create a new account as inputing the same information (as a current account holder) seems to yield a processing error.

          • andrew brunelle

You don’t have to change your original plan if you add a line. The new line will be a share everything plan, but it is getting canceled anyways.

          • brand

Folks having trouble keeping unlimited when adding a new line use the iconic portal. I did it this morning and had no trouble keeping unlimited.

            https://preorder.verizonwireless.com/iconic/

          • laheelahee

but you still have to pay taxes on that line every month. depending where you are, it’s not worth it.

          • br_hermon

How are you doing that? Opening a new line of service with Share Everything? Adding a line on an old unlimited plan? How are you getting it down to $10 a month?

          • laheelahee

no, add a line with the old plan for $10 per additional line + $30 / 2gb (not share everything) and then after you switch the phones around, “downgrade” it to a dumbphone and only pay $10 a month.. but now you’ll be on a family plan

          • afafa

I just tried it and it’d only let me add the Share Everything Plan plan. And yes I have the legacy unlimited data plan. Were you able to do this?

          • laheelahee

im on a family plan so it just lets me add a line with 2GB… not sure about individual plans

          • brand

Yep I have unlimited and did it. Kept my unlimited and made the add a line a 2gb. Use the iconic portal:

Dang, I no longer have an old, unlimited plan :(

          • laheelahee

did you at least get the 6GB promotion?

          • br_hermon

No, I pulled the plug on my Unlimited about a year ago.

          • Tim242

With tax, it”s $15 per month. So, that will actually cost you $360.

          • andrew brunelle

            People ARE doing it

        • bd1212

Did this with no problems. Phone should be here tomorrow or Thursday and then I’m just going to call and cancel the line. Brand new G2 for the price of a Nexus 5. Yay loopholes.
