Download: Android 4.4 (KRT16O) Official Update for Nexus 10

Nexus 10

Don’t worry, Nexus 10 owners – we haven’t forgotten you. The OTA zip file for Android 4.4 (KRT16O) has been made available, so if you don’t feel like waiting for Google to roll it out to your device, hit up the download link and work some adb magic.

Download Link

In order to flash, you can use the “adb sideload” command through adb and the Android SDK (instructions). If you are stock with root and recovery, flashing the .zip file through recovery often times works.

Cheers everyone who sent this in!

  • Brian Kircher

I have yet to get the ota for my N10. Freaking sucks.

  • Tyler

My recovery is showing “No command” anyone know how to fix?

  • sukhyung

not gonna get it yet, i need my hbo go and sunday ticket apps to keep working.

  • Chippah

What a disappointment so glad I picked up a Galaxy note 10.1 2014 and dumped the N10. it performed terribly, piss poor battery life and it heat throttled.

  • What a disappointing update. Looks like it’ll be custom ROMS for me. :-/

  • n11

Still waiting on the 4.4 update on my 2013 N7, was supposed to be last night, what gives?

  • Pat Leck

OMG so much new technology it’s really hard to pick http://68e1509c.theseforums.com

I discovered a bug when you move your device to landscape mode then back to portrait mode, the background wallpaper image stays landscape mode. This is on my nexus 7 2013, I was messing with the new wallpaper preview option so I ended changing from what I had before. wonder if it is on nexus 10 too?

  • Maxim∑

I WANT IT ON MY NEXUS 4 NAW! Just to see if N5 is a worthy update from N4

    • AbbyZFresh

Because Android is too customized and complex to function the same way on all devices that have different components. There has to be adjustments made.

      • PhoenixPath

        …or not.

That about the most BS excuse I’ve heard in ages. We’ll see GEL in the play store (they just updated Google Search which fixed the keyboard pop issue on the n10 with GEL). The transparency will be added by devs and will work *just fine*.

Google lost focus after losing Rubin and JBQ. I really hope they get it together quick.

What exactly does this new version of Kit Kat for the Nexus 7 & 10 bring if all the core features have been stripped and are only exclusive to the Nexus 5 ? No Experience Launcher ? No “Ok Google” Screen? No touch-less Google Now commands ? No Transparency ? I starting to feel like there is fragmentation on the Nexus level with android features now!

    • Maxim∑

Yeah you would think google would at least bring this to the whole Nexus line, but NO lets make it exclusive to one phone… really helping fragmentation

      • droidrazredge

What’s funny is that I don’t even think the “always listening” Google Now search bar in GEL does not require
optimizations found in the Nexus 5′s Snapdragon 800 CPU because Kellex took the Nexus 5 rom that was given by AOSP and flashed it on his Nexus 4 and it had ALL the features working except Tap to Pay.

I know what you mean as I saw them reserve features to the phone my mentality went from being excited about the update, to hoping it wouldn’t break any apps.

  • 213ninja

so is this even worth the update if you are running say CM 10.2 (4.3)?

    • Maxim∑

I would just wait for CM11 which is coming soon

  • Db

So….what parts of Kit Kat are still left for the Nexus 10 after no transparency, no new launcher, and no GEL?

Google, where is my Nexus 10 2013?

  • ArrTooDeeToo

No transparency, no ART, the settings menu is de-tablified (it’s the phone version where you have one pane) and they still haven’t given the option to move the Nav buttons to the left for people who actually hold a tablet like a tablet.

Is it me, or does this update feel rushed for this device?

    • droidrazredge

like I was saying in the above post. What was the point of the releasing this version and calling it Kit Kat if we don’t get any “Kit Kat Features” ? If this was the case why not release it when the Nexus 5 came out instead of making us wait two weeks ? does it take two weeks to take all those features out of the AOSP version they sent out ?

  • Cary Zuber

Anyone know where to enable transparency on the nexus 10?

  • poeddroiduser

And the Nexus 10 Gen 2 will be out WHEN???? I am waiting… SIGH

  • Tyler

Can’t wait to try this out later tonight.

  • Goblueboy

I just get an error while trying to install.

  • EC8CH

Kit Kat Rain… Nexus Upgrade and other feel the pain.

  • duke69111

Any word on a new nexus 10?

    • Jérôme Besnard

Same question here. Leaving on Thanksgiving day and I’d like to buy the new one for my mom but is it going to be released on time for me?

  • possomcrast1

I’d quite like to see what Kit Kat does to a Motorola Xoom considering google said it will breathe new life into old hardware. The Motorola Xoom is a perfect example of outdated, slow hardware.

    • akazerotime

realjumy & bigrushdog have already figured out a way to expanding the file partition to 1GB for wingray (and are currently hammering out stingray) allowing to create a port for 4.3/4.4. Awesome work they are doing over there and maybe worth a story by droid-life
Check it out and any Devs that think they can help, please give some time to them.

  • Khaf

I dot have the Nexus 10 yet. Anyone play with this for a while? How does it run?

    • Cary Zuber

I am downloading this now, I’ll let you know.

      • Cary Zuber

It seems like such a minor upgrade since the new launcher and transparent nav bar are not included in this build. Tablet UI in the settings menu has changed to an oversized phone UI. Overall, visually this seems like KitKat was designed a little more for phones that tablets. I am disappointed.

        • Ryuuie

Transparency is disabled for the Nexus 10 but it works on the Nexus 4 and both Nexus 7s.

          • simon

Nexus 10 without ART – really a shame!
