Google Glass Receives Monthly Update, Includes Calendar Search and Additional Navigation Commands

google glass new

Google pushed one of its monthly Google Glass updates to Explorers this morning, which brings a few new features and more bug fixes. The big additions in the XE11 update are new voice commands for when wanting to navigate yourself home or work from wherever you are, as well as a new calendar search feature.

When it comes to navigating to home or work, users can simply say “Ok Glass, get directions to home/work” and then you are on your way. This is Google’s attempt at integrating personal search right into the system. Google also baked in a new calendar search feature, which can be started by saying, “Ok glass, google what am I doing next week?” From here, your itinerary will be displayed on the screen and you can see what’s on your plate for the days ahead.

There are a few more little things, but that’s it when it comes to new features. For the full release details, check out the via links down below.

P.S. Did anyone catch Kellen rocking Glass on yesterday’s early DL Show? What did you think? Tell him he looks good, because he is sort of self conscience about it so far.

Interesting that the “navigate home” functionality is only just rolling into the glass system now. I use google now/voice search for this a lot – probably my number one use of voice search on android. It’s been a feature there for quite some time.

Unless the update gives it x-Ray vision I’m still not interested.

Kellen still needs to do a walk around town for a week to see how/if he will utilize the functions. Then give a report back.

We want videos of usage. Please show us how you drive with it, or shop with it, just basically everything with it and upload it to your YouTube page please, If you don’t have lenses for it, where it with a ballcap

I don’t have a laptop, could I sit on you lap and use yours?

        • Frank Tricker

I keep wanting to be excited about Glass but I can’t get past the aesthetics.

There is a reason I don’t wear a bluetooth headset 24/7, and that same reason is going to make the design of Glass a non-starter for me.

I am actually becoming more interested in the “Smart Watch” because it is something that would bring this same type of information to you in a format that is significantly less obvious.

  • I still say this is one of the biggest douchebag accessories of this decade thus far.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

I would rather see someone testing a product that drives innovation than another D-bag with white and silver Oakleys.

      • umbrellacorp

        White Oakleys are the best.
