Nexus 5 white:  16GB | 32GB

Nexus 5 black:  16GB | 32GB

  • 16gb white out of stock now too

  • Jim

No carrier compatibility is mentioned this time around. Interesting.

Honestly, Droid-Life was the first site I saw this break on. Congrats to you guys! Keep up the good work! 🙂

    32gb panda ordered!

    • Blue Sun

      Agreed! Great job Droid-Life team!

  • T S

i accidentally bought 2 white 32 GB in my purchasing frenzy from my Droid MAXX. see ya Verizon.

  • Michael D

Could someone help me understand how I could sell my grandfathered unlimited data plan from Verizon? I really want to get away from Big Red and instead go to the $30 prepaid plan at T-Mobile (I bought the sim kit for a dollar the other day).

My situation is this. I’m on a family plan with my mother (who does not have a smartphone), and she is currently on a month-to-month basis. I, unfortunately, am on contract until July of 2014 (with the grandfathered data). I would not be opposed to selling my grandfathered contract, but I don’t really understand how it works.

If I could somehow sell my account, give my mother my current S3, buy the Nexus 5, and get both of us on T-Mobile’s prepaid plan (I use about 50 minutes per month, my mother only 100), it would be a miracle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Reginald Jefferson

Not sure why people are surprised about it not being on Verizon. You’d think all of the leaked documentation and FCC filings would have given that way by now.

  • Pedro

Aaaaand, 16GB Black Out Of Stock.

  • RGiskard

The developer page says that KitKat has support for IR Blasters, but the N5 doesn’t seem to have one. Too bad! That would have been an nice feature…

  • Kevin Gallagher

Kept changing my mind and ordering different colors and storage sizes, now I have three ordered and want to cancel two but already left the confirmation page. Cant cancel them from google wallet because they are listed as pending lol. $1200+ all tied up now.

    • T.C.

In Google Play, when shopping for devices, click the Gear Icon, choose My Orders, click Info under the status (leaving Warehouse by November 5th), Underneath the total ($440.35) it gives me the option to cancel my order.

  • dazz1996

on the google play site it reads
    2G/3G/4G LTE

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10

    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19

    LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

    Carriers: T-Mobile, Sprint

I dont know the bands on verizon but would like this phone now, I added to my cart but need conformation that verizon bands are not listed thanks for anyones help..

    • avinyc

Verizon’s LTE band is 13 and the new AWS band is 4. The frequency for CDMA is 850 and 1900 mHz, but not sure what band class that corresponds to.

      • dazz1996

        Thanks for the reply

  • Iyvin Benjamin

32GB white and black are still available

  • venk

    16gb black out of inventory

  • bassmaster118

    Black 16GB out of stock.

  • BMan

    Black 16GB sold out…

  • JohanV

someone snatched the phone i had reserved from my cart lol.

  • “We are out of inventory, please check back soon.”

    • Iyvin Benjamin

      The 32GB black is available

  • PuttsMoBilesiCit

Ordered and ditching my MAXX. Goodbye Verizon.

  • Guy Meatdrapes

The Nexus 5 is available today at the Google Play store. It’s a fully unlocked device, priced at $349 with no contract for the base 16GB model. The 32GB version prices in at $399, and both are available in white and black. It will work across a wide array of carriers — in the US, it will work on EVERYTHING EXCEPT VERIZON….

that was taken from the verge

  • Scott Tilney

I don’t see anywhere, where it says which networks it runs on. Are you sure it won’t work on Verizon?

    • TheDrizzle

Verizon will be sure it doesn’t no matter what.

  • cvgordo

this is almost game breaking..almost doesn’t make sense why any android user would want anything else besides maybe the note 3.

    • Rodeojones000

      Note 3? Really?

      • cvgordo

what do the competitors have that set it apart from the nexus 5? g2 has buttons on the back, s4 has micro sd and removable battery. i think both are at least 100 bucks more than the n5 off contract right?
i mean if you’re in the market for a high end android phone then i think most people would give up a micro sd slot and removable battery for the low low price of $349+. with vanilla android and promises of timely updates it’s more than a compelling device.
the only reason why i mentioned the note 3 is because of the larger screen and s-pen functions..at least those are significant differences that someone could seriously consider in making a choice. hell i have a note 3 which i love but right now i’d be lying if i said i love it twice as much as a $350 nexus (it cost twice as much).
what else is there right now that can compete with the n5 in terms of specs, function, and PRICE????????

        • hkklife

G2 is $550 off-contract. A 32GB Galaxy S4 is $650 off-contract. These are Verizon’s own full retail prices, not sure what the going rate is for GSM/unlocked variants.

    • SplashMTN

From what I’ve heard about it, the G2 is also a solid contender.

  • redbar0n11

Can someone explain why this wont work on Verizon? Other than the inability to activate it in their system if that model isnt loaded…

    Nexus 5:
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10 — LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

    VZW Bands (via Wikipedia):
    850 MHz Cellular, Band 0, 1xRTT/EV-DO/eHRPD, 3G CDMA
1700/2100 MHz AWS, Band 4, LTE, 4G LTE

Right there I see Band 0 CDMA and Band 4 LTE – both are supported by Nexus 5!
(I know band 4 isn’t everywhere yet, but why the hell cant Band 0 be used???)

    So, what gives!?!?

    • hackthis02

I was just about to ask this.

    • DanSan

the problem was in the first 2 sentences of your question.

    • SplashMTN

It may work on Verizon, but even if it did they will never allow it on their network.

      • Jkdem85

what if you slip an existing sim card in?

        • SplashMTN

I’d be interested to see. I imagine you may be able to access their LTE service in limited areas, but I don’t believe you would be able to make calls/send texts since the Nexus 5 lacks the proper bands.

The reason this works with Nexus 7 is because support for Verizon’s LTE was built in. Google didn’t do that with the Nexus 5.

  • OneForTheGoodDays

I sorta kinda hope that LG, the architects behind the N5, have been sitting on 4.4 for the LG G2 all this time……….. *fingers crossed*

  • BMan

What is this $30 T-Mobile plan that everyone is planning on switching to? The only one that I can find on their site is for data only. I want to get my ducks in a row before my N5 arrives.

  • SplashMTN

I wish I could have picked this up today, unfortunately I have to wait another 2 weeks. I’m stuck with Verizon until the 25th anyway, but I really need a new toy now.

  • MichaelFranz

As excited as I am, even though i am not buying one yet….disappointed with no big annoucement or some kind of googly thing

  • 16reasonswhy

Just cancelled my black 32Gb which was the only option at the time and got the white! Oh yeah!

  • DanSan

we need a system dump of this thing ASAP!!! i want that camera to load on my GS4 running CM

  • n11

Purchased. I selected 32GB and was looking back and forth between black and white color, then noticed “out of inventory for black”, so I jumped on the white right away lol.

    • n11

And just like that after I made my post, went to check on status, and everything is “out of inventory” A minute later and I wouldn’t have had that phone!

      • NeedName

only see out of inventory for 16gb black.

  • Ej McCarty

I just impulse bought this and I just got the note 3… idk what got into me. haha. my gf is gonna be so pissed, but maybe I just won’t tell her. I just can’t think straight right now. It looked so nice. Ill just sell my note 3 and get aio. Yeah, that justifies my logic…

  • Rodeojones000

Congrats to all getting this. I remember the excitement of December 14th, 2011 when it was announced that the GNex was being released the next day. Sadly, I’ve decided to stick with Verizon because of their coverage where I live and I’ve moved onto the G2.

    • blaaah!

      Same here man… i’ve had the G2 for 5 days… liking it.
      Oh well.

      • Rodeojones000

Yeah, it’s a great phone. Got mine this past Sunday. But I love the Nexus line and can’t help but think how this LG isn’t a Nexus.

  • KidFlash1904

Made it 🙂 I was worried when it said it was taking longer than usual to process my order. But I just got the email with the Google play order receipt 😀 goodbye verizon! Hello T-Mobile! Hello Nexus crowd I’m finally getting one!

    • jbdan

      Welcome welcome welcome! To both!

  • omar
    • Rodeojones000

Damn. Had you asked this 4 days ago I’d had have given you mine for free. But i decided to upgrade my line.

      • omar

        haaaaaaaaaaa. thanks though 🙂

  • Adam Johnston

Ordered! Finally I can get some work done now….

  • Guest
  • Bill

No AT&T?!? Sorry can’t leave VZW for TMO or Sprint….as painful as that is to type.

    • Adam Johnston

There is AT&T. At least according to Engadget.

    • Eddie R

yeah, i was really surprised to see no AT&T… i was hoping to jump to Aio. Tmo is fine here tho.

  • David Goodfriend

See now this doesn’t make any sense. Public record states that there is no android 4.4. Its a fake!

  • Kofi Williams

To return to immersive mode, users can touch the screen outside of the bar bounds or wait for a short period for the bars to auto-hide. For a consistent user experience, the new gesture also works with previous methods of hiding the status bar.

OMG are you guys seeing these KitKat changes?

  • Jeremy Gross

and its not on verizon………blow up in 3,2,1

  • Paul

    Hey verizon. Blow me!

  • Respen

  • J Dub

Black 16GB is out of stock ish. Now not leaving the warehouse till Nov. 8th.

  • kfath1978

tmobile will be stocking it no date as of yet per tmobile phone rep i am on the phone w/ now…date TBD.

  • PowersUSA

When I was considering the Moto X I wanted the white back with black front (just like the developer addition). So going with the white Nexus 5 32GB.

  • OG Droid
  • Marco

    How about that Nexus 6?

    • Ej McCarty

leave. now. let us enjoy this moment.

  • Guy Meatdrapes

    ectoplasm….. ectoplasm everywhere

  • Joe Mihalich

I’m in, 32GB Black. The beginning of the end for my 13 year verizon run.

  • Blue Sun

Looks like only the black 16Gb version is available now? I’m glad I pounced on the black 32GB version. Warehouse ship date is now pushed to November 8th too.

    • Hmm, nothing has changed for me, I still see them all available, and shipping in 1-2 days?

      • Blue Sun

Now both the white variants are back on the store. Black 16GB is out of inventory now.

  • jbdan

I know it’s a drop in the bucket but look at all the bye bye vzw posts wow

    • Eddie R

      haha crazy!

    • Droidzilla

It isn’t a drop in the bucket. If there are this many here, there are even more unreported; and us geeks are the ones who steer friends, family, and coworkers. Big Red might actually take a hit from this that they feel.

      • SparkysShocker

It will be a drop in a bucket there are many more people who would not switch from Verizon due to its coverage. T-mobile is the only other provider I would consider but I can jump to them because of their week coverage. Network>Hardware

        • Droidzilla

Without numbers, we both just have opinions. We’ll see in a couple of quarters.

  • dazz1996

I dont see anywhere in the page telling what networks it will work with. I would like to order but I have verizon so If anyone can tell me where in the google playstore I can find this information thanks

    • Steve B

Confirmed. There will not be a Verizon version.

    • Paul

      Doesn’t work on Verizon.
