Monday Poll: White or Black Nexus 5?

nexus 5 white black

Over the weekend, we got a clean look at two new Nexus 5 press renders in both black and white, thanks to @evleaks. A debate was almost immediately sparked over which version of the phone looked better, with some even dubbing the white version the “panda phone.” Since it’s not fully white with sides and front sticking to the black of the all-black version, the only real difference is the back plate. So, we’re curious as to which you all prefer?

If you were to buy the Nexus 5 (potentially at the end of this week), would you go all-black or are you leaning towards the white version?

Which Nexus 5 do you prefer, the white or the black?

I would’ve picked white but I hate the black front. Makes no sense and makes it look tacky and cheap like some Frankenstein monster (and the back was so appealing too)

  • Jony

White is awesome!!!! Also If it gets dirty you can wash it off. But if it gets scratched then it won’t be as noticeable as on black one. White is more stylish too.

I think the black looks better since the camera sticks out more on the white one. I do love how the white one is white in the back and black in the front. I hate white panel phones! I cannot stand looking at white all around the screen! Makes no sense. These stock photos don’t show the nexus 5 that good, look at cnet’s video and you can tell more of the matte.

white model is gonna be amazing !!

  • markgbe

FWIW (which is a lot), no one cares to hear from those who can’t get it because they’re on verizon, or don’t like LG phones, or just weh weh all the time…

    :D

having said that. I’m buying the white one because i want to do to the opposite of the majority, and because i always bought a black phone and it’s time to switch it up this year.

I wouldn’t care what color. I would rock one or the other if it was available for Verizon, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen. Meh.

All I can say is the white one looks amazing, and kit kat was astounding on the N5. It’s beautiful. The animations in the app drawer looked pretty damn sweet. When you scroll through it, they some what.. I don’t know how to explain.. Your apps look as though they are pressed down in the direction you are moving it, it just looked damn amazing. It’s as though there is pressure from your push moving them the direction they should go.

white reminds me of my HTC OneX (Tegra3). love that phone

  • MrWicket

I voted black but I have to say the white is cool looking.

  • aaron

I like the white one, but it seems like it’ll get dirty too fast.

    Once you go black….. nevermind.

I don’t want to get everybody’s hopes up again, but according to a build materials list I recently located the Nexus 5 DOES support Verizon’s network in its entirety. All the CDMA and LTE bands are present according to the specifications listed at this link.

The device is using the RF360 chip along with the WTR1605L – LTE band 13 support is present. The FCC may not have tested for it, but all the bands are there.

This means that the phone would simply have to activate LTE band 13 for use on Verizon, submit to FCC and there you go… Verizon would have to ‘certify’ it of course.

Anyone else notice that those don’t look like the same phone with just different colors? Seems to have some noticeable differences. The Power & volume rocker’s are very visible on the white, not so on the back. The white looks like more of a smooth back where the black looks like it is raised with rounded edges tapering in. The Cameras look different, etc…

    • LionStone

Yes there are obvious differences, the “LG” logo is smaller on the black model, flash, lens bezel…but I don’t expect them to be similar since its not official.

I usually prefer black phones, but I got to say, this might be the first time I think about purchasing a white phone. Damn this thing looks sexy. My GF will be so jealous of me getting this phone.

  • Ubi2447

It could be puke green and covered in shag carpet, I just want it on VZW

  • iNfAMOUS70702

you can just buy the backplate of the color you DON’T get and have both colors

  • Skittlez

    Black. white gets too dirty

  • Nagateja

The Panda model. White n black.

  • MK17

It’s not a white phone if it doesn’t have a white front.

    • Skittlez

so they’re both black phones? so if you order a black one, and you get the white-backed one, you’ll be ok, because it’s still black?

  • GentlemanScholar

I’m likely going to buy one of each on launch day and sell the other. I’m not sure how well the white will hold up and would like some reviews before I decide to keep that one.

  • BTLS

I’m wearing all black. Outlaws wear black. Fags and cocaine dealers wear white… Kenny Powers

  • ManBearPig618

“But, if you’re thinkin’ about my baby it don’t matter if you’re black or white.”

  • Johnny

i would not buy this, I have a strong dislike for LG phones. Have had bad past experiences with LG phones so i will pass on this one. If Nexus phone was made by anyone else would def get it.

  • Guy Meatdrapes

this is a no brainer… black

  • paticao
  • SplashMTN

I’m going with the white model because panda phone. Unfortunately it’ll be covered up by a case for at least the first 6 months.

  • Gaurav Arora

It’s not called the White model !! It’s called the Panda Edition.

  • Rodeojones000

If i was getting one, it would be the black as I don’t like the two-tone look of the white. But I now have the G2 so it’s a moot point.

    • LionStone

Yea, but you can still return the G2 :-)

      • Rodeojones000

Indeed. And don’t think I’m not leaving it open as an option. I’ve got until November 10th to return the G2.

  • Dave S.

If they’re going to bother with a White model…it should be ALL white…front AND back!

  • Vetal

its safer to get a black phone and then just get a white case http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EV8Y5MQ/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5
I ordered the white Spigen, looks nice

this way you get the half back and half white when you want it.
