Google Play Begins Adding HBO Shows, Game of Thrones and Newsroom Included

Screen Shot 2013-10-07 at 2.10.57 PM

HBO knows how to make some good television shows, if only it was not so expensive to access them. Today, Google Play announced that they now feature some of HBO’s most popular shows in their TV section and they plan on bringing more. Massively popular shows like Game of Thrones, Newsroom and True Blood are now available for purchase. Episodes are sold individually or in season-long bundles, but the seasons that are here are limited right now. However, Google promises that “many more are coming soon.”

I just recently got caught up on Game of Thrones so this is exciting news; anyone else interested in these shows on Google Play?

    “purchase”

  • JRUIV

I’d rather rent a season for a week then spend $40

Anybody else catch Eastbound last night? Great episode.

“Kenny, Go F$ck Sh@t Up!” Best line of the night.

Now, if only HBO would update their HBO Go App to use on my Nexus 7 2013 with 4.3…

    • Keith0606

Same boat here, but they might as well talk to google and get 4.4 at this rate so they can make it compatible with that.

HBO ought to adopt whatever setup netflix does as they seem to never have a problem being current with Android and being compatible with a wider array of devices.

still with HBO go i dont have to pay again to watch these shows. i just want to stream to my Chromecast.

    • Pedro

      That’s what I’m talking about.
Give me some Chromecasting ability in the HBO and Showtime apps.

Now to do the math on if it’s cheaper for me to keep HBO or buy just the shows I watch

  • Pedro Rainerdo Tejeda

Can anyone tell if these are SD or HD? The prices are better than Amazon’s if they are HD.

    • TheWenger

Off-topic, but it’s asinine they charge more for HD.

      • Greg

I was just about to make the same comment. Ridiculousness!

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

First price is always SD. Click on Price to see both options. The Wire for example doesn’t have an HD version assuming because it’s so old. The newer shows have that option.

Just finished catching up on GoT last month, now I’m watching S01 of The Newsroom on XfinityTV’s app. Crazy that I can watch it there, but not On Demand on my cable box.

Lock it up, Comcast!!! (or don’t lock anything, rather)

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

    THE WIRE!… *JAW DROPPED* . . . Chromecast baby!

    • SkylaC90

      Best series EVER!!!!!
