Snapchat Receives Update, Brings Snapchat Stories for Hipster Short Film Directors

YouTube Preview Image

Snapchat is based on the idea that you can send short videos and random pictures to your friends, viewable for up to only 10 seconds. After the time runs out, they’re gone forever, never to be seen again. That’s why we like it. The photos we send hold little to no meaning whatsoever.

With the newest update to Snapchat, the development team has introduced Snapchat Stories, a feature that allows you to put together a string of videos and photos, then make it available to a multitude of friends for up to 24 hours. Once you see the trailer above, you will see what I mean about the hipster short film directors.

The update is live now on Google Play, so go grab it today.

The first idea that popped into my head with Snapchat Stories was to make a little short film every 24 hours. Made my first one yesterday!

I love adsvideos commercials that have no explanation of what theyre actualy advertising

I don’t get the point of this app. Why would you want to take or share a photo that only exists for such a short amount of time unless you are trying to do something covert and then it is no good because a simple screen capture from the person on the other end will preserve it. Or, why would you want to go through the work of putting one of these “stories” together only to have it disappear 24 hours later.

i like it so i can send stupid pictures to friends and they only see them long enough to laugh :P

      • moew

screen capture… needed for every frame now!

  • MK17

That should probably say, “viewable for as little as 10 seconds.”

  • Boomax

FYI stories seem to send to ALL of your friends. Don’t see a way to change that so be careful if you selectivity send snaps…

It doesn’t “send” to your friends, as in they get a notification, but when they look for stories yours will be there

I believe you’d get your ass kicked saying something like that.

  • jbreezy

wow, that was 45 seconds of my life i’ll never get back…

Tweens are huge users of snapchat. They are not hipsters. Don’t let the silly little youtube video confuse you.

  • JBartcaps

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH hipsters.

    • Grizzly Atoms

I feel like the word hipster and liberal are words we should stop using as insults. Anytime you are doing this you are showing that you have the maturity of a walnut.

Aside from that, I enjoy the snapchat UI.

Hipster is an insult? Not where I’m from. :P

        • Grizzly Atoms

That is the intended usage of the word, have you not looked at the comments on this website? Anytime a photo sharing service app comes up everyone drops the word hipster in a negative light.

          • joseph barrientos

lol chill out man, hipster is a word to define a group of people in the “hipster movement”. same with emo, jock, nerd, etc, so get off your high horse, its nothing big, however is accurate

      • JBartcaps

The title is funny, hence why i laughed

      • Adam Neighbors

That’s a very hipster of you to say.

        • Grizzly Atoms

          Point proven^

        • joseph barrientos

hipsters shouldn’t be on this blog, its too mainstream.

      • Eion

Can’t hear you, too busy taking a picture of my chai latte spice tea with various filters.

        • Grizzly Atoms

ITT: People try to be edgy.

        • sk3litor

In you apartment decorated in steam punk? ; p

      • YinzerRob

if you aren’t insulted by it, then you are probably a hipster yourself and hence wouldn’t understand the insult to begin with…

        • Grizzly Atoms

I’m not even sure you know what you just said.

      • MikeKorby

Hey everyone, we got a hipster over here!

  • Ian Smith

    god damnit.
