MotoMaker Coming to Verizon Moto X on November 11, According to @evleaks

moto x motomaker

According to famed tech leaker @evleaks, we could see the launch of custom Moto X devices through MotoMaker as early as November 11. We don’t necessarily have visual proof or word from our sources to help the story, but this man doesn’t typically Tweet something if he doesn’t believe it to be the real deal. So call it a rumor for now, but November was the time frame tossed around as a potential VZW MotoMaker launch shortly after AT&T was given the exclusive deal in August.

We’ve already taken you on a couple of tours of MotoMaker, so be sure to check out the latest with our build of the green Moto X pictured above to familiarize  yourself.

Should November be the month for Verizon and MotoMaker, are any of you considering selling your black or white carrier version? Did some of you hold out for this moment?

So I can report honestly as to the Moto X. My buddy went to Asia for the last week and was only allowed to take his company phone. He asked me to receive his Moto X via UPS while he was gone and set it up for him as he is new to Android.

I jumped at the chance to test the X and also ATT signal.

    Conclusion:

    – I can tell it’s a 720 screen. Sufficient? Yes. But at that price no.
    – The UI is indeed smooth and very stock looking. However I did see some lag when loading large apps such as maps.
    – feels good in hand
    – voice commands are cool but just a gimmick.
    – battery life was on par with my S4

Overall it’s a nice sufficient phone. Problem is price. Definitely not as fast as my S4 and they sell for the same price.

    • guest

No lag its faster than s4 ..you don’t know what you areare talking about .have both phones at home ..moto x is smoother and faster with every app (including maps) ..and it’s just not me go and search online its the majority opinion..its also the opinion of droid life crew here ..if you have been following the droid life team and there podcasts you would know it

      • Godzilla

I can only speak to my personal experience. Get over yourself and accept the fact that someone might have a different opinion than you.

Im glad you love the phone because I want moto to do well. This phone simply isnt for me.

      • Liderc

Having compared the two I agree with Godzilla. The screen is visibly 720P, and it doesn’t appear as smooth as the S4. I got a little bit better battery life with the X, but that may be because I used it less.

I do like the size of the X more than the S4 though, I think Samsung is getting close to reaching a size that’s not usable, even with above average sized hands.

The problem is the Moto X is overpriced for what it is. We’re essentially having to pay for other people who want to make their phone fugly colors – and that’s a fact.

        • needa

the moto is actually faster than the gs4 90% of the time. its also smoother by a long shot. the color accuracy on the gs4 is no where near as good either. the gs4 does take sharper pics and its still better on exposure (post update)… but not by much. as with everyone… these are my observations, and they obviously vary from person to person. one thing is for sure though…. the gs4 is stupidly slow for what it has under the hood.

    • ddevito

You certainly have your opinions and tastes, but the voice commands aren’t a gimmick. ESPECIALLY in the car. It’s 100% hands free. That’s something all phones should be.

  • 655321

Nice. Any word on when wood backs will be available? Did ceramic backs make it out of the testing phase? Are they offering laser engraving again or is it still on hold? If wood and/or ceramic backs are available will they be able to be engraved? When is the rumored $100 price drop expected?

I’m hoping to get a ceramic-backed Moto X on Verizon for $149 ($99 plus $50 for the premium back) come next month.

  • Tim242

Verizon, please ship my Note 3 early.

    • Pdewet

I have been hoping the same thing. Waiting on the DL post that says, “some Verizon customers seeing their orders are shipping already”

  • Tim242

Hey Moto, this pick your color nonsense is not going to save you. Do better.

    • Godzilla

      Agreed

      • guesswhat

Motomaker is icing on the cake ..the phone itself is awesome ..don’t comment without using the phone

        • Godzilla

I used it while a buddy was in Asia for a week. Not impressed.

          • guesswhat

You are just biased and didnt use the features ..its the most useful phone ..assist announcing messages coupled with touch less controlcontrol in car is an awesome experience that you don’t get anywhere, active display is how notifications should dontbhave yo unlock phone to check time or peak notifications saves ton of time and battery …Bluetooth trusted devices to not have to unlock phon everytime ..along with these awesome featurethe phone is really snappy NEVER lags..snappier than galaxy s4 and htc one ( have used both) .the feature and experience you get with moto x is unparelled in smartphone industry currently

          • Godzilla

totally disagree. I had the thing for 6 days so trust me when I say i used all the features. And most of those features are indeed pretty cool.

I DID see lag when opening maps, carhome ultra, and amazon mp3. The camera is FOR SURE not even close to the S4.

Look its a nice phone, im not saying it isnt, but im saying it does not deserve to be priced at the same level as the S4.

          • guesswhat

S4 lags too ..and touch wiz is crappy so it should not deserve the flagship price too ..don’t tell me now that s4 doesn’t lag

          • Godzilla

i didnt say the S4 never lags, but it lags less than this X i tested for 6 days brand new out of the box.

I dont use touchwiz to be honest. If you put nova on your S4 you dont see the homescreen lag that has been reported.

But hey guess what? There isnt a phone invented yet that does not have lag somewhere.

          • guesswhat

fine may be that may be the experience you had ..definitely not the majority opinion ..moto x is considered smoothest devices out there alongside nexus 4 ..damn with those specs even note 3 lags (havent used it speaking to it from droid life review)

          • Godzilla

you seem to think i have something against this phone. Did you not read what I said about only using moto devices since I was 14? All I ever said was this phone isnt for me, i never said “this phone totally sucks kellen dickk”

          • gueswhat

i just dont agree that that s4 performs better than moto x ..lets agree to disagree ..move on..

          • Gnex

ONE LAST THING. Another major flaw with the X is build quality. The US variants look like they’re assembled sloppily; Edges don’t align and some have little bits of particulate matter below the camera lenses. There’s an entire XDA thread on buying the Puerto Rican/Canadian models because they’re made in China and assembled much more precisely. Ugh.

          • Godzilla

Yup I can say that one of the edges fealt weird everytime I had it in hand and also there was a weird piece of molding near the camera. I was like WTF is that?

          • Gnex

            #Buyer’sRemorse #Nexus5

          • crazed_z06

I noticed this too when playing with the phone at the store. It seemed really “rough”. Very suprised considering the argument here is constantly touting how amazing the build quality is.

          • Gnex

I really hate to say it, but I wish they would have built the damn thing in China. *feels bad*

          • Godzilla

and by the way, i am not biased. This S4 is the first non motorola phone I have ever owned. I am 32 years old and have been using motorola devices since I was 14 years old.

  • WickedToby741

Motorola should offer a program for those who bought the standard black or white Moto X to send it in and change to a custom color. They could even offer it to those simply hoping to change colors on an already customized one. I know they have a grace period for you to send it back and have it changed if you don’t like it for free, but I think they should do a flat fee (say $50?) to send your Moto X in to be re-customized like say if you change your mind 6 months in.

I also think it would be a neat idea for them to keep the same body for next year’s Moto X and offer a program to send your phone in and have just the internals (screen, motherboard, etc) swapped to the next gen version. It would be both environmentally friendly and an awesome way for users to get the latest and greatest cheaper.

  • TheDrunkenClam

    Who cares?
Locked Bootloader. 16GB with no SD. Non removable battery.
    This phone is a joke.

    • M3D1T8R

I agree 16GB is a joke. But MotoMaker available on more carriers at least gives us a 32GB option. I’m still hoping for 64GB….next year maybe.

  • yummy

    And the Lord said,
    yummy, there will be seven
    temptations to overcome on
    your journey out of Furizonland.
And the first will be named ‘MotoMaker’.

    Bring it on bitches!

  • jt O’Brien

I’m still considering this phone just for those awesome software enhancements. I have the active display app on my GNex and I can’t imagine ever going back to a device that isn’t capable of active display. I’m the kind of guy who likes the innovative phones. Right now the only two of those on the market are the Moto X(and the droids I suppose but ew) and the Note 3 and I like stock android so my decision is pretty clear.

    • M3D1T8R

You run the active display app on your GNex? Does the phone not still lose battery when plugged in? I had to have that thing connected to a charger constantly (or swap one of my five batteries) when I had it, can’t imagine the battery with active display.

      • jt O’Brien

I have a 4900mAh extended battery so it gets me through almost 24 hrs.

        • M3D1T8R

lol, nice. You’ll be amazed how much better battery life is on _any_ of the newer phones, thanks to better LTE chips. My DNA w/ 5″ screen, battery slightly smaller than the G.Nex (2020 vs 2100 I think), has three times the battery life, no joke. I had a Moto X for about a day and it seemed good.

  • http://www.parafriv.net/ Para Friv

It actually makes sense in the connection information, I really like it.

  • http://www.parafriv.net/ Para Friv

I am glad to see this beautiful phone, I’ll try to make money to buy it.

  • Mario

    too late.. enjoying my G2

    • Lucky Armpit

Agreed – too late. Already enjoying my larger-display, bigger-battery, more-internal, and identically-softwared Droid Maxx.

  • flybass

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I only buy phones when they are brand new since the technology changes so much in a short amount of time. Big fail on not having motomaker at launch. Who cares about this now?

  • Stephen Melley

    Too late, loving my G2

  • Teddy Chen

Will they let us customize how big the Verizon Logo will be and where to put it?

  • Brett Mustard Plemons

i definitely waited for this moment but i would sell my carrier version for it

  • jh123416

No Nexus 5 on Verizon? I’ll be getting the Moto X with MotoMaker.

  • chris_johns

Next phone less nexus comes to vz…i feel a lot of us are in that boat

  • TreasaHurd

My co-worker’s sister makes $86 all hour on the internet.
She has been exclusive of handiwork representing 9 months but after everything else month her payment was
$13566 truly working on the internet representing a a small number of hours. Behold, BIG44.com

  • chris_johns

Woo…finally now i know when to get my new phone…except im still waiting on more development…its hard to leave my droid razr hd with carbon4.3 on it ima miss the customization n tweaks that ive grown far to used to having….ugh decisions decisions

  • carluverdrm2004

Do you think that Verizon stores will have color examples in store, like you said that AT&T do?

  • http://www.jugarjugar.net/ Jugar Jugar

I do not really like it. Its design does not look very good. With its price range I can own the better phone performance and what is not debatable

    • chris_johns

you obviously never used one…performes as well as the “top dogs” and is a way better build/footprint/design….these reasons it will be my next phone

    • guesswhat

It performs better than any other androidandroid device out there Including HTC one s4 and g2. You have to use it to beleive it. Also it has the most useful and FWD thinking features ever built on a smartphone.

  • Walter Partlo

Hopefully this will coincide with the rumored price drop and wood backs being available.

  • Scott Webber

So you think we’ll get the camera update by then?

  • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

No one cares about the Moto X anymore. This phone is old news now.

  • M3D1T8R

Already just sold mine (that I got through the weekend upgrade deal). Happy with my DNA still. But might take another look when we get Motomaker, for the 32GB. Really want 64GB though. Maybe if the price drops $100 by then too like it should. Or just go Dev. Edition.. Or most likely wait til next year. : )

  • EnX$$

    this phone is old already

  • eaadams

same day the Nexus 5 actually goes for sale and ships

  • XvierX

I’ve held out this long… Might as well continue waiting a few more weeks.

  • Scott

Gosh I want this phone, but I’m terrified the reception is bad. I can’t have another Galaxy Nexus for two years.

    • LionStone

Why would you think a Motorola phone wouldn’t have good reception on Verizon’s network? Pretty sure you’re good :-)

      • Scott

I won’t lie. I purchased the an iPhone 5C during the “glitch”, just because the GNex left a sour taste in my mouth about Android. While I love the zippyness of the 5C and the battery life, the highlight is the signal! Every where I went, I had full 4G. No data drops, no switchouts to 3G. I knew the GNex was bad, I had no idea that bad. Regardless of all that, iOS7 annoys me and gives me a headache. I actually didn’t mind the previous version on my wife’s iPhone 4S. I want to come back, I just have an iPhone with no problems and a little scared to give that up even if the OS is annoying.

I’ve also been hearing that there is a mic issue making it hard for the person on the other end to hear you.

    • M3D1T8R

The reception is much much better than the G.Nex. I had the G.Nex, then just got a Moto X and did extensive testing. Ended up selling it and sticking w/ my DNA for now, which has maybe slightly better reception, but the Moto X is a close second. Definitely a world better than the Samsung crap phones.

    • chris_johns

what are u smoking n where can i get some

    • KleenDroid

If a new version of the Gnex came out I would buy it in a heartbeat over a locked down Motorola phone.

  • richkoos

I wonder if they will offer a trade in for people who bought the stock ones. Or maybe charge as much as $50 for customization. That would be awesome.

  • Matt R Carner

Too late. I was ready to pull the trigger on four of these for my share everything plan, but the AT&T exclusivity deal soured me. We ended up with two HTC Ones, a GS4 and a G2. All great phones.

I’ll reconsider the Moto X again when Republic Wireless gets a Moto Maker version as long as it’s still $299.

  • runner30

Woo hoo! I waited for motomaker and glad a date is semi confirmed. Hopefully the updated camera update will be out by that time…probably not :(

    • William_Morris

We are talking about an update on VZW right? Yeah, that update will be out right about the time Thanksgiving rolls around… maybe.

  • shecalledmejay

I want the Wooden Option that’s the only thing I’m waiting for. I already came to terms with the Nexus 5 not coming to Verizon

    • WickedToby741

Verizon would be more than happy to give you the wood, but perhaps not in the way you’re talking.

      • shecalledmejay

LMAO Yeah Verizon has been having it’s way with me but I just can’t seem to leave the relationship. I need help

  • Anon

If you’re going Verizon anyway…I can’t see why you wouldn’t go Droid MAXX and get the extra battery and the wireless charging.

    • JoeTi

Love the maxx but a custom moto x is the closest to the nexus 5 Verizon’s getting anytime soon.

      • William_Morris

Actually, considering the G2 has the ability to be rooted and also has practically the same hardware as the Nexus 5 (excluding a better camera), it’s probably the closest thing.

I’d love to get a Moto X that has the unencrypted bootloader without the hassle of buying a Developer Edition phone on VZW. Oh well.

        • hkklife

Don’t forget that the G2 also likely has a much bigger battery and anywhere from 4x to 2x the internal storage of a Nexus 5. So that just makes it all the more compelling.

          • LionStone

Yea, that G2 battery is beastly, they got their ish together on that one. Even bests the GN3 on WiFi web browsing test, smaller screen but smaller battery too.

          • chris_johns

            that back though…fugly…and to big

        • interstellarmind

Higher MP count does not a better camera make. It’s all about the hardwarehardware (sensors, lens, etc).

If the N5 will have a lower MP count and same hardware as the higher MP count G2 camera in order to lower overall cost I will be very happy.

The nexus brand caters to those who know better.

          • William_Morris

Not arguing that MP count is what makes it better, however, the software that goes with the whole OIS thing on the G2 does happen to make the camera much better than anything we’ve ever seen with a Nexus phone. (Then again, camera performance has ALWAYS been weak on Nexus phones… I do hope that will be corrected this time around but Google’s track record is subpar at best.)

      • chris_johns

        this^

      • KleenDroid

I’m sorry, but maybe we have different opinions of what a Nexus is. And this certainly isn’t it. This is a Motorola phone which means there will be no bypassing the bootloader.

Nexus means open and roms not just close to stock software.

I checked this phone out the other day at Verizon. It’s a cute little phonebut it’s no Nexus. Actually I wouldn’t give up a Gnex for it for only a couple new features and a fully locked “stuck” system.

A bootloader bypassed S4 or G2 running a Google Edition rom, Cyanogenmod, or any rom you want is closer to a Nexus in my opinion.

        • JoeTi

Splitting hairs here…. my point is, as of now, there is NO VZW nexus 5 on the horizon. I would put a (Dev Ed) moto x over the LG G2 as far as proximity to a Nexus due to the form factor and near stock ui, plus Google owned. That said, I agree with you that I had a hard time putting down my GNex knowing there was no VZW Nexus replacement coming anytime soon. I don’t ROM as much nowadays, so I chose near stock ui and beefy battery (Maxx). But it is NOT a nexus.

          • KleenDroid

Do not agree. The G2 can Loki which is is well above the ability of the X. Install a Google Edition ROM or whatever you like.

            But enjoy whatever you like.

    • Jason B

The extra battery is nice, but the design of the phone isn’t. The Moto X looks better, and I know that’s subjective, but I’m really over the whole Droid phone look.

So, that means the 32GB Moto X will be available on Verizon soon. Yes!

    • jrbmed08

I wanted the combination of a smaller phone and a near-stock UI that I don’t have to root and install custom ROMs to get. My company will only allow access to work email on non-rooted phones. Plus, the MAXX was $100 more when I bought last weekend during the unlimited data upgrade glitch.

      • John

A glitch? This is an Android forum not the *sheeps, so please.
If it last 10 seconds or at most 10 minutes, then it’s a glitch. This thing lasted the whole weekend and one whole complete weekend at that.
That was probably their best selling weekend, so no it’s not a glitch.

        • jrbmed08

Semantics. Just saying that’s when I bought, and why I didn’t buy the MAXX.

    • hkklife

Agreed. Too little, too late for X and MotoMaker on VZW. G2 is out, Note 3 is almost here, Droid Maxx has been out and is falling in price. And, of course, the new iPhones are out. At the very least, they should have offered a 32GB version at launch on all carriers. I fondled both the X and Maxx side by side tonight at BB and I think the Maxx’s greater bulk is mostly justified by its extra features.

    • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

      Need on screen nav here

    • M3D1T8R

Reports say FoxFi doesn’t work on the Maxx. It works fine on the X. Essential if not rooting. And the X feels fantastic in hand. But otherwise I agree with you.

      • Logan Greenwood

Your correct foxfi doesn’t work but the stock wifi ap does just fine with the entitlement hack. You can even uproot after doing this if you like.

        • chris_johns

actually this was a hugeeeee question for me….i cant get a phone if i cant wireless teather to my n7…thank you for confirming this for me makes it easier to buy

          • Logan Greenwood

The entitlement hack works for most phones, keeps me from having to installed unneeded apps and I like that!

        • Steve

Do you have a link? I would love to get this set up on my Maxx.

    • chris_johns

wireless charging is a gimmick charges to slow for my taste…and the max is big i wasnt a fan of its size with a case that things a brick

  • Gnex

Kellen, you forgot to take a picture of the Moto X face-down in the middle of the street.

    • aQuickBit

Don’t worry I got you covered!

      • JoshGroff

Moto X is lava proof, confirmed.

        • Maxim∑

          Half Life 3, confirmed

      • Gnex

        You are my hero.

  • KB

And Verizon MotoX will probably still be waiting for the camera fix.

    • WickedToby741

Verizon probably just won’t approve it because it “compromises network security and reliability.” They’ll just try to sell you an Edge plan with shared data instead.

  • cush2push

LTE testing has not been done on any colors except Black with a sweet ass Red Verizon logo on the back we at Verizon want you to have the best LTE experience possible we will update you as soon as we finish the LTE testing on colors other than Black with a sweet ass Red Verizon logo on the back until than Enjoy your VERIZON Moto X in Black with a sweet ass Red Verizon logo on the back with Americas most reliable LTE service
    thanks VERIZON

  • cgalyon

Not sure, but after watching many flagship phone launches and the generally rapid deterioration of sales and interest, I’m beginning to think phones have a short “prime sales” window like video games or other commodities. The bulk of the sales would occur in the first few months. If true, then these exclusivity agreements are likely terrible ideas for the manufacturers, unless the alternative is such poor marketing effort from the carrier that it can make up the difference. (This is entirely speculation on my part, I don’t have any data to verify it)

    • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

The iphone had exclusive for years and it still did very well on it’s initial launch. But I still agree exclusives suck.

  • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

I’m going to make a prediction now that this will also be about the time new colors and maybe even wood backs appear on MotoMaker.

    • carluverdrm2004

      But on all carriers?

      • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

All carries allowed to use MotoMaker at least.

        • carluverdrm2004

I just know Verizon is behind on phone updates and phone release dates and didn’t know if that would somehow affect this in some way.

          • WickedToby741

Shouldn’t. My guess is that there were logistical reasons for the exclusivity, kind of like running a beta to test before opening the floodgates. AT&T got the exclusivity most likely because Verizon wasn’t willing to pay for it with the Droid series. Updates shouldn’t have any bearing on the physical customization aspects of the device.

          • umbrellacorp

Verizon needs to rigorously test each color to make sure it is compatible and safe for their network. PURPLE!!!!!!!!

      • Armorthane

On all carriers not named Verizon…

    • Pedro

With the NFL and VZW marriage, there may even be team specific exclusive choices.
      Just in time for Christmas.

  • Scott Kart

    Verizon…Where’s my update?

    • ThomasMoneyhon

when they are good and ready, then they will make you wait an extra 4 weeks, then you can have it.

      • LionStone

Then, when you do finally get it, it’s a wimpy Talkback ‘enhancement’…(ala today’s DNA update)!

  • Mark Aaron Collado

any word on moto maker for t-mo ? im torn between moto x and n5? hoping to see the camera quality on the n5.

    • Frettfreak

yeah.. i am kinda in the same boat, but have all but written off the moto X at this point. My Jump comes up in December and there will be newer / cooler phones by then. Would have easily bought one had moto maker and the x been on tmobile at launch.

HOWEVER… i am REALLY happy with my HTC one. Really have zero complaints!

      • Mark Aaron Collado

Did you root your HTC One?

  • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

Holding out, and need 32 GB.

    • carluverdrm2004

I thought you could pay extra to get a 32 GB model through Motomaker?

      • chris_johns

        yes….his point exactly

        • carluverdrm2004

I guess I was just confused since this is one of several 32 GB mentions on this post.

        • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

          Thank you!

  • Artune

Yeah too late, while the moto x 32 gig was my first choice. Getting the lg g2 and keeping unlimited is fine by me, no buyers remorse.

  • marko358

No Moto X at launch was a deal breaker for me. Motorola lost an easy sale as I was ready to make the purchase. Pretty dang happy with my HTC One now.

Not going to make much of a difference after the N5 comes out!

    • Dan DeMarco

Show me Nexus 5 for CDMA and LTE and I’ll high five you.

      • JDub

But it does have cdma and lte. Albeit for Sprint, but i do believe you owe this man a high five.

    • Ryan Powell

It does when the N5 doesn’t come to Verizon. Moto X is the closest we will ever get to a Nexus phone on Verizon.

      • Greyhame

I’d say it’s the closest thing to stock on VZW that we’ll get… unfortunately the update experience will be nothing close to a Nexus.

      • KleenDroid

Lol you have a strange definition of a Nexus.

    • NexusMan

      We’ll see when it comes.

      • ανώνυμος

        VZW won’t

  • krudl3rx

    AFTER Oct. 30??? LOL.

  • red014

    Three words. Thirty Two Gigabytes.

    • M3D1T8R

      Yep. I still want 64 or even better 128 though. : )

      • Big_EZ

Me too. I don’t even understand how higher end devices are even released with 16 gb even with a microSD slot, and especially without one. I have a 64 gb card with about 45-50 gb used, but the 16 gb internal storage is maxed out just from the OS and apps alone. I think companies should release a 32gb version for the people that don’t utilize their phone much and a 128 gb version for the rest of us (or JUST ADD A MICROSD SLOT!!!).

        • KleenDroid

Agreed. Anything less than 32 without an sd slot is not an option at all.

But these dinky little phones might be good for kids that just text.

    • KleenDroid

Just put in a 64 gig sd card.

      Oh wait…..

      • Big_EZ

That is the single reason I can’t consider the Moto X and Droid Maxx. Those are the only phones that have me excited. The Note 3 looks like a good replacement for my Note 2, but I’m tired of not having working AOSP even though it’s unlocked, and the Note 3 probably won’t even be unlocked.

        • JonathonFlores

Coming from a 32G Gnex, I don’t have a problem. With everything in the cloud (Music, app data, pics and other media) it’s kind of pointless.

          • Big_EZ

Its not so pointless when you cant access the cloud when you want to use your media.

          • Pakmann2k

It wasn’t pointless when I was sitting on a plane crossing the Pacific and I had 3 memory cards loaded with movies and TV shows.

          • kretz7

So when you can’t access the cloud, you need access to more than 32 GB of storage? What could you possibly be doing that requires the need to access it all, all the time? Or is it just the case where because you have more than 32 GB worth of media, you feel like you need it all at your finger tips at any give time? Serious questions here, not trolling. I just don’t understand the need for it so I’m trying to…

          • Big_EZ

I listen to music for about 7-9 hours a day. I also get throttled by my provider, so the majority of that time I don’t have a data connection (or worse, it cuts in and out long enough to start a song for only a few seconds). Some people don’t listen to the same few songs over and over.

          • Michael Vernon

Just make a 7-9 hour playlist of your music in Google Music, keep it to your device, and BAM! You’ve got all your music local without all the huge memory usage. Don’t ask me how Google does it. It’s magic.

          • William Kister

            Works if you have signal.

          • Michael Vernon

Works if you have Wifi for the initial download. Don’t need signal if you have it all localized.

          • TheBigNoob

I was so confused when I went underground on the train and my I’m feeling lucky playlist just keep going. Seriously, Google Music has some strange Voodoo magic powering it.

          • Michael Vernon

Now do it without signal at all. It’s pretty amazing.

          • Michael Vernon

No need to access the cloud if you sync everything up before you leave. Perhaps our habits are different and we’ve conformed to the Google way of doing things. You have a lot more flexibilty with SD.

          • Adrynalyne

Try recording 1080p into the cloud.

            Cloud = mostly consumption.

Local storage can be used for consumption and production.

      • marko358

Meenova? Works great on my HTC One.

    • Doris

my Aunty Nevaeh recently got Mercedes-Benz S-Class S65 AMG just by parttime work online… you could try these out……… www.Jam10.com

    • kretz7

At what point will you need access to more storage than that?

  • Buur

You’ll be forced to pick no less than 4 different versions of the Verizon logo. But they can be different colors so there’s that.

    • umbrellacorp

i want the one with the Verizon logo with the MURIKA FLAG. USA USA USA

  • tanknspank

    76 days late, $579.99 short.

No way I’d have ever waited that long.

    • NexusMan

If your upgrade and or contract was up right around that time…Only reason why I’ve waited, but still trying to decide whether I’m even gonna stick with Verizon when my contract ends in December. I’m sooooo tired of their bs, but I also dont relly want to lose my Unlimited Data by going to AT&T.

    • MacNificent

      RIGHT!!!
As I type this on my G2’s beautiful screen outside with the sun in my face. Was waiting on the wood moto but they definitely lost a sale from me with their exclusivity crap.

  • Ryan Powell

This news made my night. Now I can only hope that they don’t find some way to ruin the custom moto x experience like they did with the nexus experience.

    • tanknspank

Well, it is the last US carrier to receive the recent update that majorly improves the camera and fixes/improves other things. That enough is to make me wish I could have gotten mine on another carrier.

      • NexusMan

IF it does even ever get that update.

      • ThomasMoneyhon

its verizon. everyone knows what to expect.

“McAdam talked about the “friction” he has put into the process of upgrading a smartphone, which makes it tougher for a customer to get a new device, which he said helped the company’s bottom line.”

        awesome guy, super awesome company.

        • WickedToby741

Precisely the reason I’m no longer a customer.
