Wednesday Poll: Is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Your Next Phone?

Note 3

Well, did you see enough today to make the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 your next phone? We know that the Note 2 cult had quite the membership, but does the Note 3 offer enough to get Note 2 users to upgrade and Note-holdouts to make the switch? We’re talking a similar sized device with a slightly bigger yet full HD display, upgraded camera, more RAM, a super-powerful processor, new S Pen, and the latest version of Android. It’s quite the overall package, even with that ridiculous faux leather back.

Its what’s under the so called ugly leather that counts idiot. Go back to your dated iphone! Samsung created a amazing phablet in the note 3..

  • mikeszekely

Sorry, I refuse to buy anything with TouchWiz. Hands down the ugliest Android skin I’ve ever suffered.

  • Richard Yarrell

I have always said for 7 months now that nothing would matter after September 4th period. Well that day has come and gone and guess what I was 100% correct. Nothing tops this device today period.

  • Taglogical

Wait you forgot the bit about the new and improved HD screen still being OLED = I couldn’t pass harder on a device; you can definitely keep your s-pen, Sammy.

  • Patrick Bateman

    nope… nexus 5 bitches!!!!

  • Me

Honestly not the biggest Samsung fan but if I was to get a Samsung device it would be this. minus ButtWiz

  • viewthis66

hell yes!!! can’t wait! this is what i love about the Android community. choice! for me, this phone is perfect!

  • Bionicman

yup im getting it. i think its a nice upgrade to my Note 2. i always believed a 1080p screen would look great on this size of a display.

  • NYCHitman1

Waiting for the next Nexus phone. I have no interest in phablets.

  • poop

The “No” answer’s a little harsh. I’ve never had any experience with an S Pen, just don’t want a device that big 😛

  • chris420o

give me a new nexus on verizon…n not the nexus 5 i want a remade nexus4 i dont these silly oversized phones i got a big ego i dont need compensation…or give me a google play priced moto x with motomaker for the love of god!

I will probably get hate for this, but I just had my first real experience with Touch Wiz the other day trying to help my dad with his S3. I would rather gouge out both my eyes and cut off my thumbs then ever have to use Samsung software again in my life. Infuriating, ugly, and made me wonder how they got so huge now that I have actually used it. Sense wasn’t nearly as bad from what I remember and yet they are the ones sinking in the market.

    • Dominick White

      Removable battery

      • fauxshizzl

A small feature that generation by generation is getting to be completely unnecessary versus the way your phone works? Doesn’t seem like a wise decision making process when spending hundreds of dollars.

        • Dominick White

Well that’s why many people stay with Samsung, and hard to believe to you but many people like Samsung skin…. And before anyone starts posting about how ugly Samsung skin is, just letting you know i am not a fan of touch wiz

          • fauxshizzl

The fact it is ugly isn’t even the real problem with it, it is the functionality. I did not find one thing they added to be conducive to the OS at all over the stock variation. In fact in many cases they just made things harder to find. The settings menu is a disaster. Obviously we are a group with differing opinions (which is mostly why we love Android to begin with) and I don’t mean disrespect to those who like it, but I could never own anything that ran on it.

        • Taglogical

I won’t touch a device with an OLED so I won’t be getting this phone, however a removable battery is a deal-breaking feature; What happens when your battery dies or your phone dies? With a fixed battery and no expandable storage, the whole phone goes in to the ‘repair abyss’ along with all of your private, priceless data. GG. Next!

I am a current N2 owner and just wasn’t wowed enough to sell and upgrade. The specs are awesome but all of those extra “fancy” features don’t do anything for me and are just too much.

  • Chippah

The GNEX wasnt that great of a looker either..

But if your on VZW and you are still using a gnex, this is the Note 3 is about the only Logical choice right now. The LG specs are ok, but no removal back, and even WORSE look and UI takes it off the radar.

And the Nexus 5. Might be great, but we all know it will never come to vzw.

    • chris420o

i think the x is more logical then then stuffing a small tablet in your pocket and to your ear

  • Ghassan Shubbar

To me its between the LG G2 and the Note3. Now all that is left to see what the HTC Maxx will look like.

  • Octotron

I was a huge fan of the Note 2… this one.. I don’t know. There is no reason I SHOULDN’T be excited… but I am not.

I really hate the faux-leather. Really, REALLY hate the way it looks.

  • C-Law

After owning a note 2 I can say with confidence that this phone is too big for me. Even with my s4, I’m on the upper limit of one hand comfort. My sweet spot was the s3 and gnex. Maybe I can find someone to trade my vzw s4 for a Moto x.

    • chris420o

      this 10000x

  • I was really excited for the Note 3, but the presentation didn’t “wow” me in any way. The majority was just software enhancements that could easily be made available for the Note 2. I’m waiting for the next Nexus!

  • Dimitar Staykov

I may wait to see the next NEXUS, and decide after that 🙂

  • hans wee

maybe if i were lebron james size and had giant hands. i actaully had a coworker who actually WAS lebron’s size and played college ball and loves these giant phones. but yeah not for me.

  • Dude

    No. I love my S4 :).

  • IrishSid

I thought the leather was really nice. And I’ve always wanted on of those leather cases but didn’t want the extra thickness. So this is best of both worlds.
It will also help with grip.
It was a good move until their next gen offerings and I will certainly be buying one.

  • Smite

I want the HTC First with a hi-res screen, up to date specs, and stock android. The build quality, minimalistic design, & the way it feels in hand really resonated with me. Small form factor phone are just better. One hand uses is so important. The S4 was to big for me (pause) having to wiggle my hands up & down the phone just to reach a button or touch something on screen was such a burden. I sadly went back to the iPhone for comfort and ease of uses.

  • miri

Between the hardware/capacitive keys and Samsung being dead set on customizing Android to the point that you can barely recognize it as the same operating system, no not even if paid. As much as I use my phone and as obsessive as I am about design, it would drive me crazy very quickly. (and no, I don’t do custom ROMs).

  • Kill_Em_All_84

I can’t be the only person who just doesn’t want an Android phone with capacitive and/or hardware nav buttons anymore!

    • Chippah

the only thing is that it saves screen real estate.

      • chris420o

is it such a burdeon on your life that they take a few mm from your wallpaper? this argument is so dumb…whenever you do anything that would really require fullscreen like watch a video or play a game it goes full screen

  • EnX$$

droid-life dont ask me now there is no talk without the HTC ONE MAX on the table. i will decide when i see the HTC ONE MAX

  • At least they didn’t say Vegan friendly leather……
Seriously I read that on product description for my nexus 7’s case and I was like “U WIN MARKETING”
