True Skate for Android, Where Your Fingers Are Your Feet

Last week when we wrote up the Portal application, the developer showed off how you can view floating notifications while on top of games and apps. Well, the game he demonstrated the functionality with caught everyone’s eye, so I went to Google Play to check it out. The game is called True Skate, and is probably the best skateboarding experience outside of riding a real board, besides those TechDeck mini skateboards that everyone had back in the day. Ah, memories.

In True Skate, your fingers act as your feet. When sliding your finger down the display alongside the board, it is as if you are pushing on the cement, propelling your board forward. Once you are moving, you can perform an ollie, which then leads to a vast array of different aerial flips and poll grinds you can accomplish inside of a large skatepark.

There are lots of missions and challenges in the game, so if you like skateboarding, I can’t imagine you would ever get bored of this game. It’s $1.99 on Google Play, so go check it out.

    I’ve made $64,000
so far this year working online and I’m a full time student. Im using an
online business opportunity I heard about and I’ve made such great money.
It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it.
    Heres what I do,www.jobs34.ℂom

We called them “finger skates” in 1986. They came on keychains and we’d take them off, and put grip tape on them, and build “skate parks” ourselves. But you know, this is cool too …

In 87; we would cut the card board covers use erasers and paper clips for trucks and wheels glued to the board, to make our own finger boards with art work and grip tape.

        In 86 I was swimmin around in a vagina…

  • Joe

    Costs money? No thanks.

  • Adam Medina

Just bought this game. It’s a joke compared to touchgrind on iOS. Maybe because I’m using a S4 instead of an iPhone 5.

  • Tim Buchanan

Best skating game available on Android. At least as good as (probably better than) Touchgrind for iOS. It’s a lot of fun.

  • S.Ober

I bought it after that video too, lol

  • Fozzybare

yeah tim, it was for halo 2.0 for aospa. not for portal.

  • nick

Does not work on Droid DNA,,,

    • fauxshizzl

Oh snap. Just saw this post and was just about to get it. Thanks for reporting back.

  • Eric

So basically Touch Grind from iOS but with more parks.

    • Adam Medina

      Also $.99 per extra park.

      • Eric

        Better than only one park.

  • Tweekex

Just bought this last night, good fun!

  • RoadsterHD1

Why is the mobile version of the site not available anymore?

  • nexus5

That was when you wrote up HALO 2.0 for PA. Not Portal for CM just throwin it out there lol

    • TheDrizzle

I came here to say the same thing lol. I was confused.

    • You guys are on top of stuff today. Bossy.

  • Ryan Ropero

You can buy the game for $1.99 but then each new skate park is $.99.

    • EvanTheGamer

Which is complete and utter horse manure. Why not just make us pay $4.99 for everything rather than make everyone deal with IAP non-sense? Oh right, greedy devs, that’s right, almost forgot. lol

      • Ryan Ropero

Or make the game free and you can buy or earn the extra level.
Its freaking bull if you have to purchase DLC to beat the game. Unfortunately more and more games are going that way.

        • EvanTheGamer

And that’s just the world we live in now.

I miss the old world though where everything was included when you purchase any game(like 80s, 90s, early 2000s). Oh well.

    • Adam Medina

WOW. Must be an EA game.

      • Ryan Ropero

        You would think so.
EA will probably buy them and then forget about them. R.I.P Rareware, Westwood, Maxis . . .

  • Justin Kos

I bought the game yesterday after reading the article, I love it! I recommend to anyone

  • EvanTheGamer

I’ll be picking up this game based on the fact that it’s from the creators who brought us the fantastic stunt driving game “Jet Car Stunts”!

However, it sucks that you have to fork out more money if you want the additional content(unlocking all missions, slow-mo, etc). I’d rather pay $4.99 for everything instead of having to pay more money for more features. Ah well.

when catching a big fish, it’s always important to set the hook 🙂

I guess I blame zynga and their constant milking of invested time.

    • TheCheapGamer

Haven’t even tried it and already instantly ruined for me.
It’s not even the $.99 norm, but $2 and they still have IAP? Greedy.

Apps should be one of two ways (to me at least)
Buy it and own the whole thing.
Free to play, but does NOT require purchases to actually enjoy/beat the game.

Not the best business model by far, but best for the consumers.

      • EvanTheGamer

Yes, exactly right. IAP should honestly be COSMETIC ONLY(meaning more costumes, skateboards(in the case of True Skate), etc). They should ONLY change the look of whatever, but do not actually affect gameplay in any way. That’s the way it needs to seriously be. Shouldn’t give advantages or allow you to beat the game.

Unfortunately though, that will probably never happen. 🙁

        • ohshaith55

There’s one more way(my favorite, in fact). I love when a game is free and you get to play a pretty decent amount of the game and then you have to pay for the other like 85% of the game. So it’s a trial version with an iap for the full. This way there’s no more ‘lite’ versions of everything, which drives me nuts. The perfect example of this is Jazz: Trump’s Journey.

  • Adam Medina

I was wondering when someone was gonna rip off Touch Grind for iOS. Although it took em 4 years, better late than never.

    • adb

      Ron is that you?

      • Adam Medina

No. My next phone will be an android device. Just sold my iPhone 5 for $500 woo hoo! Too bad you fandroidboys will never experience the feeling of owning a phone for 11 months and selling it for that much!

  • Will P

Thanks, I couldn’t figure out what game that was

    • JDub

Really? Guess you didn’t read the comments from that article.

      • Will P

        no i didn’t

        • JDub

Always read the comments man. Sometimes they’re better than the stories.
