Verizon’s LG G2 Sign Up Page is Live

lg-g2

Registration to be notified when LG’s newest flagship device, the G2, goes live on Verizon is now up. The G2 boasts some insane specs, all of which are top tier and should make anyone feel secure in knowing that their device will be a powerhouse until their next upgrade. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, carries a gorgeous 5.2″ 1080p display, features a 13MP back-facing camera with OIS technology (anti-shake mumbo jumbo) and has an incredibly unique button layout that allows the device to be ultra thin.

Now, while you can sign up to be notified, there is still no set-in-stone date for the device’s launch onto Big Red. Once we know when that exactly is, we will let you know.

Is this your next?

Anybody notice that the date on the display is Thursday, October 3? I’d bet that’s going to be the release date.

  • sk8rat

I can handle one vzw logo on the back but not the 4g LTE and logo on the front. Really I you aren’t that special Verizon everybody else has 4g LTE. In my opinion they should just take away the Verizon words so its just the check mark (like at&t just puts the circle logo on their phones).

  • disqus_kn6AQXXYM5

I couldn’t care less about removable battery or SD slot. I do want to know if this phone will work on Verizon’s AWS spectrum. If not then no point in getting the phone. Might as well get an S4.

  • Hatyrei

Branding phone’s aside from the manufacturer’s brand should be illegal! Verizon doesn’t make this phones , they just sell it.

    • disqus_kn6AQXXYM5

Considering it will only work on Verizon why not brand it? Do you know how may non branded phones that get on on ebay that won’t work because it’s for another carrier than the buyer has and the buyer and seller are both too stupid to realize each carriers phone won’t work on the others?

Also why are you ashamed of your carrier? Who cares if it says Verizon? Also no one is looking at your phone and thinking “Oh look at Hatyrei, he’s a Verizon customer. I can tell by his phone. What a tool. let’s pick on him”. This scenario happens ZERO times.

  • td01

Im stoked for this phone, but it is disappointing that theres no sd card. Even though most may not care, but the thing thats drawing me to this is the 24 bit sound, as the most use i get from my phone is when im at work and using it as a music player. Lossless flac files and wavs, which from what i understand are the only files that play in 24 bit sound, are usually about 50megs per song, so a typical cd is around 600megs to a gig of space. If we spring for the 32gig version, with only 24 usable, it wont take more than a couple apps, albums, and maybe a video or 2 before its chalk full…

  • pookietookie

So what do people think is the likelihood that this phone will get rooted and/or bootloader unlocked? I could stand to use this phone if I could wipe out some of the crap that’s installed. AOKP on here would be even better…

  • TommyKnockers

Is it just me or is this Verizon version of the G2 have a smaller volume rocker on the back?

The VZ branding doesn’t bother me as much since I’d probably put some type of cover over it…now I just have to find one that won’t interfere with the wireless charging.

    • sauce

yeah i believe this is my next phone especially with built in wireless charging since i dont like cases. I also noticed the back buttons are smaller and different, they dont seem to have the plastic edges to protect from presses, maybe they tougher aka metal. As long as the power button is protected when i put my phone down im ok.

I honestly just hope down the road it can be unlocked and supported

  • jh123416

Also, I’ve narrowed down my next phone (current VZW GNexus owner) to either this LG G2 (if I can get past the Verizon logo at the top), the HTC One, or the Galaxy Note III

  • jh123416

Serious question: Is a non-removable batter THAT much of a big deal? I get the micro sd card stuff, though.

  • EatUrCrap

    Such an ugly phone…

    • EnX$$

its very beautiful phone Verizon made it ugly

  • Dave

Let’s build a sweet beast phone, make it look stupid, then put the volume rocker on the back….yeah, we’re LG biznitch!

  • Kurt Weber

    No 4k display? Pass

    • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

I would seriously hope that’s sarcasm.

      • Kurt Weber

        lol it for sure was

  • skubadoo

I would get this phone but I prefer the Verizon logos on the HTC One..

  • Mark

Why is the US/Int’l version of the LG G2 going to be locked down with no SD slot and no removable battery? Wait until the phone has a $200 bill to replace the internal battery in a couple of years. You wont be able to give the used phone away. Where is the memory??? About 18GB that is usuable? Where is the SD memory slot? Not a high end choice with 2 boneheaded design flaws.

  • roberthenderson

Nope. What do you do with a non removable battery if you’re out somewhere doing pictures video and gps all day and your battery dies? What happens if you happen to get a bad battery or it happens to wear out? Hope you have a fully synced backup phone cuz that puppy is getting shipped in for repair. Yeah, it might not happen, but I’m not chancing it, especially when the technology exists to waterproof phones with removable backs. Strike 1. I have 23 out of 96gb left (combined storage) on my Galaxy s3. I will never buy a phone with less than 32gb on board (96 total) and I would gladly pay for 64 – 128 gb internal. Strike 2. I absolutely hate on screen buttons in their current form. If someone would do a wave launcher or pie control style I could get on board with it. But these things are inefficient and ugly. Strike 3.

  • Victor

I think it is a great time to be a VZW customer. We have 4-5 different phones being released in the next 30 days, potentially. Each offering some different specs and usefulness. Branding on a VZW phone is going to always be there. Some phones will have more than others, but if the branding is going to stop you from getting either of these new phones, then maybe you should go back to the Moto Razr flip phone. Smartphones are big (4.7″+), carriers want any and everyone to see who they are. But if that stops you from getting a phone, then you might not want to buy any sneakers, polo shirts or jeans as well.

I am looking forward to finding a possible replacement for my Note 2. I love the phone, but I think 5″ phone is the sweet spot for me. I may go a little larger with this phone. However the HTC One may be the best next release on VZW.

  • sauce

What’s with the “exclusive” wireless charging, that’s new?

    • LionStone

Haha…my 9 mos old DNA, Nexus 7HD and mom-in-law’s HTC Windows Phone 8 will say, “no” :-)

    • Dominick White

yes, only the verizon model will have wireless charging..

  • Scott Huddleston

I wonder if LG copied the S4’s lag? lol

    • Me

LG UI is actually optimized and lags a lot less than Buttwiz.

  • David Narada Brown

they have all of their 2013 phones competing for the same sale. well thats except the GS4. they even pushed Moto X back because of their Droids release date. Just how much does verizon care about its customers? you cant have the phone you want till we (Verizon) gets ready. guess all we’re good for is our $.

  • EC8CH

    LG = Logo Grotesque

  • duke69111

While I am hoping for a Nexus 5 on Verizon, im not sure if the next nexus will be as powerful as this phone is with regards to specs.

  • Xavier Dyer

I’m with AT&T but I’m just happy for people on Verizon starving for a new phone not manufactured by Motorola 0_o

  • duke69111

I don’t mind the logos on the back or the small lg on the bottom, but why scrunch the logo at the top, so stupid.

    • roberthenderson

because Verizon is always tacky that’s why. I always imagine a bunch of fat old mafioso looking dudes sitting around saying “oh yeah that looks good, but how’s about we put another logo right here.”

  • Steve B

So where are the wild LG Nexus 5 rumors from last night DL?

    • Tyler Durden

      this ? http://androidcommunity.com/lg-nexus-5-rumors-surface-set-to-compete-with-nexus-4-pricing-20130813/

I like the sound of this “However, not all the specs will make it into the Nexus 5 if they want to keep the pricing the same. This rumor states we’ll still enjoy the 5.2-inch 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera, and countless other impressive features, but lose the 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. Instead aiming for something like the Snapdragon 600, which is fine, as well as moving the buttons back to the side of the device. The G2 buttons are all on the rear”

      • Steve B

I was asking where the DL post was. I figured it would be hot off the press first thing this morning.

  • jbdan

One positive: the rear logo is rather discrete :)

    • Steve B

      Ha!

  • Steve B

God damn you Verizon. WTF is with your ugly branding?

    • EC8CH

Brilliant… I hate screen protectors though.

      • Scott Huddleston

Your not installing them right. :)

        • EC8CH

          Pretty sure I am…

Never put one on, and I’ve never scratched a screen. Flawless Installation.

          • trixnkix637

I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be flawless victory.

          • Scott Huddleston

            Just joking

        • Butters619

I’ve tried pretty much every style screen protector besides the glass ones and none of them feel as good as the glass display.

    • mustbepbs

There were some that had “protectors” for the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 for the ghastly home button.

      • Tyler Durden

that became irrelevant fast. lots of whining for no reason

        • mustbepbs

          What a stupid comment.

          • Tyler Durden

because people whined about something that was only noticeable in pictures? Okay.

          • Steve B

Did you see the Note 2 in person? That home button was terribly ugly. Ruined the front of the phone.

          • Tyler Durden

I owned it for a while.

    • NexusPhan69

      Try X Gear.

    • michael arazan

Next time DL goes to an Event with Verizon, I hope they call out Verizon on their Hideous Logos and placements.

  • Joshua Bailey

Did Verizon have the G last year?

    • Steve B

      No.

      • Joshua Bailey

Didn’t think so. Holding out hope.

        • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

Here’s a reason to hope…Outside Android 1.0, Verizon has been the exclusive US launch carrier for every “Nexus” device that launched with a .0 Android version. The OG Droid was the Google reference device for Android 2.0, the Motorola Xoom for Android 3.0 and the Galaxy Nexus for Android 4.0. Now of course, the Xoom and the OG Droid weren’t called Nexus, but they were Nexus devices in everything but their names. They had unlocked/able bootloaders, updates direct from Google (after VZW testing/approval), stock Android with no OEM or carrier modifications, they were used by Google as reference hardware for developing a particular version of Android, etc,

So…assuming the next Nexus phone launches with Android 5.0 and not 4.4 or something, maybe…just maybe…you’ll see it on Verizon. Just a thought.

          • Steve B

Focus Shawn, focus! Where the hell did that come from?

          • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

Dude, I live and breathe Google-maintained and updated ROMs for Android devices. I maintain a website archive of all of them from the OG Droid onward for the XDA community. http://randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware.

          • Steve B

Nevermind, he changed his original comment…

          • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

I was responding to the guy above who said he was holding out hope for a new Nexus on Verizon. I was giving him a little hope. Yeah, off topic, fine. But what Droid Life post ever has comments that stay 100% on topic? hahahahahaha

          • Steve B

Yeah, i see that now. He originally said just “G” so I was assuming he was referring to the Optimus G…since this thread is about the new LG phone.

          • Michael Harrison

They just released JB MR2, they are NOT going to release KLP with the new Nexus. If they do…somebody needs to be fired for the waste of money put into MR2 development.

          • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

Well it’s logical to expect Google to release the new Nexus phone in the fall as they always do. Google does not release Nexus devices unless there is a new version of Android to go along with it. So either we’re going to see Jelly Bean MR3 or it’s going to be Key Lime Pie. My money is on KLP.

          • Michael Harrison

And with the exceptions of Honeycomb MR1 (really needed) and Donut to Eclair, they have been on a pretty consistent 6 month average between new API Levels. Which would point to new Nexus either releasing on 4.3 and upgrading, or push to a Winter release. Regardless, the push of API Level 18 occurred at a very strange timing. If there is a fall release of KLP (lord only knows if 4.x or 5.x, as 4.3 kinda screwed up that trend also) then 4.3 was a really meaningless move completely from Google, other than some half assed attempt to push something out before iOS 7 drop.

          • http://randomphantasmagoria.com/ Shawn

Actually, I would more argue that 4.3 only exists so that Google had a “new version of Android” to help sell the 2nd generation Nexus 7.

          • Steve B

I would agree with this fully, plus they wanted to fix Bluetooth badly.

I’d count on KLP coming with the Nexus 5 in mid November. Google is due for a major OS update and I doubt they would go past the one year mark for JB.

  • Shane Redman

Hey guys, did you know that Verizon’s phone will be from Verizon and will have 4G LTE capabilities? If not, there’s a reminder…

    • Tyler Durden

Guaranteed nobody notices after a while.

      • Robert Macri

The ones on back, I can careless about… the front one is ugly. But that said its still a toss up between this and the MAXX

      • EC8CH

        Forehead branding is:

        • Blue Sun

          & crooked

  • Chase Chick

Too bad their UI is a rip off of Samsung, which is the worst of the bunch. If you’re going to rip something off, why not the Nexus???

    • Jordan Webb

It’s not just a ripoff, it’s a bad ripoff. I mean, a worse TouchWiz with no updates? I’d rather get an S4, and that’s saying something.

    • Robert Macri

I’ll take touchwiz over sense any day…

    • http://www.vinsonimages.com yamaha83

ya i would really consider this phone if not for the ugly as hell UI

  • T4rd

Some action really needs to be taken against this gross branding of their phones. That logo at the top is just ridiculous looking, it’s not even centered and looks totally out of place. I guess LG refused to take their logo off the bottom.

    • geedee82

“Just put a case on it bro!”

I’m so f*ckin sick of hearing that.

      • Tyler Durden

Or you know….drop it and break it. SOL after that.

        • Steve B

Actually this could work out pretty well. Break the screen and replace the screen with an un-branded one.

          • Tyler Durden

And spend $300 to do that? Right.

          • Steve B

            haha, i know

          • Tyler Durden

I wouldn’t be surprised if people were that stupid though.

    • Justin W

I don’t get why LG had to put a logo on the front when both HTC and Moto got to skip the front logo. I don’t think LG has as much pull with the carriers (rather, with Verizon) than Moto does, but HTC doesn’t really have much pull either..

      • Butters619

You should have been a little more clear. Obviously what you mean was the new Droids, X-Phone, and One on Verizon do not have a Verizon logo on the front. But it reads kind of funny

        • Justin W

Oops. Clarified so people know I meant *Verizon’s* logo, not manufacturer’s logo.

    • Bigwavedave25

Pray those logos are not under the glass… then just take care if it with some careful rubbing ;)

    • ramifications

It seems to me like it could be an old render as the rear buttons and camera lens shape do not look at all like the version that was shown last week.

      Anyone know more about this?

  • viewthis66

it’s either this or the note 3.

    • T4rd

Note 3. LG will forget about this phone next year. Plus their skin is probably the worst on the market.

      • Sir Grinklestien

Everyone forgets about all their phones the next year. Whats your point?

        • T4rd

          Except they don’t. Samsung’s and Moto’s 2 year old phones are on Jellybean. LG’s phone’s aren’t.

          • Ryan

Except they do when it’s on Verizon’s network.

          • T4rd

The original Spectrum is on JB? The Bionic, Razr and GS2 (outside of Verizon) are.

    • RaptorOO7

I am waiting to hear what the Note 3 will have on Verizon. If we get stuck with 16GB again then forget about it. My GS4 is doing fine, but I would like the next flagship, of course the fact that Samsung didn’t put out 4.2.2 on the GN2 at all and may or may not go directly to 4.3 sometime later on GN2 is a concern about support.

      • T4rd

Why would it matter if there was only a 16GB version if they allow you to install apps to the SD card? 80GBs isn’t enough for you?
