The Droid Life Show: Episode 32

dl logo show2

Welcome back, everyone. It’s time for the Droid Life Show episode 32! With this being our first formal show in what feels like an entire month, we have a lot to cover. The Moto X, now that I’ve had it in hand for a couple of weeks, will be discussed again at length. But beyond that, we have new DROIDs to weigh in on (that should be arriving any day for our poking and prodding), a Galaxy Note 3 event on the horizon, Tim’s take on the LG G2 event, Ron’s iOS vs. Android debates, HTC’s new Robert Downey Jr. campaign, Verizon’s missing HTC One, and so much more. It’ll be a packed event – you shouldn’t miss this one.

The show kicks off around 6:00PM Pacific (9:00PM Eastern). A live video broadcast and chat are embedded below.

Waiting for the Note 3, hoping this G-Nex in my hand doesn’t bleed out and die before that. (It took 20 minutes to write this comment)

  • juancarlos ramirez

why cant I watch the video? 🙁

  • Cody

    Download Link?

  • Tim242

I see you guys conveniently left off the Ron topic from the show. He just can’t be taken seriously anymore.

    • Ej McCarty

was he ever? all he does is agree with everyone without any intelligent input.

was he ever? all he does is agree with everyone without any intelligent input.

      • Tim242

        I agree. I guess I just didn’t really care before : /

    • Why so serious?

      • MacNificent

I totally hate i*hones but i think you’re great! You add that extra information that android site needs.I feel that you keep the site and its readers from being too fanboy/fangirlish. keep the opinions and or whatever you feel coming.
AND I will definitely be getting the next i*hone lol

      • Droidzilla

A little fight in you; I like that.

      • Tim242

I’m sure you are a nice guy. I don’t even care that you use an iPhone as your daily driver. This is an “intense Android” community. You should at least have a current Android phone, to make your experiences and opinions relevant. You make negative comments about Android, by judging it on 3-4 y/o devices. Your opinion is your prerogative,. However, the article you wrote was waaaaaaaay out of place here. It’s comparable to working at the New York Times, and writing a piece there about how you prefer what the Post offers instead. I work at Sprint, but use Verizon. Do you think I’m able to tell my customers that I prefer Verizon? How would they trust my opinion of Sprint, if I said that I chose Verizon for a list of reasons, but they should choose Sprint? It’s called conflict of interest, and you should be aware of that. If you are not going to use and review current Android products, then why are you here? What do you have to offer?

        • I do review current Android products as much as I possibly can. My opinion is not based on 3-4 year old devices. The most recent device I spent extensive time with was the GS3, which is now a year old. I’ll continue to spend hours of my free time outside of my main job and other obligations to write articles and review devices. As soon as I can spend time with more recent devices I will so that people can still complain that they don’t care what I think. It’s a great gig.

          • Tim242

Spending time with a phone and using it as a daily driver are two different things. I’ve owned many HTC and Samsung devices over the years. I have spent time with Moto and even the iPhone. While I know they didn’t work for me, I’m not judging the OS as a whole based on them. I tried that awful RAZR for a week, and hated it. I ended up exchanging it for the Gnex. I would not judge every Moto phone, or Android, based on the RAZR. The main point is this. If you told every customer that you think FedEx is a better service, would UPS be happy with you? Would you still have a job?

          • I spent months with them, which is more than most people spend with review units (usually about a week or two if they’re very lucky).

  • DJyoSNOW

I had an epic experience. I called a head for the Powerbeats. Was miss quoted and found out they did not have them in stock as quoted. My friend who had to wait 20 min. was there as I sailed on through. I’m assuming vzw reps make commission. The check in guy came off as a huge douche bag.

  • Jonathan Gonzalez

Am I the only one having trouble watching the show?

    • juancarlos ramirez

I click play and it goes straight to finished…wtf!

  • sski66

The “”G2 is really cool man”, Tim, looks like a a plastic fantastic, another g4. he was being totally condensending when he was talking about the Moto X, without even reviewing one, I really don’t like that.

    • What do you mean by condescending?

      • EdubE24

Tim can we get the video fixed? It doesn’t play for me, it just goes straight to the end!!

      • sski66

Just go back & look @ the video, you were probably doing it without even knowing it. Wow BIG difference in attitude after you actually got to play around with one…

  • Brady Wassam

Ron you suck! Kellex, fire him!

    • Was Sam Brady?

Kellex, ban Brady from posting anymore comments.

  • FreedomCostsPlenty

As soon as a Nexus has OIS Tim will be sucking on it.

    • Steve B

      What the hell is OIS?

      • Alexander Garcia

        Optical Image Stabilization

        • Steve B

Oh, is that the feature LG showed off on the G2?

          • Alexander Garcia

Yeah it’s the feature that captures moving objects while minimizing blur. Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and Motorola with their Moto X have all been touting this recently.

  • thebigmann

After hearing the Moto X camera is even worse than originally thought, I’m officially passing. Motorola really needs to step up their camera game.

    • atcchris

      GO HOKIES!

      • Azn_Android

        Hokies suck. Go Hoos! 🙂

  • None

Is that a hickey on Tim’s neck ?

  • FreedomCostsPlenty

Question? If Motorola were not owned by Google would you guys be so gaga over the Moto X? Does Android 4.3 even utilize more than 2 cores? If not then Moto X is running 1.5ghz Krait 300 cores, meaning performance should be similar to a One and better than an S4 with all it’s acme software kluges.

  • Roguefort

i am trying to Decide between the GS4 or Moto X but different reasons for both. i love stock android but also want a good camera so i dont know what i want more right now.

    • Delta_46

I’m in the same exact position. On Verizon.

    • Tim242

The GS4 camera is best on the market. The pictures are so vivid and clear. I just printed vacation pics at Walmart. I could not believe how well they came out. Better than a point and shoot, by far.

      • Crysmic

How is the Fluidity on the S4?

        • Mike

I’ve had zero issues with lag/jank on my GS4 only thing I’ve done is install Nova launcher

        • Steve B

You can’t go wrong with the S4, even with Touchjizz. One of the two best phones on the market, the other being the Oppo 5.

      • Droidzilla

GS4 has a nice camera to be sure, but I would love to have one of those Nokia shooters on an Android device. Throw a Zeiss lens with a Xenon flash into a Nexus and I’m in heaven.

    • C C

I’ve heard that Motorola has already produced a fix for the camera problems on the review units. Not sure if its true or not, but maybe DL can confirm …. even better, get their hands on a Moto X with the fix and test it out

  • SprintSucksDonkeyBalls

This is off topic, but I just had the most terrible customer service experience at Sprint STAY AWAY FROM SPRINT, THEY ARE UTTER PIECES OF SH*T!!!!! LOOK AT MY USERNAME! It’s the truth.

Just doing my part here to protect the world from the utter garbage heap that is Sprint.
