Verizon Confirms Plans to Carry LG G2, Posts First Picture of the Device With 3 VZW Logos

verizon lg g2

This afternoon, Verizon confirmed their plans to carry the freshly announced LG G2. LG mentioned during a press event today, that they would push their new flagship out to the four major U.S. carriers, but we were still waiting for Big Red to officially acknowledge that they were a part of those plans. Thanks to Twitter, they have gone ahead and stated their intentions, while also showing a press image of their specific variant of the phone. As you can tell, LG did not have the same kind of pull as Motorola did with the Moto X when it came to branding. We’ve got two LG logos and three Verizon-related marks. Woof.

All they would announce for today is that the device is “coming soon.”

If you were looking for an AT&T confirmation as well, you can stop by this page and sign-up to be notified of availability.

Cheers @volman1980!

  • joejoe5709

Don’t care. This phone is only useful as a Nexus anyway.

  • milanyc

I guess Verizon Wireless is competing with Nascar for the highest possible amount of ads per product. Not only that device has two back logos, but I have to be reminded while using my phone that my network hasn’t changed since I picked up my phone… WTF?!

  • Jaxon Wright

I’m perfectly fine with it on the back, but on the front (especiially there). COME ON

  • dannyWHITE

TOO many logos on such a beautiful device!

  • radiohead14

    this is absolutely disgusting.

  • richkoos

I wonder if the choir boy ringtones will have Verizon branding on them too

  • Gnex

Why does this Galaxy S4 have buttons on the back? Oh, nevermind…

  • Bob G

I’d get an AT&T version just because it is less ugly. You suck Verizon!

  • trd105

    This is getting ridiculous verizon.

  • EnX$$

LG and Samsung need to hire HTC for modern clean UI and Design Help. they both need a make over.

  • Render

This is very odd because the icons are skinned differently than the LG G2 that was shown off, looks very stock…the date also says October 3. Could this instead be the Nexus 5 or GPE of the G2?

The app launchers also appear to be on the lockscreen…very strange indeed.

  • Steve Swall

You know what this needs? A nice 1080 HD Verizon Wireless wallpaper!

    • EnX$$

good one and Verizon ringtone 🙂

      • Steve Swall

Yes! And maybe a “Can you hear me now?” Notification sound.

  • Big_EZ

The logos are there to remind us where all our money went.

  • Elwin Gill

I guess I don’t understand the whole problem… I had to take a look at my RAZR MAXX HD to even notice the logos… It has never been an issue. The G2 looks great and with a nice case, none of the back logos are seen anyway. The front logos are clean. The S4 has Samsung boldly across the front and if I’m not mistaken, the verizon logo is on the button. Not a game changer.

    • OrangeCrush

Verizon S4 just has the Samsung logo on the front. No VZW anywhere to be found on the device if you have a case on it.

  • Guest

    LG sucks

  • MafiaMM

I would be fine with the ones on the back but that on the front? Just no…It looks smudged in there

  • onlygoodtime88

wtf why the need for front logo and 4GLTE on the back stupid Verizon logo is enough.

  • ßen Murphy

    Lest you forget!

  • onlygoodtime88

the LG G2 is better than the s4 in many Areas but what LG needs is more
clean UI like stock Android or HTC sense 5 and also they need to
guarantee there customers they will update there phones on time and for
few years then i’m sure everyone will buy LG Again. another solution for
LG is to only make Google Edition phones this will solve all there

    • bowlzdeep

HTC Sense and stock Android couldn’t be more different.

  • me

Take note Samung (pun intended)…this is how the front of a phone should look. No hardware buttons. Just beautiful screen.

I have a Note 2 and will getting the Note 3, but their hardware nav buttons should not be there.

    • Destroythanet

Agreed. A future Galaxy Note with no more physical buttons would be my #1 choice of phone without a doubt.

  • greyhulk

Verizon: Confusing Smartphones with Stock Cars for several years now.

    • Geoffrey Gunter

Verizon- Never letting you forget who owns you.

  • kevintufts

I think those logo’s really are a deal breaker for me.

  • jmasterj

Ignoring the logos, it’s not even the same exterior – the buttons/camera on the back are different, and the back definitely looks like the spectrum and not the int’l G2. Boo Verizon.

  • Bryan

And yet no confirmation from Verizon on the Moto X yet?

  • Ian

I wonder if they’ll subsidize my purchase for all of the advertising I’ll be doing for them.

  • BrianLipp

and people were bitching about the Moto X having some logos on the back…

  • EC8CH

    Bigger Joke:

    Note 2 VZW button

    G2 forehead tattoo?

    • T4rd

I’d say the G2 is worse. It’s off-center and in the smallest part of the bezel and looks totally out of place. It really looks like someone made this as a joke.

      • EC8CH

it’s like the OG’s chin tattoo only worse.

    • TuckandRoll84

      Forehead tattoo?

I guess the G2 just became the Mike Tyson of phones.

  • IcerC

Yeah it wouldn’t be as bad if there logo was actually any good. And what does OLG stand for?

  • SmokeNMirrors

I’ll make sure to wrap it in a full-body case. Logos be gone!

  • Ashish Raj

Verizon, Could you please put a watermark of your logo on every pic that’s taken from this phone???? Puuhhlleeeezz..

  • Anonymous

Can I get a Verizon logo laser etched into the display part? Maybe right in the middle, like a watermark, actually, just make it completely block anything behind it.

  • Dave S.

I already wasn’t planning on getting this phone…but this cements it. Yikes.

  • blix247

  • MikeSaver

Glad Verizon decided to ugly up this pretty phone… God.. I need to just switch carriers and be done with it

    • terry12s

The only reason I’m still on Verizon is because of unlimited data

  • Apostrafee

I’m actually not as interested in this anymore

    • terry12s

Same here, I was interested but not anymore!

    • duoexo

This ruined it for me. I’m back to deciding between the MotoX and HTC One. Hopefully they don’t ugly up the One.

      • middlehead

If a logo would stop you from buying a phone you need more problems in your life.

        • duoexo

Well after having the Rezound then going to the Gnex. I’ve been spoiled and started judging a book by its cover. Sue me for having preferences.

          • middlehead

Where should I send the papers? Do you have counsel retained or should I have them served to you directly?

      • Nathaniel_Graham

Just put a carbon fiber skin or a case on it if the logos are an issue…

      • ImmaDroid

They are all going to have the same logo’s on them. That’s Verizons logo, which will be on all Verizon phones. It’s on the back of my GS4 and I never even see it. Atleast with the G2 & S4 you can change the battery cover if you really cant stand it

    • woodraskam

Is the logo really enough for you to rule it out?

I’m seriously curious if that’s a deal breaker to folks.

      • Apostrafee

Nah man it’s not THAT big of a deal, just not AS interested as I stated. The edge to edge is nice and minimal carrier branding but that Verizon LTE logo is awful…though it also may just be because I work for them and see the logo all freakin day

      • EC8CH

        Deal B-B-B-B-B-Breaker!

      • Ray Gray

EBay will have battery covers for $2 I don’t know why people complain about this

      • ImmaDroid

I really don’t see it as a big deal at all. I would have a case on it anyways. Or buy a new battery cover if its really bothering someone. Wow great phone, but I’ll pass because there’s some logos on the back.. Darn!

      • Liderc

It is for me since it kills the style of the front. I look at the front of my Galaxy Nexus a lot and having a completely black slate has become very important to my viewing experience.

        • rutgersjaffo

You know who sucks? People who, when speaking about a frigging phone, say things like “important to my viewing experience.” Wow. Just…wow.

  • Adam Truelove

    5 logos in total. Ugh

  • BDH

There are too many logos on my brand new $600 phone. #firstworldproblems

    • Tyler Durden

My $40,000 car is plastic. #firstworldproblems

      • BDH

      • Futbolrunner

        That’s an expensive Saturn!

    • BDH

So I guess no one has a sense of humor?

  • Dave

    Good grief…

  • Richard Yarrell

Again the childish branding strikes. Verizon is a bunch of bitches asses always messing up handsets.

    • William Kister

They get signal in some areas that others won’t though and that is important.

      • aye_winchell

that is true of almost all carriers though, im a verizon customer sitting at work where i can not get a verizon signal, but can get an at&t one, go figure.

      • Higher_Ground

I guess it’s the logos that add to the reception!

    • Gnex

      Speaking of childish

    • squiddy20

      1. As I said all the other times you raised this “issue”, slap a cover/case on it (as most people do anyway), and most of the branding is gone from sight. Get over yourself.
      2. Try spelling things correctly before calling other people/things “childish”. “Bitches asses” makes no d*mn sense. Retard.

  • JonathonFlores

I’ll have some Verizon with a side of LG, thanks.

  • T4rd
    • Alton Purnell

LOL !! thats exactly how I felt when I saw all thise logos…SMH

      • EnX$$

i think Verizon has JLO or a 5 years old kid doing the logos placement

  • Tyler Durden

    Unnoticeable with that beautiful display.

    • EC8CH

      let me check….

nope I can still notice all 5 logos… especially the offcenter forehead tattoo.

      • Tyler Durden

        You’re trying too hard

  • Rafy286

Even the back somehow looks different than what LG announced today.

  • terry12s

Verizon just ruined the phone! Dangit!

  • XphoneTroll

Thanks Verizon, now we should expect this to be out end of the year? No thanks, I want my galaxy note 3…

    • The Narrator

At least the vzw logo on the home button can be covered by a sticker and still somewhat look presentable.

  • Kane Desousa

LOL I feel so bad for people on Verizon.

    • MJ04

the logos dont bother me in all honesty

      • Kane Desousa

I wouldn’t get it, heard you can scrape them off but ouch… Seems risky

Verizon phones are like nascar stock cars, big difference is those companies on the car pay the drivers, WE pay verizon

        • hoosiercub88

You can only scrape some off, like the logo on the bottom of the Droid Bionic, you could remove it easily, it was silk screened on the plastic. The Verizon home button on the Note II, it’s actually embedded into and under the button, so no.

I honestly thought the VZW branded home button was going to be a huge deal, as it turns out, its not. I often forget its even there sometimes. That said I don’t agree with it, but it’s part of what I have to deal with to have the most reliable coverage in the US.

          • M3D1T8R

            “Often sometimes”.

    • middlehead

If a logo would stop you from buying a phone, you need more problems in your life.

      • Kane Desousa

Please, give me some of your ‘problems’ ha

    • Destroythanet

Yeah, I feel bad to be on Verizon. Oh, except when I go WAY over the GB limit that all other carriers throttle at and I just keep on going lol.

      • hoosiercub88

Or when none of my friends on AT&T or T-Mobile have service, but I do.. i feel awful.

    • ImmaDroid

Who cares about a damn logo, most cover it with a case anyways. Yea Verizon is a pain in the but with their logos and bloatware, etc. But having stellar service all the time, $20 unlimited data, and 4G speeds as high as 70+Mbps from my bed, I’d say that’s pretty damn good. Let me switch to T-Mobile to have one logo and horrible service.. no thanks. If its that big on an issue, someone can buy a new battery cover for $10 online, and bye bye logo’s

      • Your unlimited only costs you $20? Darn it, mine is $25 with a corporate discount too.

        • M3D1T8R

Dang, I’m being robbed at the full $30.. Kinda true actually when you add in the cost of buying new phones unsubsidized. But with no other good coverage here it is still worth it, unfortunately.

        • ImmaDroid

Yea its $19.99. I’ve been getting a $10 off my data every month for the last 4yrs. So I can’t complain. Plus in my area Verizon’s service is great. I get crazy fast LTE at my house. Fastest I’ve ever seen

  • s23

damn, i guess lg shouldn’t trim the bezels that way the verizon logo actually looks like it would belong, not crammed in there like the note 2. U-G-L-Y

    • Joseph A. Yager

      “must…get…logo…on there!”

  • jaredgreenwald

when one logo just won’t cut it…?

  • Eric

NO. I didn’t even notice the one on the front. Ruined the phone for me. I just died a little bit inside.

  • emoney

this looks like one of those joke renders that people usually put on here

    • Thought the same thing at first.

So it’s legit?? The location of the front branding is asymmetrical. That is unusual for Verizon

        • Razma

thats cause LG took the prime real estate

    • Damaged Goods

Nothing says JOKE like the Verizon Tramp stamp on the back..

      Verizon logos = Damaged Goods

      • Kamesen

Seriously, why is with this checkmark Verizon crap still making the rounds? Are we still in the 90’s? Talk about overdue for a new company logo.

      • Razma

They should have made it bigger, theres too much boring emptiness left…
They should have made the logo:

        Now that’s a logo!

    • Stan Darsh

In all seriousness, is the 4G LTE logo still needed? LTE is becoming the norm now and I’m sure it isn’t the wow factor like it used to be…if it ever even was.

      • I think I need LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE LTE all over my device. Sometimes, I forget I have it.

        • EnX$$

        • EnX$$

you need an Verizon LTE ringtone

      • David Wanless

wait till the LTE Advanced logos start showing up 🙂

      • Mobile User

Are you kidding? I NEED LTE! That is what makes my device. I need high speed data — in this day and age….

        • EnX$$

he is talking about why you need the lte logo not the data

    • Gnex

      Update: Official press render

      • EnX$$

Verizon will make this happen in few years

      • This actually made me laugh, thanks!

      • No way Verizon would release this without adding a few more logos. Whuh…the logo is missing across the screen

        • michael arazan

Surprised Verizon doesn’t water mark the screen so you always see a clear logo when the screen is turned on.

Maybe I should delete that before giving them any ideas

        • LiterofCola

Funny thing is that Verizon’s own Droid brand doesn’t have this many logos plastered all over them.

      • Nathaniel Newman

ROFL You forgot the logos on the SIDE of the phone and TOP and Bottom and corners!

        • onlygoodtime88

      • Sporttster

Yea,room for freaking logos but not for a SD SLOT! Dirtbags!!!!

      • vagizon

You forgot the logo on the camera lens so its imprinted on all your pics.

      • M3D1T8R

        Actual LOL. Thanks!

      • Razma

damn i thought of doing the same exact thing, beat me to it, lol

      • Heatfan316

        Nice work.

    • pd240

I vaguely remember a comical press shot of the note 2 on Verizon that was full of ugly branding that we thought was a joke. We all known how that turned out. This phonr did look really good. Thanks Verizon… I guess I will wait for the nexus version.

    • Liderc

What I don’t understand is no one but the user ever sees the front of your device. It honestly makes zero sense to put logos on the front of a device. On the back, sure, makes great sense because as you hold it people will see it, but on the front is totally pointless.

      • Geoffrey Gunter

I thought the same thing, but I figured if you show a friend a video or an app or something cool about your phone (according to Verizon) they’ll see the logo on the front and be like, “Man, what a cool cellular device! Oh, wow! It’s provided by Verizon Wireless and their 4G network! I’m going to go get one of these today!” Whereas the branding on the back is more for people who walk by and catch a glimpse of the back.

      • Higher_Ground

Really, I don’t see the need for logos to begin with. Isn’t the design of the phone itself supposed to be unique enough for people to associate it with the accompanying marketing pitches?

    • jessica702

what Gary said I am in shock that any one can make $8889 in one month on the computer. have you seen this web link www.KEP2.com
