Several Moto X Custom Colors Apparently Photographed

Moto X

Today is turning into a day filled with Moto X news and of course, we love that. In details leaked on what we can expect from Motorola in terms of customization for the Moto X, it was said that Moto was going to offer plenty of custom colors for buyers to choose from. Thanks to French blog No Where Else, these images could be the first peek at what kind of neon goodness we can look forward to.

Pictured on top are two very bright green back shells, while down below we get some teal, red and purple hotness.

Coques-couleur-Moto-X

For some reason, I really want that green one. And purple. You know what, just give me the whole lot. What are you thinking? Are you liking these?

Via: No Where Else

  • Bessie Arino

Hmmm.. may get myself that green one xD

  • http://www.baldypal.com/ BaldyPal

    GIMME GREEN!

  • Bob G

Sony has just got competition for my choice for a PURPLE phone!!!

  • Bobby Wright

Hope im wrong, but I gotta bad feeling about this phone..

  • Ravi888

These are horrible.. like a childrens toy

  • http://gplusid.com/shiraz Shiraz Siddiqui

give me orange, or give me death

  • Geoff Johnson

Hopefully they’ll have some darker colors available, like gunmetal gray, dark silver, maroon/dark red, etc. I don’t want my phones looking like a Nokia!

  • 138

When it’s a plastic GS4, everyone bitches and moans. When its a plastic Motorola, not a peep is heard.

    • Albert Reyna

when i suggest they should give an option for metal like the htc one they all laughed and down voted me lol. But i still love moto :)

    • MicroNix

      Exactly

    • NexusMan

Because the Motorola phone is not out yet. And the specs/casings aren’t confirmed yet.

    • BrianLipp

where does it say they are plastic? they could just as easily be some kind of brushed metal or something. just because they have colors doesnt make them plastic. Besides, plastic isnt all bad. Like NexusMan said, the GNex plastic feels great and solid. And it looks good too. The GS4 plastic looks cheap and disgusting.

    • Mvrcel Lgt

glossy coating >< mat, Its not about Polycarbonat! I personally loved the One X mat plastic and also some sony rubberized versions. Samsung just overdid it with releasing every phone with the same glossy coating. The Gnex was totally okay.

  • Weber

I just want to be able to install my AOL disk on it. I need the internet. Colors aren’t a big deal.

  • I-Troll-U

I can deal with $200-$300 cheap plastic phones…

    $600+ not so much.

  • skyskioc

Snap on parts like a Smart Car ?

  • daslive

    Nike iD for Phones

  • Liderc

    No, ugly.

  • Guest

I really hope all this customization hype isn’t just colors, although i honestly can’t see what else it would be. hardware customization would be a logistical nightmare

  • Avery Dejuan Herron

Why the hell are they playing april fools jokes in july?

  • MicBib

From the picture of the green shells, you can basically confirm the X will have wireless charging. A Qi charging coil would fit perfectly in the indents on the shell.

  • Pedro

Now I know why the CEO wanted to keep his X Phone in his pocket.
    Another quarter of non-fail.

  • LiterofCola

I’ll take plain ol’ black, but hey…at least there’s options

  • tharealoc

Bugdroid green?! I kinda like it…but where is the DroidLife pink?

  • aQuickBit

Ok can someone leak a yellow colored one please? God I want a yellow phone…

  • loony2nz

“these look hot”? is that a the feminine perspective? And judging from the color selection, is this the target market?

    • Justin W

You’ve seen 4 colors of a rumored 16. Just wait until the others are seen… We know there’s a black one (it was shown off in the leak from Taiwan), and likely white, deeper shades of blue, probably an orange, etc.

      • loony2nz

yes, i’m hoping. otherwise i’m breaking out my graffiti spray can :)

  • Shane Redman

So is it safe to say we should be able to buy multiple backs for the phone?

  • needa

so umm… how are they going to engrave this? it looks pretty dad gum thin. edit: it looks a bit thicker an inch up from the bottom.

    • Trickie Tom

There has been no talk as to where it would be engraved.. I actually have a feeling the engraving may happen on the front of the phone, maybe in the glass?? Engraved plastic isnt that great, but on glass it would look awesome. But who knows, only time will tell.

      • raddacle

Do you honestly think they’re going to engrave the display?? If that were ever an actual option, I think Verizon would have been ALLL over that.

        • Trickie Tom

It would be something never seen and a crazy customization, so yes, I do.. :P

      • NexusMan

Actually, there has been talk…that was the latest “leak” today…that there will be multiple colors to choose from for both the body and the trim, engraving, and personalized wallpaper.

        • Trickie Tom

Are you effing dumb.. to quote myself.

“There has been no talk as to where it would be engraved..”

Obviously the info came out about the option to have them engraved. Learn to read b4 you post.

          • NexusMan

“Are you effing dumb..” Your spelling, sentence structure and use of punctuation are incorrect. Learn to write before you to tell someone to learn to read, moron.

  • Caleb Loop

interesting how it tapers down at the bottom into a wedge like shape

  • needa

meh, by the end of the day there will be nothing else to wonder.

  • violator702

Pastels? I think I just threw up in my mouth.

  • Elliot

Not a fan. I’m perfectly okay with the Henry Ford model: You can have any color you want, as long as it’s black.

    • Larizard

As long as they’re MATTE. I don’t care if it’s purple or pink or Weed Green. I just don’t want it shiny and cheap looking (like Samsung phones).

We’ve seen this phone leak in black before (by that Vietnamese dude). I’m sure a matte black one wouldn’t look too bad.

      • michael arazan

How about a clear back, personally, I’d bet Black and white

  • Blue Sun

/golf_clap Well played Motorola. Well played. Keep everyone bedazzled with your hand waiving, smoke & mirrors (Re: customization). Do you really think, coupled with outdated specs, is going to sell devices?

    • Suralin

If it’s a low enough price point, how could they not. You’re not their target.

      • Blue Sun

If Motorola really wanted to sell a boatload of devices, the Hero device should be released first. It’s working for Samsung. Let the very positive reviews of your Hero device push up sales of your mid & low range spec devices, not the other way around.

        • needa

according to moto… the hero will be released first. this… being the hero. sarge disagrees. dunno where he gets his info from. but going by what we know and have been told from the horse’s mouth, you are looking at it.

        • Alan Paone

Samsung serves to prove that consumers don’t care about anything. This will sell just fine.

  • master94

I’m hoping you can remove the back. Would be nice to switch back plates on the go. That and removable battery

    • needa

looks like a clip-on to me. lets just hope the battery is at the back. and free of glue and ribbon connectors.

      • OCSportsGeek

Yeah, I don’t see how these are different from the Nokia phones from the early part of the millenium. If they ARE removable, I see that whole cottage industry of mall kiosks with grumpy teenagers selling imported “custom cases” now with More Bling! coming back ’round again

        • Zacharypt

          Mall gypsies ftw

      • raddacle

My only concern would be the built-in wireless charging pushing up the cost for just a single back cover.

      • Eric

Looks like the samsung battery covers they way the clips are…

    • KOBALT

Even though I’m gonna cover it with a case. Since I won’t. Because I’m getting a real phone. Like a Note 3.

      • Joseph Pojunis

        Learn how to grammar.

  • stang6790

So after looking at these colors and the new Motorola logo with the colored circle, I think there will be twelve colors (plus black and white possibly) with each one represented in the circle. If you look at it, it likes all four of the colors are on there.

    • Trickie Tom

I agree, someone else posted that there are gunna be 16 colors, but maybe it will only be 14, the 12 in the logo plus black and white, seeing they arent in the logo.. Then who knows, if it is 16, maybe a gold and chrome also??? just a thought.

  • BRIM

    This is stupid.

I hope that all their time wasn’t focused on “ohhh hot pink is a cool color we should offer.”

Give me a superior made phone with a unique profile and astounding materials.

    • Alan Paone

      Astounding, PINK materials

    • NexusMan

Dennis Woodside already stated what their time was focussed on…quite a while back…so no, it wasn’t on “hot pink.”

  • Blue Sun

Mutagen Green? I like it. I’m not a fan of that shade of blue, or purple. Nor do I prefer the hawt pink case.

  • Michael Bassett

Ugh, at work we’re stuck with the Razr HD Maxx and with EOL closing in I am in charge of looking for a replacement phone. How do I sell to the people in charge this phone? Look at the colors! wow!

Maybe I’ll wait for the ULTRA or Moto Nexus, But the GS4 is looking great as it has Govt. level encryption.

  • Tyler Durden

    Green matches my weed.. niiiiice

    • Jack Hoffman

If your weed looks like that, I don’t like your odds of procreating…

      • Tyler Durden

I wasn’t referring to the actual color. Just a green/green similarity. Sizzle down brotha

    • Pedro

      Hmm. Tyler smokes dope.
I think that explains a good number of his posts.

      • Tyler Durden

Weed is not dope. But it looks like you’re a blind sheep.

  • Sarge

    We’re getting warmer.

    • justin

5inch hero specs and price please?

    • Guest

      Pretty sure this is Bionic.

      • Sarge

Hey now. Don’t soil my name. There are various contacts I have and it appears that he is one of them. I have no control over how he twists tips and suggestions.

        • false

know how I know this isn’t sarge? He never capitalizes his words, uses punctuation, a few other things that I don’t want to point out to you ;)

          • Trickie Tom

Could be on a mobile that is doing that for him.. Often I dont use punctuation as you may see here, but when Im on my phone, it does it for me, and I let it happen.. So sorry thats not a great point. :P

    • Bionic

      Stop pretending to be sarge

    • nvitone23

you aren’t Sarge…don’t try to act like you are…

  • Will

Are we going to get the ability to replace them as consumers like the old Nokia 5110 series phones from yesteryear? If so, and if the “experience” is smooth enough, count me in.

  • Albert Reyna

Released date has to be close!

  • Jesse Blacklock

i think if this is the best thing about the moto x, i see a lot of people overreacting…

    • MicroNix

Especially after all of the bashing people here do on Samsung about the plastic backs….that look just like these.

      • Sean Royce

The difference is the feel of the plastic. Matte feels a lot better then Samsung’s glossy back.

  • NAM37

I hope the front plate is the same color and not just black or white…

    • http://us.playstation.com/ps4 Mark Cerny

Assuming it having on screen buttons, it will obviously be black.

    • Trickie Tom

Engadget is reporting per ABC News :

“Customers will be able to select colors for both the back panel and the smartphone’s side trim”

So my guess is the front piece will just be a rim that clips into the back holding it to the phone..

  • Michael

Plastic? No thanks! Motorola you’re already disappointing me

    • Albert Reyna

I know right! Should of gone the htc one way!

      • Tyler Durden

Oh right. Let’s go with something less durable and non replaceable.

        • Albert Reyna

i don’t mind, no matter how much of a spaz i am

        • Alan Paone

Plastic is more durable than metal? are you high?

          • Tyler Durden

Yes. Get a scratch? Good luck with metal. Dent it? Good luck fixing that. Stuck with a crappy battery? Good luck replacing that. Get your phone wet? Good luck opening it and drying it out.

          • Alan Paone

Look at it wrong? Oh now it scratched. Keep your phone in a pocket? Scratches! Everywhere! Drop it on the carpet? scuffs on all four corners! Have hands? Hope you love the feeling of slimy slippery BS. Had it for more than a month? Its cracked now, it has character. Stuck with crappy quality control? thats cool you can replace the battery yourself with your own money, not that that would be a problem if the OEM actually cared enough to put a good battery in in the first place. Drop it in a pool? You are exactly as screwed as if the sensitive electronics were surrounded by any other material.

          • Tyler Durden

This guy lol. See kids. Drugs are bad. Mmkay

          • MacNificent

i totally disagree with you. the Bionic is still this day one of the best naked phones i have ever used and my girlfriend is using it as her daily driver today. and it barely has a scratch anywhere on it. Hello Moto (again)!!! this may be the comeback of the decade.

          • Trickie Tom

My Bionic has only 1 little scratch on it and its on the screen, and thats only cuz I almost dropped it in my firepit while I was drunk. It landed face down and skidded across the edge of the metal ring for my fire pit which was really really hot.. I didnt think twice and grabbed it before it actually fell in the fire itself.. Now if this was an iPhone the phone prob would have cracked on the front and back of the glass version, and the metal version may have been to hot to try and grab.. Im still shocked that thats the only way Ive gotten 1 little tiny scratch in this phone.. Ive drop’d it many other times b4 and have had it since launch.. I wanna upgrade to the Moto X, seeing Ive been very happy with every Moto phone Ive had, dating back to the T720.. But this Bionic is still kicking ass on a day to day basis, that I just cant justify replacing it yet.

          • MacNificent

Against what everyone believes and thinks. this or one of the phones coming from moto in the near future will be worth paying full price to keep unlimited if you stil have it. and the colors just give that extra flare. or you have the option to stay black. Ive been rocking moto since my silver timeport and my silver 2-way to match. Im on an s3 which I love. but some of its glitches and problems make me wanna go back to a solid long time running and great hardware device such as a motorola. And as I mentioned before… If its not this particular device. Moto will make you happy again in the near future.

    • VinyTaco

One person disappointed, a few hundred thousand more, excited.

  • DanWazz

Totally getting a green phone now.

  • jaybar

you know what, give me the pink one #yolo

I totally didn’t see that on 4chan a year ago.

  • TheRunner024

Does anyone know what the specs are?

    • Trickie Tom

No actual specs have been released, only rumor’d specs from months ago.

  • MK17

    I’ll take graphite or black

  • Keith

Finally, a leaked pic without a gaussian blur applied… and it’s a damn back plate.

  • http://us.playstation.com/ps4 Mark Cerny

Front and back shell? They’re both the back -_-

C’mon Tim, get your act together here man! :P

          • michael arazan

Great writing, short and to the point, just knocked out every DL article all in 10 minutes

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Surprised you didn’t like the Droid Life pink one. Since the backplate is removable I guess we’ll be able to just buy them separately?

  • King Alexander

Its a great concept but I just can’t do the specs. I hope Motorola enters the “future” soon.

    • rutkowicz

Lol at a 720p screen in 2013. Motorola is stuck in the stone age. I could care less how many pastel phone cases they make. Looks like I’ll be upgrading to an HTC One when it launches on Verizon.

      • Suralin

Not everyone needs a hi-def phone that plays 1080p video. Seriously, the hype of these higher resolutions is so overblown it’s not even funny. 720p is well enough on a small screen such as this. Even more so, it’s a phone first and it’s a mid-range, affordable smartphone second. If they can sell this $250-$350 w/o contract, this could very well be a hot selling phone. And that’s what they need right now. They don’t need to pander to enthusiasts who wish to have the latest and greatest for the next 2 months.

      • Priorities

Battery life, usability, and price trump a gazillion pixels. Unless you are holding the phone within half a foot of your face you won’t see the difference anyway.

        • Trickie Tom

If I could +1 you more I would.. I forgot those details in my post.. Yes, most battery drain is due to the screen.. Bigger screen more drain, more pixels more drain.. Id take a few hours more battery life over 1080 on my phone any day.

      • Trickie Tom

on a screen the size of the avg smart phone, our eyes are not detaild enuf to see the dif between 720p and 1080p.. Even on a TV is hard to tell the dif between them.. You prob think everything you watch on your HD TV (if you have one) is all 1080 cuz thats what the TV says it is.. Truth being that most stations dont broadcast in 1080.. Like ESPN. They are a 720p channel.. Notta one does 1080p yet either only due to the fact there is nothing to gain in upgrading the expensive hardware they just had upgraded to.. Im fine w/ a 720p screen on a 5in phone.. Even 6in, I think Id be fine with it, now get up into the 7in range and 1080 just may be a tad crisper..

  • http://TransientTangent.com/ Blake Mitchell

I dig the colors. I just wish they would have experimented with different materials for the backs. However, that is too risky.

  • Alan Paone

    I’m hoping for orange

    • Green

      Same here. Go Broncos!
      Or, I’ll take green.

    • Sarge

      Hint. New Motorola logo.

      • http://www.youtube.com/kimirPORTALS kimir

        No aluminum then? Wuh, wuh.

        • Bob G

Because it hasn’t been leaked? Wah

        • Andrew Remmers

We don’t know the material, though it does look like plastic.

    • http://ubuntu-su.blogspot.com/ Kleverson Royther

Let us pick orange and get Ubuntu Touch in it!
