You’ll Soon be Able to Send Money to People Through Gmail

YouTube Preview Image

Have you ever thought about sending money to someone through a Gmail message? Even if you haven’t, you’ll soon be able to. Shortly after the Google I/O keynote today, the Gmail team announced Google Wallet integration into Gmail messages. In the coming months, as they rollout the service, you’ll be able to send cash to someone in an email thanks to Google Wallet.

Google Wallet is now integrated with Gmail, so you can quickly and securely send money to friends and family directly within Gmail — even if they don’t have a Gmail address. It’s free to send money if your bank account is linked to Google Wallet or using your Google Wallet Balance, and low fees apply to send money using your linked credit or debit card.

It’s like sending an attachment of cash to your friends. Kind of a neat idea that I had no idea I would ever need. Can’t wait to try it.

I already used the service, and it is FAST and EASY…. My good friend is on the Fiber Development team, and we wanted to test it out….I attached screens of my Gmail, and of my G-nex screen!

Money received INSTANTLY, and IMMEDIATELY transferred into my checking account…real time…and NO fees or strings…awesome!
    Wallet FTW!!

I already used the service today….one of my close friends is market development at Google, on the Fiber Team, and I had him send me $1, just to try it….it was so easy….
I attached screens shots from my G-nex, as well as from my Gmail inbox, so you can see….the money came instantly, and I was able to transfer it IMMEDIATELY into my checking account…no fees or strings attached!!
    FTW

Any that wants to send me $200 or any amount for that matter mine is chasehammer@gmail.com ;)

This is freaking awesome. Hope this means Wallet will gain the rumored debit type card as well as sync to an actual bank account similar to Paypal

Except if you’re with Verizon. You know, Verizon has been fighting off Wallet for 3 years now, with promises of Isis wallet, still nothing! Just let go Verizon! What’s they’re problem!?

This isn’t the same as the NFC Google Wallet app (I don’t think it is anyway). Google Wallet also refers to their payment system for the Play Store, so even us Verizon customers have that. I also have the Wallet app side loaded on my GNex but that’s another story.

Just what Nigerians need ,to steal more money from people.

no if only google would start a bank. #Fu(kwellsfargo

This might be a great way for me to ration app money to my children instead of buying them prepaid Google cards all the time.

I wonder how much support you’ll get if someone were to rip you off somehow? PayPal has buyer/seller insurance and will work with you if a transaction goes bad. Will my bank laugh if Google calls and tells them to give me my money back? I haven’t had an opportunity to use Google Wallet so I don’t know if there’s an answer to this sort of thing already, but lets face it, crap happens.

Basically beyond the Google Wallet protection they offer, they say your bank’s protection is a solid Plan B.

It will probably support using credit cards which I always use over bank accounts due to their superior fraud protection.

This will make Nigerian scammers happy….LoL.

I wouldn’t count any of them out yet. Especially Paypal. You can make mobile payments with them, but not Google

      for now

Paypal is primed for a competitor to come in and undercut them. It’s about damned time. They’re ubiquitous and easy, yes, but far too expensive.

Also paypal takes a while to give you your money, they like to sit on your money to gain interest on it for themselves

Looks like the camgirls are gonna have an even easier way to get my money.

I wonder if the only way to use the balance going to the Google Play Store lol. But really if it just deposits into your account that would be awesome!

Of course Verizon will block Gmail now since it uses Google Wallet.

    • Tim242
