Play Link

  • Sergio

    Explicit music ftw!

  • Jefferson Peak

I just get a server error every time I try to sign up for this..

  • duke69111

Did they get the explicit music upload issue fixed?

  • Eduardo

Has anyone found out how to cancel the service yet?

  • http://www.facebook.com/mlegat Mvrcel Lgt

As expected, US only =/ Hope it’s good guys, I wish I could test it.

    • http://twitter.com/ing_chamu Ubaldo Flores

I’m in Mexico, and I got the new google music update.

  • Jason Kahn

Absolutely love this new layout. If you swipe left and right in the player it changes the song playing. I like that. Anyone else notice the equalizer is really buried in the app, I can’t find a way to access it from the playing window.

  • Kane

Does the new Google Music “All Access” work with the Nexus Q? It would really suck if Google just transformed my Nexus Q from a music playing beast into a shot put.

    • cb

..i was a shot put out of the gate. .

  • cb

No IOS app (yet at least). I will need that to convince my wife to switch to Google as we share our streaming music subscription :/

  • smartguy05

Just cancelled my Spotify membership. Google don’t let me down!

  • possomcrast

I really love that it (All Access) takes your current library and includes songs that it can’t license. It also recommends and pre-creates radios based on your library.

  • http://www.facebook.com/allen.kowal Allen Kowal

I have a good 30+ GBs of music I uploaded to google play music in the past to stream to my phone when I stupidly dropped my zune in the toliet (kids this is why you dont pee and trash to slayer)

I’ve been streaming my music to my desktop and razr maxx ever since. I saw this today, subscribed and let me tell you…

    I’m in love.

Its the perfect fusion of pandora, iTunes, and spotify. I can easily stream anything I want (Im still on unlimited data on my phone) including bands that I didn’t own in the past. I’m not someone who complains about not technically owning my music, so this is freaking awesome. I’m loving the new UI as well.

Good job google. You’re a beast.

  • john

It sounds like a 5 dollars radio wrap in a blanket under 5 feet of water, and their priority is to revamp the UI.

  • possomcrast

This New UI is absolutely beautiful.

  • http://twitter.com/vdefender Taylor A.

    GS3 with CM10.1 RC2, Google music crashes immediately :( :(

    • possomcrast

I’m running the same exact thing and mine is running flawlessly.

    • Justin Winker

Try a restart and uninstall/reinstall Music… Good luck, you don’t know what you are missing :)

    • http://twitter.com/iamjonmiller Jonathan Miller

Same thing on my Nexus running the same build

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Emaw-Kennedy/504157652 Michael Emaw Kennedy

Menu button on the top right bugs me!

  • http://www.twitter.com/nblufire12 Nathan Patel

Needs quick scrolling on the ride side for those lengthy playlists

  • Kosma Bakier

I like the new ui but I wish they gave us the option to use a solid black theme.

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

Its inline with their new design language. That said, I guarantee an “inverted” version will be available in a couple days over on XDA that can be sideloaded.

  • http://twitter.com/turdbogls Turdbogls

I know this is probably going to get burried, but does anyone know if they will offer the “radio” streaming for free? similar to Pandroa/spsotify…I can use their services, listen to a few ads here and there, but it doesn’t cost me a thing. I want to use this, but I just dont listen to enough music to justify a month fee for something.

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

No plans for a free service at all as of right now according to “sources close to the matter”.

      • http://twitter.com/turdbogls Turdbogls

yeah, thats what i am seeing as well. this will probably be my most used app in the next month….but then back to pandora i go :(

    • Justin Winker

No, not at this time. It’s a good service even without having to pay for the All Access pass.

  • Detonation

Swipe to switch songs on the now playing screen or now playing bar
FINALLY. This is the one feature I needed, otherwise switching songs while driving took too much focus off the road to do (even with my phone docked on the dash). This requires no looking at all.

  • John Woodward

    Beautiful on Nexus 7!

  • NIGHTSCOUT

Finally a UI update, but I’m not liking the color scheme

  • DanWazz

Liking the new UI. Navigation seems better. It’ll suck if the Listen Now opt in keeps popping up.

  • radiohead14

anyone know if cache can be saved in external micro-sd?

  • DiegoKokomo

The music app crashes on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. Seems that I’m in the minority on this but I’m going to guess it’s account related since I’m crashing on both devices. Anyone have any ideas?

    • Mordecaidrake

Keeps crashing on my Razer HD too.

      • drebin

        crashing on mine too :(

    • antinorm

It crashes on my Nexus 7, but not my Galaxy Nexus (odd, since I build my ROM from source, so they’re running the exact same code). It’s an SQL exception. If you click Report when it crashes, then Preview, then scroll down and expand where it says Stack Trace, for some reason it’s generating an enormous query with a big string of SELECT-UNION ALL-SELECT-UNION ALL-SELECT-UNION ALL-…

“Too many terms in compound SELECT” is the error message. Not sure what, if anything, we can do about that.

  • http://profiles.google.com/booboolala2000 Patrick Crumpler

Looks and sounds great. Free month is awesome.

  • Clint

It’s still not completely seemless!!!!! And does anyone know the quality of streaming music? I still kind of like Spotify better.

    • Andy Christiansen

what do you mean by not seamless?

  • http://www.facebook.com/rene.barba.89 Rene Barba

    Wooo! Mariah Carey!

  • Mordecaidrake

So it keeps crashing on my Razer HD, anyone else?

    • http://www.facebook.com/amtrombley Anthony Trombley

Mine as well. Razr Maxx HD, stock non-rooted. clearing the data on the app didn’t work. Trying a re-install to see if it works. Dammit, I was really looking forward to this app

      • Mordecaidrake

Me too, I wanted to dump PowerAmp and Spotify :(

    • Evan Fleming

I’m getting the same here. Rooted VZW Note 2. :( This sucks, because I’ve REALLY been looking forward to the app’s overhaul.

      • Mordecaidrake

        You and me both man!

    • http://profiles.google.com/fparent Francois Parent

      crashes on my Nexus 4

    • Bryan F

stock rooted galaxy nexus, crashes on opening.

    • Jrock

That’s funny, my BIONIC is having no problems with it whatsoever :P

  • Hector Carmona Miranda

So if you can download the music to listen offline, like spotify, that is going to be the thing for me to change to google music.

    • http://www.facebook.com/archercc Ryan Stewart

I just clicked on a couple of albums that came up on explore (Rhianna and Jay Z) to test and it gave me the keep on device option.

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

You can. Add it to your library, and you get a “keep on my device” option.

      • LWC

I’m having issues with this. I find a track, add it to my library, and I don’t see the option. Anyone else?

  • AHawke

If you sign up for the new all access free trial, you can update the Google Music app on your phone or tablet to the new UI which is really nice, just like the new UI on the web version.

  • dvs

    Offline mode?

    • CyborgHobbit

Yep. You can download songs to listen to without a data connection.

      • Hector Carmona Miranda

you have to excuse my ignorance, but I didn’t find a way to do that, how you do it?

        • Mordecaidrake

Got to add it to your library first

          • Hector Carmona Miranda

thank you!!!! :D I guess it is going to be google music. haha!!

        • http://www.facebook.com/archercc Ryan Stewart

Next to any Album/Song there are 3 little squares in a row, that is the menu. Tap to bring up menu and select “Keep on device” and it will download it.

Its not an MP3 but a coded file within the app (of course this is going to be required by the record companies).

          • Hector Carmona Miranda

thank you!! this is awesome, and it is how spotify does it, you only can listen to the music you download in the app…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Williams/1220700062 Chris Williams

you cant download music to save data? that sucks!

    • CyborgHobbit

You can download any LISTEN NOW music after you add it to your library. The ADD TO LIBRARY button essentially gets replaced with the DOWNLOAD button after you click it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Williams/1220700062 Chris Williams

Thanks doing now, Super slow right now but its new!

  • Bigwavedave25

Oh man, I am really digging this new Music app! easily 500% better than the previous one.

Edit: Getting a “couldn’t prepare radio” error… anyone else get it to work?
Ahh, never mind. I had to pick a more “mainstream” band to get it to find a compatible set of artists to create a station. I guess my music is too Indie for this to be very useful to my tastes yet…

    • Chris Kampmann

I am getting that error on some random and rare radio stations, if I select a song within the album it sometimes goes away. Regardless, I am in absolute music heaven today, this is the greatest idea EVER!!!!

      • Bigwavedave25

Something else that “improved” my experience was to use the search function for find the rare artist’s google music page then hit the radio button from there. Worked perfectly once I started doing that. :)

    • http://twitter.com/evansdave Dave Evans

Decemberists…Jack White…Neil Young! All evidently too indie…or the radio simply does not work the way it should. Even going to the album, going to specific songs (like Rockin’ in the Free World”) and still get this message.

  • CyborgHobbit

Now if only they’d integrate podcast management so I wouldn’t need a separate downloader and/or player. I love Pocket Casts, but uninstalling MOG made me wish I could go even a step further.

  • sc4fpse

Come on, Google. Pick a design for your Play applications and stick with it. I’m tired of Google Music looking drastically different every few months. And orange? Come on. I liked my dark backgrounds, thank you very much. That being said, it’s nice to finally see Music getting some much-deserved TLC.

    • http://twitter.com/turdbogls Turdbogls

give it some time…people will tear into the app and give you a dark version. this new lighter version is sticking to their “card” view styling, and i for one LOVE it.

do not like the floating album art though.

    • bkosh84

They’ve changed it three times since debuting.. What are you talking about every few months?

  • Meikel Howell

I can’t use it I’m outside the us not even my VPN is helping

  • cjohn4043

Anyone know if they have all the major record labels for the streaming service?

    • http://www.facebook.com/archercc Ryan Stewart

      Top 3.

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

Top 3 at the least, likely many of the smaller ones as well.

  • Gus

There is a big gap on my dock where Spotify used to be.

The gap will make a good spot for Hangouts.

    • NexusPhan69

I voted up until I read the hangouts line. No SMS or Google talk = completely useless to me (and probably the masses that goggle needs for this to catch on)

      • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

I think you meant no Google Voice? Hangouts completely replaces GTalk.

    • PhoenixPath

Indeed. My Pandora icon is shaking in fear right now…

Wish the album-art would stop moving back and forth…that’s annoying as hell. Is this happening for anyone else or is it an HTC One issue??

Guy asks the pirate why he has a ship’s steering wheel sticking out of his trousers, to which the pirate replies:

      It’s driving me nuts!

      • wctaylor79

Same over on the S3.. seems to be what it does.. :/

        • PhoenixPath

On my Nexus 10, the album cover slides slowly back and forth.

I believe this is what it is supposed to do rather than the spastic “blinking” going on on my One.

It’s *really* annoying and I hope they fix it Real Soon Now™.

      • sc0rch3d

Cancelled my Pandora account as soon as i tried some random radio stations starting Oakenfold, A-Trak, and The Orb. If you can make good radio stations out of that (with music I haven’t heard yet)….you’re a-ok in my book.

      • Chris Kampmann

Shaking? mine has been deleted removed and pandora ONE is shut down. Thanks Google

      • Seth Schorr

The moving cover art is a part of the app.

        • PhoenixPath

Moving, yes (it slides on my Nexus 10), twitching like a spastic monkey? I can’t believe they would choose to do something like that. It’s distracting as hell.

  • Thomas

The new UI looks awesome !!

    • Larizard

      +1

  • Thomas

    Bye bye SiriusXM app

  • htowngtr

Already subscribed… Nice. Goodbye Spotify, Napster, and anyone else streaming music.

    • EL_BIG_CHRIS

This. I had cancelled spotify because they were missing music and they just wouldn’t add the notification controls. And Google music is cheaper. It’s a no brainer for music addicts

  • Shawn Bicknell

Would like to see genre radios added as well.

    • htowngtr

      They have thought, I thought….

    • PhoenixPath

Type in your Genre and year (Like “80′s Rock”), and pick a “greatest hits of the …” album.

      It’s a work-around, sure…but it’ll kinda sorta get you there.

  • Daniel Clifford

Woo!!! Was also hoping for a nicer looking Widget as well..

    • Christopher Hsu

I was looking for a bigger widget. Try “Plug In Music Widget” It doesn’t support album cover but it’s flexible in the button settings. Also since I’m using this on a tablet in a car the horizontal default Google Music widget buttons are way too small to be useful. With the “Plug In Music Widget” you can also use a “Drag Pad” so even when you are on the home screen you can swipe left or right to change tracks.

  • http://twitter.com/nedrudrelytmai Tyler Durden

This will finally put Pandora out of business.

    • Andy Christiansen

pandora is free. how can you even compare them?

      • http://twitter.com/nedrudrelytmai Tyler Durden

Obviously I’m talking about the paid version of Pandora.

        • PhoenixPath

Some people refuse to believe people actually *pay* for things on Android…

      • NexusPhan69

I had to stop using it recently after they limited the number of hours per month, further reduced the number of skips and greatly increased the ads. This timing is perfect for me.

      • Guest

        No ads.

    • Hothfox

It will give them a run for their money. It offers more services, but for those who only need Pandora’s set of services, you can’t beat free.

    • Raven

Who still uses Pandora? I switched to Slacker for streaming a long time ago.

  • http://thebeeobee.com/ thebeeobee

Yeah, i signed up. They can have my $7.99

  • Daniel Aceves

Why should I use this and cancel spotify?

    • http://twitter.com/Bhockey77 Court

Get the free month google offers and find out for yourself

    • http://twitter.com/nedrudrelytmai Tyler Durden

      Because google.

    • Hothfox

I like it because it’s one place for streaming music, generated radio stations, and my own music (via cloud or on my device). Plus, right now Spotify doesn’t take advantage of notification music controls or landscape mode. I’m going to go through the trial to see which I like better, but I think Google will win.

      • Christopher Hsu

Landscape mode. When you’re using spotify with a dock or on a car this is such a son of a monkey’s uncle.

    • CyborgHobbit

      Much better Android UI.

    • Royal Assassin

Try the month free trial and see. Plus if you like it and stick with it, it’s a couple bucks cheaper. Madness! Coincidentally, I’m listening to Madness right now by Deltron. Serendipity!

    • Christopher Hsu

I’ve been a paying member of spotify for a while now. You know as well as I that spotify has a great library. However, there are still missing tunes. With google you can load your own songs into your cloud library. So even if Google Music doesn’t have the song yet you can still enjoy it through their music app.

  • kOnEkT

How is this in comparison to Spotify?

    • http://twitter.com/Bhockey77 Court

They offer a free month so you can see for yourself. I don’t have spotify but am liking the free offer of what google has

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

The radio feature makes Spotify’s look like a joke, and the UI is much easier to navigate. Unfortunately it doesn’t connect to Facebook at all for social sharing if that’s your thing, and the sound quality is much more variable (no way to force higher quality streaming). That said, you have 30 days to try and see if it fits your life. Gogo.

      • Israel Gonzalez-Cruz

Yes you can force high quality streaming. Look in the settings. All Access uses the same music stream old Google play music used.

  • ReturnOfTheMack

New UI you say… (sees screenshots)

    HELL YES!!

  • Warwick

Updates. No new UI ): dont even see stream. what am I doing wrong lol

Edit: NVM I’m an idiot lol

    • Hothfox

Go to the Play Store on the web and force it to install on your device. The update is live, but your Play Store app might not pull it down for you yet.

      • Warwick

That’s what I had to end up doing haha

  • sc0rch3d

    signed up and cancelling Pandora
