Custom ROM Friday: Scott’s CleanROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 2

verizon logo galaxy note 2

Welcome to Custom ROM Friday. Today, we are featuring CleanROM for the Galaxy Note 2 from developer scrosler. There is only so many ways to describe a custom ROM, so who better to sum up their work than the developer themselves? Here is the basic idea behind the ROM - “CleanROM is targeted to the towards the user that wants a stock ROM experience with the ability to choose the features and functions they want, demand performance and expect stability!”

Seems, legit, right? On top of having a completely stable and performance-enhanced build, users are able to choose which add-ons and modifications they want to use. For example, features such as Samsung’s multi-window are beefed up to allow any app to be compatible, as well as the unlocked ability to WiFi tether. As a cherry on top, the developer also threw in some additional ringtones and fonts for the device.

Below we have placed some features that should certainly get some excited, as well as a link to where you can download the ROM.

Notable Features:

  • International N7105XXDMB6 Jellybean 4.1.2 Base
  • Multi Window Control to add or remove any app you want!
  • WiFi Tether Unlocked!
  • Unsecure boot image with init.d support!
  • Samsung Find My Mobile capable!
  • Long Press to skip music tracks with screen off!
  • Additional Ringtones and Fonts!
  • Performance and Stability that is nothing short of Legendary!

I love Scott’s Roms and have been using them for quite awhile on multiple phones. I’m using his Verizon based version currently. My only knock on the international base (and this applies for others on this base) is the GPS never seems to want to work on my phone.

I’d love to see this fixed!

From that angle the Note 2 looks really sexy!

Please guys stop using other web sites. The real main website is: http://www.scottsroms.com

    Please update it please.
    Not just for Note 2

If Scott wanted it directly linked to his site he could have told Tim that himself also what is your problem with sites like XDA and RW? Scott himself posted his work to XDA.

    • flosserelli

Maybe if you added another “please”, they would do it.

Big fan of CleanRom on the S3!

    • C-Law

me too! can’t say enough good things

  • george harris

    Great rom

  • T4rd

I left CleanROM for Beans (v12 right now) and am thinking about switching back. For some reason the native tethering on Beans kills my data connection every time I try to access the internet from my tethered device (I’ll have 3G/4G, try to load a page on my laptop, then 3G/4G disappears while signal bars stay lit up and my laptop times out, then the 3G/4G comes back). If anyone has experienced this on CleanROM or Beans and knows how to fix it, I’ll one-up the sh*t out of you! ;-)

    • Tim242

That is not the ROM. I’ve been using it for months with no tethering issues

      • T4rd

Well it doesn’t do it every time. Usually native tethering will work fine for a little bit (anywhere between 5-30 mins), then my data connection will start dropping. It does the same thing for USB tethering too =(.

  • XphoneTroll

The only down side to this ROM is that you can’t do group messaging… Other then that it’s one of the best ROM out!

    • will bartlett

i have group messaging on cleanrom…

    • T4rd

Even if you choose the stock/Samsung messaging app in the Aroma installer instead of the AOSP messaging? If so, that’s odd since the phone supports group messaging out of the box on the stock ROM/messaging app.

    • radiohead14

Clean Rom on my S3.. group messaging works perfectly fine

  • Syraz/Azilla

Loved this Rom when I had my S3 pretty much the only Rom I ever used the 7-8 months I had the phone
