Friday App Sales: Beautiful Widgets, Tasker, Super Hexagon, and More

google play logo

Here are some great app sales to deliver you into the weekend. Some of the bigger names that grace this last are Super Hexagon, Beautiful Widgets, and even Plants vs. Zombies. And can you believe it, there’s Tasker for just $2! That’s a serious steal.

If you don’t own some of these apps yet, you are doing it wrong. Let’s change that and support some devs.

  • KRS_Won

Hoiw much difference is there between Smart Actions and Tasker?

  • shaonian

  • fallsgable

Is there an App that can track North Korean Missiles??

  • Niall Fox

ROM Toolbox Pro is 40% off also

  • I’d buy NBA Jam for nostalgic purposes, but no Moga support.. 🙁

  • I’ve been considering Tasker for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger on it with the sale. Now I have another dilemma – other than turning down notification volume while I should be sleeping, I can’t come up with any good uses for it. Can someone provide me with examples of what they do with the app?

    • Put a nexus 7 in your car dash..I use it to detect power to trigger airplane and wifi

    • Pedro

Check out the wiki the app calls out. You’ll be shocked. Then you’ll have fun.
Wait. What? It can do THAT!?

You’ll start following the Secure Settings thread on xda ‘just because’

Tasker can do all kinds of things. I just wish it worked with more 3rd party apps because I want even more things to be automated. I use it to set my phone to silent when I’m either at school or work, turn wifi on when I’m at home or at a friend’s house and off again when I leave, turn bluetooth on if my phone is connected to USB and I get a call (for when I’m driving), launch my music app when I connect both USB and the AUX cable, turn off screen rotation when I am using certain apps, etc. I paid full price for Tasker about 3 years ago and it’s worth every penny. MOTO Smart Actions doesn’t hold a candle to Tasker. *please note that Tasker does require root*

      • Tom Z

Actually Tasker only requires root for some functions. I’ve been able to get a lot of functions to work without root.

  • S2556

Considering nba jam, super hex, Tasker and aCar.

  • BubbleSort

I’ve played the EA Monopoly, and it is dumb. The dice rolls don’t seem to be purely random (at least for the AI), which ruins the game.

  • EvanTheGamer

I recommend Sonic Jump. It’s a fun new take on the “Running/Jumping” genre but with Sonic at the helm! Really is worth the small price of admission.

    • JMonkeYJ

from your description i was hoping it was in the style of Canabalt…they could make a really awesome Sonic game like that (similar to my favorite game of last year, Rayman Jungle Run, wait, did Waking Mars come out last year?). still looks cool tho 🙂

      • EvanTheGamer

Ahh, yes…apologies about that…I’ll change it to “Jumping” genre, since Sonic Jump has nothing to do with running. lol

But a “Sonic Runner” game could be awesome though.

      • how is Sonic Canabalt not a thing yet????

  • MichaelFranz

NBA Jam is tempting at 99 cents

    • S2556

      I am thinking the same

    • JMonkeYJ

i bought it last time it was on sale and never played it 🙁 might be different for you tho!

    • I got it last time it was on sale too. It is really fun, especially if you grew up with the original. I think I played it for 30 mins though and haven’t opened it back up yet.

  • Gear heads will love aCar. Been a pro user since the old donation ID system. Never regret buying it.

  • ksat

aCar Pro Unlocker – WELL worth the $.99 cents! It is a good app to track all-things related to auto maintenance and gas fill-ups.

  • Tim242

I’m not sure how much I’ll use tasker. But, it’s worth $2 to play with.

    • Pedro

Just the ability to automagically turn on/off GPS and WiFi based on the situation was a godsend with the GNex. Stupid mini battery.

It’s not as critical for the N4, but now I’m starting to play with it more (because if I screw up, it won’t kill the battery in 4 hours).

  • tu3218

With Tasker, could I have it launch google now when my command button is pressed in my car? Right now either s voice or voice dialer comes up. No Google Now. If that’s possible for it to work, I’ll definitely buy Tasker.

    • Command Button? I know you can react to the normal media buttons (play, pause, etc).

      • tu3218

On my head unit, I have a button that I can press to bring up voice actions on my phone. It brings up s voice or voice dialer but I’d like it to bring up google now. Bluetooth headsets have the same. Its nice for voice dialing someone while driving.

    • CapnShiner

I looked through all the available options in Tasker and could not find anything that corresponds to that bluetooth function. I searched the wiki as well. I am pretty sure it’s possible to get Tasker to it but it might need to be added by the developer. I suggest that you go to the Tasker forum in Google Groups and post your request there for the dev to see. If it’s possible already, I’m sure someone in the forum will tell you how to set it up. If not, the developer should see your post and respond.

      • tu3218

        thanks for looking into it.

  • Thomas

What is this Samsung Push Service notice thing that I just got on my Note 2 ?

  • Glad I bought tasker 4 days ago :/

    • wh1te_mag1c

Yea, wtf, I held out so long and finally paid for it.. god damn it.

    • Glad I bought Tasker 4 YEARS ago 🙂

    • This reminds me of this old Circuit City commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epP3jETf8Og

      • delriogil

        lmao! I still remember this

      • ohhh… the good ole days

    • EvanTheGamer

Let me get this straight…you guys are complaining over a bloody dollar? And here I thought there were far more important things to complain about in the world.

      • I think Tasker was $6.99, actually. Took me awhile to justify it, and when I did it was only because I had that $25 Play GC from buying a Nexus 7.

I have a seizure just thinking about Super Hexagon. That game looks like a mind screw!
